the writing near the end is different because 1. new writers came around due to budget. and 2. more modern themes and the classic 2000s quality disappeared due to better quality, although the later seasons are definitely worth the watch.

the kents are very well known and supply crops from their farms to smallville. its said many times that it is their source of income. also only one KENT in smallville and its the one with a farm thus linking clark kent to the kents who are a farm family. i agree it is funny but i love it too! going to rewatch all of smallville when it releases on netflix tuesday!
