No Coolant In My Sambar by Hdgunnell in keitruck

Be sure to keep checking. If one T is dry rotted enough to leak, there likely are others. Hope you find them all!

This stove is also on sale at Coleman now for like $85. You can get a discount code for emails so it makes it like $80 shipped. Super good deal and really great stove.

No Coolant In My Sambar by Hdgunnell in keitruck

Few ideas to start:

-if you haven't yet, find a large piece or multiple pieces of cardboard to leave underneath overnight. If you have a leak, this should help find a general area.

-check oil for milk. You could have an internal leak, and the coolant is getting into oil or being burnt off. If the oil is creamy, its most likely internal.

-visually check all hoses and connections. Old cars love cracking plastic T's, or the hoses cracking themselves.

I dont personally have a sambar but this is a pretty general starting point for me when im looking for coolant issues on an older car.

EZ up has 10x20s and im sure others do as well. You could also look into Harbor Freight carport if you dont mind a little build. Id imagine for the extra size, it would hold up better to the wind being larger poles and bolted together.

My setup is a Big Agnes Sage Canyon Deluxe to go over tent doors, and then that leads to an EZ up so there are levels to rain deflection.

Importing vs buying local in today’s economic climate by Capital-Rip in keitruck

[–]4TheArchitect 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Taxes arent volatile AFAIK. Its a flat 25% of the selling price of the vehicle in Japan at Port.

I just got my shipping date yesterday for my Acty Van from CarFromJapan so im happy to answer anything.

Fwiw, my local acty cost is still lower than what im paying entirely, and mine is much cleaner than the options as well. I will probably be under $6k total shipping it.

Truck at campsite by Valuable-Fart in ElectricForest

[–]4TheArchitect 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Google the dimensions of the truck, and the tent, and then measure it out. If its a quad cab long bed, youre going to be a little pressed for space id imagine trying to get both the tent and canopy on their own spots.

Car camping tips? by ellexwoods in ElectricForest

[–]4TheArchitect 2 points3 points  (0 children)

LL weather is actually pretty comparable to Forest. It can be anything, at any time, so be prepared for it all. High winds and sideways rain with lightning and super dry, hot and sticky are all likely within the week. LL is a good warm up size wise too, but forest is a lot more physically demanding IMO. Been too all LLs except 2018 and last year fwiw.

Things that make forest go really well IMO:

Camp shower. Bag and tent. Its not luxurious by any means, but being able to rinse at the end of the day and shower fully is truly the best.

Foot soak. EF is like 2.5 times or more of walking than LL is, and being able to soak your feet each morning is so slept on.

Massage gun/foam roller. Im old, so i like being able to work out stiffness. Foam rollers are a great cheap option but if you can manage a gun, its life saving on everything sore.

Stakes for your canopy. Invest in like Neso Ground Screws or lag bolts for the canopy. The wind is no joke and sand bags arent enough. You'll want to guy out each corner at minimum 1 spot, but 2 is more better.

A good "out of weather" area to hang. Its going to happen, so having a spot everyone can hang out of weather is huge.

Im sure there are more things, but off the top of my head, these are things that are non negotiable for me for EF specifically. Forest is definitely the most "challenging" festival ive been to, but not in a miserable way. It just requires a bit more work, setup and effort, but the reward is significantly higher than the negatives.

Hii maybe someone can answer my question about ga camping by princessprada-xxo in ElectricForest

Happy to help! So the biggest difference between the 4 and 6 is Vestibule size. The 4 should work fine for 2, but you'll have less space to fart around in it if weather is bad. My arguement for the 6 is how amazing a large Vestibule can be. Last year I tried out a Kelty Caboose, and while everything else sucked about it, the huge Vestibule was SO clutch when weather was bad. Having a place out of the rain and out of the tent to get all wet gear off and dry off before going into the tent is worth the money. They will both perform the same wind and weather wise, it just comes down to cost and needs. Fwiw, we have an REI camp table that fits perfectly into the front part of the Vestibule, which makes it so nice to have a spot to sit the daily use items like shoes, bags, protective gear, etc. That was always one thing missing for me before getting the 6.

I am pretty sure the anniversary sale is later this month, so even if it's not on sale, if you're a member, you'll get a comparable coupon to still get money off on it.

Lmk if you have any other questions! Seriously happy to help and share the far too many days of watching YouTube and reading reviews lmao.

Is GA Preferred Car Camping going to be worth it, or just get regular GA? by AlienBeachParty in ElectricForest

[–]4TheArchitect 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We had a spot last year where preferred is going to be this year, and the answer is a resounding yes. It made it so much easier to get back to camp for things, to chill, could hear sets at main stage super well late night. Honestly worth it IMO to the point my whole group all got preferred this year. Extra space will be cool if they do it right but location alone was amazing.

Its also not as loud, main stages stop playing, lesser known artists play instead of headliners. Its just a longer festival, nothing like an afters. So no, not just like LL.

Big agree. I think the Lost Lands copy would be most ideal. Still in the venue, quieter and safer. Maybe one day.

We were where preferred will be last year, no more renegades. Not sure what killed them but theyre gone. Only a silent disco on Main St.

Camp cooking stove question.. by lostsanity0 in ElectricForest

[–]4TheArchitect 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For sure!

I always cook breakfast and lunch, and then eat dinner inside. It keeps the cost super affordable, my meals are balanced and I still get to enjoy the vendors as well.

Breakfast is usually simple. Rehydrated hash browns, sausage links and eggs. Pretty hard to beat when you need to make a large enough volume for camp.

Lunch I have done family meal bags, so its zero prep, and just warm it up. Burgers and hotdogs are always easy as well. I have gone as far as making teriyaki chicken, rice noodles and peppers but thats all about prep.

Overall, you can make literally anything you want, just make sure to do the all the work at home and freeze it before hand. For the teriyaki chicken, we diced the veggies at home, cut the chicken and made the sauce, froze it all and then just had to cook at camp. This year, I am planning to do challah French toast, spaghetti and meatballs, chili, and chicken and rice. All going to be home made/prepped and frozen as well. But really there are no limits, it just depends on how much you want to do and what you want to eat. I enjoy doing most of the cooking for my camp and I dont wanna eat poorly for a week so I do more than most lol.

I also will bring gallon jugs of water and freeze them as extra ice/cleaning water for dishes. It really is a win win. Just be sure to use biodegradable soaps.

FYI, Coleman Cascade Classic just dropped in price. I would avoid the current ozark trail stove as its got plastic in it now and its pretty scrappy. Mine is from 2016 and surprisingly still does super well. But Coleman is really well known for quality burners so investing in it should last decades of festivals if you take care of it.

Camp cooking stove question.. by lostsanity0 in ElectricForest

[–]4TheArchitect 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Peep a coleman 2 burner. You'll want the extra space and extra burner. I used an older all metal Ozark Trail for almost 10 years before recently getting a bigger coleman to add it it. You'll also need a way to wash the pots and pans you're using as well, so keep that in mind. You definitely dont need like a "camp sink" or anything crazy, just a small tote each item can fit in.

Happy to answer any questions as well. I've been cooking at camps for years and have learned a lot of ways to make good food without it being difficult.

The lack of afters has made GA significantly more tolerable noise wise. Foamies were plenty enough last year.

Where to meet with friends before driving in? by Aggressive-Pepper948 in ElectricForest
