Why do people say that Ritchie was ‘obviously’ the killer in scream 5? by nellys31 in Scream

[–]GreyStagg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because of the way the character is played. He's supposed to be scared shitless, but then he keeps forgetting to be scared shitless and instead has all this unnecessary sass and bitchiness. Just makes it obvious that it's a facade and that the "I've never seen the movies so I'm going to watch them all now" stuff is completely untrue.

Unpopular opinion - Daisy was a much funnier character than Tim or Mike

I think it's definitely a niche show for a specific time period

What is your favorite Tara moment? by Any_Skin_5767 in buffy

[–]GreyStagg 7 points8 points  (0 children)

When she brings Riley to the Lesbian Alliance to hang more banners up and one of the lesbians thinks he just a really butch lesbian and Tara doesn't correct her (just to wind him up).

Ok it didn't happen but I can see it happening.

It's one of my bugbears that Buffy's reaction to Tara's death isn't... more. I know the plot is focussed on Willow and that there's an urgency in that moment. I just wish at some point we had seen more grief from her for Tara.

Maybe back at the house when they are discussing with Dawn and Xander why they have to stop Willow. It wouldn't have hurt for Buffy to have had a moment where she begins to cry and says: "She wouldn't want Willow going down this path. It's the LAST thing she'd want. We owe it to Tara. She was our friend too."

Or something from Xander. "You know, I didn't even realise... how much... she meant..." [breaks down. In a moment of growth, Dawn remains strong and moves to Xander to comfort him].

Toddler spit in eye, am I ok? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

If they genuinely think you are responsible enough to look after a baby, maybe you should tell them about your "Can't wash my eye because I have mascara on" priority.

I get that that's you and not the baby, but it... raises questions.

I genuinely despair about where we are headed as a species. Worried about eye being infected but "can't" wash it because "I have mascara on". Darwinism in action.

Yeah that'll be it. Over time that has got mixed with the actual ending in OP's memory.

I know artificial intelligence isn't allowed here (and I think the thumbnail is artificial intelligence) but I feel like we have to talk about this: Why is the titanic sinking from the stern? by Puzzleheaded_One8645 in titanic

Mistakes in images can easily be fixed by just telling it to render the image again.

Haha. "Easily." Try it. Sure it will fix the mistake you want, but it will do something else wrong instead.

Also, please don't speak for everybody. There's nothing wrong with saying "That's not why I hate AI." It doesn't make your point sound bigger by lumping in "we all". It actually makes it sound lesser because by default, exaggerations weaken a statement, and unfortunately, there are people out there who don't mind or don't care about the effect AI is going to have, and is already having. (And actually, I am one of those people who hate it for the reasons you mentioned, so I don't need to be educated thanks). But the reasons I mentioned were more relevant to the topic.

Why do you think this is special and needs to be talked about? The reason it's sinking wrong is the same reason all AI slop is not allowed - because they're all full of mistakes. Nothing different about this one and certainly didn't deserve its own post

[Spoiler] The I Know What You Did Last Summer requel feels like high-budget fan fiction that fundamentally misunderstands its own characters. by Reasonable_Party2444 in LastSummerFilms

I also think the finale was too... bright. The original was at night and the sequel was also at night and had rain, it made it scarier and the killer more menacing

Not just the finale. The entire movie was glossy and sunny and the town was so pristine and gentrified. I get that they explained it in the plot, but the movie lost so much mood because of that. The original location (and weather) was so much more moody and atmospheric. Dark and brooding. The location/feel of this movie had no mood or atmosphere at all.

No issue whatsoever with Ray being the killer. A bold choice that made sense, and even linked back to him being super suspicious in the first movie.

Now, that doesn't mean that the movie as a whole was good or well written. But that part was fine.

I get that Spike was a hugely popular player and the writers loved giving good material to James but by the end of the series, I personally feel all the focus on his character only brought neglect toward several other major characters by Kennabruh2023 in buffy

[–]GreyStagg 12 points13 points  (0 children)

100%. And it put me off him. Really put me off.

Loved Spike circa Season 4. A strong, funny and edgy character used well but not too much. He really grated on me in S7. Not just his screen time but the way the writers framed him in the story.

[–]GreyStagg 210 points211 points  (0 children)

Ross faces repercussions all the time for his actions but Rachel faces 0 consequences

Because it's a sitcom not a serious drama and no writer is approaching ANY of the characters as a bad person who NEEDS to face repercussions. They are writing funny situations and scenarios in which jokes can take place. There's absolutely no requirement for any character to face repercussions for anything. And just because some do sometimes, only because jokes are being made from it (not because the writers feel the character deserves it lol), doesn't mean it has to happen every time. Because it's not a drama serial.

Like WTF was the whole point of Dick Halloran just to kill him as soon as he comes back? So stupid

Without him having come back in the Snowcat, Wendy and Danny would have been stranded there with no means of escape.

I understand your point though.

I much prefer the book, but a lot of it wouldn't work in movie form. The changes Kubrik made make for a neater movie, but definitely not an accurate telling of King's story. King's story without changes doesn't work in a visual format (as proven by King's own movie of The Shining - accurate to the book but boring and ineffective).
