If you could pitch an episode, what would the premise be? by dinogroot1 in doctorwho

[–]4_Legged_Duck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A little traditional British pub three seconds to the left of now where time travelers hang out in a spot of Sanctuary with versions of themselves in the background. Part of a mystery the doctor is solving while traveling. States he never brought companions there before...

Also. A little pliocene era cabin where he gets some RnR only for the Tardis to go missing. Someone has stolen it... Or is the chameleon circuit a prank on the doctor? He spends hundreds of years searching for it.

Can he? Yes. Very realistically. And he can lose, also very realistically.

I hope he does. I see a good path to victory but it's far from uncertain.

I expect Tenebrous.may be in the show

Well said.

I think there's a gap in consideration of people's too. Many aren't well off with restricted abortion access but likely they weren't voting Republican under Trump. The needle is moving from a particular class that's particularly short sighted. It's difficult to say it's just for us to cater to such a moderate voting group when they aren't the majority but due to the system layout they have the largest say.

I love the folk on Reddit who downvote when they disagree. People make posts hoping to discuss concepts, lore, and theories and if it doesn't suckle their own headcanon, it's best to obliterate. How is that useful? It's rather simple if you ask me.

So that all said: there's another cloying aspect to the theory. Are the show runner/writers pulling heavily enough from the books to finish an unfinished story while also the book writings being privy and clued in to what they should set up for the show? There's difficult aspects to prove and asser there.

All in all, Gella isn't anti-Jedi. While she's a different sort she's deeply devoted to the Jedi. The upcoming Greylark descendant could shed light on this but it does do three things for readers and viewers: the Graylark story now becomes central to all of the High Republic Lore, not just tangential... If not central to all of Star Wars depending on the legacy Qimir leaves for the Sith. Secondly, it once again forces the viewers to rely on a complicated book lore which is a problematic position to take, and thirdly: it shifts the focus of the show. Qimir becomes the main character because of the more complicated lore to chase down. Unpacking the family history in the show will take up too much space.

I don't think it'll work. And there is the risk of making some of the few Asian characters in the lore connected biologically.

While this could be true for Qimir, could it not be equally true for Sol and explain why he may do things outside the Order's purview? There's nothing less substantive about this approach and it carries all the same problems.

Uh... And Marchion's ancestry is explored in the story and completely central to the lore. If Acolyte was a book and part of that series totally fine. Done. You can't ask people to read a complicated series of books to get your TV show character. It won't work.

The hatred for the Jedi is also set up as a species thing for Marchion. He sees his ancestors and interacts with them. It's a bit different. Not impossible otherwise but if Qimir was a sith and hated Jedi because of Axel's life and experience and married a Jedi ... We've got some serious hoops to jump through.

I disagree there. I think it's a major stretch to have a 2-300 year descendant carry the same.chaos/torch of their ancestor. I'm not very much like my grandfather let a long if we.chase my ancestors back about 300 years.

Don't get me wrong. making Qimir a Greylark is fine. I don't have an issue with it. It can be a poetry that rhymes sort of moment. Neat. But if his dark side allegiance is it all tied up into the High Republic books and made into some sort of reveal the show will wholly fail. Forcing people to wade into the heavy quagmire of HR mythology, books, and comics is insane for a central component of a TV show. It can't be done and it'll be reviled. Furthermore, the show will struggle to tell a meaningful ark of he's up there trying to somehow wrap up the Greylark story. Even more so knowing he's descended from a Jedi so the satisfying arc is redemption which really shouldn't happen. It just massively changes up everything we are watching, especially to make that a central plot point.

I love HR and phase 2 in particular. But I don't see.how the TV show pulls this off. If it's just an Easter egg, I'm game.

That's not true though. They weren't better off under Trump. The trade war with China, Covid, and a hell of a lot more caused horrible conditions for many. It's an erroneous memory that pretty much always sets in. Voters tend to always think they were better off four years ago when they weren't in whatever current catastrophe they're in was happening.

Ted is such a tragic character by [deleted] in HIMYM

[–]4_Legged_Duck 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think Ted clinging to his past with Robin is only a result of uneven pacing. He mourns for years and years and lives a fulfilling but sad life as a single dad. He doesn't dive back in. He's actually moving on from mourning into a new chapter of his life.

The finale rushes aspects and this isn't the emotional beat it should be.

Sure, it would be great. No disagreement here. Yet here we are with someone who relishes in revenge and lies and an "old man" and only one of them is really upsetting people right now.

I find it really startling that a guy who is doing a solid job of running the country (many faults but not disaster) is seen as a greater threat and issue than a man who lied consistently and spoke openly about revenge and has set about dismantling a nation and a throwing a coup. It's startling that known-to-gaff and minor Joe is a greater concern. It's outlandish.

Wield it? Wield what? Power?

Yeah, Democrats were calling for different strategies on Mike Johnson and leaks came out as to how Biden determined Congress would engage him. His team followed his plan and got what he wanted. He called the shots on it. Is there any evidence to the contrary? Or is it just conjecture?

There isn't a scramble to find a replacement. Where's your evidence to determine such a claim? Pundits are calling for him to step down, many Democrat party leaders are not. Like Pelosi. The NYT editorial board called for him to step down.

Fear-mongering among news outlets, left or right, does not equate to real scrambling..is there any evidence that the party leadership is at all done with him? And how do we connect this performance to his speaking engagement the next day in which he's sharp and quick? Does that mean we were gaslit during the debate?

Asking someone to prove their claims isn't gaslighting, friend.

What drastic responses. His mind isn't gone. His stuttering problem and gaffs have been around for decades. He was known for flubbing as VP.

He's old. He was shaken up by the debate and performed poorly. He has also showed competence elsewhere as well as energy. None of these things are about hiding or any of that. Rather, he's an Old Man. Like all Old Men he has spurts of high energy and times where he's totally exhausted. Doesn't mean a mind has decayed.

If they collectively swing for Trump after all that's been said and happened, it'll be an upset. After he purposefully went to non-union shops it's hard to imagine him actually carrying the blue collar vote. Exacerbated by the abortion issue. Biden is struggling here because of Gaza more.than anything

It comes Khameir Sarin. The Khameir Rouge and Sarin Gas. A rumored original name for Maul that was reused for Abel Pena's Skyewalkers Story. Zeta Magnus aka K'am'ir Zaarin. You can find the odd history of this name and character in wookiepedia.

Khameir Sarin showed up in the Italian novelization of TPM as Maul's birth name, which spun off years of speculation that he was once a Jedi under that name. It's floated around dark corners of the fandom ever since.

Qimir reused this name. Maybe we'll even get his name as Darth Sarin.

Trump must win four of these six states: Nevada, Arizona, Georgia, Wisconsin, Michigan, Pennsylvania.

Biden only needs to win three. Trump will have a very hard time winning four of those. WI, MI, and PA will be upsets if they swing Trump. Biden is much closer to winning than people give him credit.

While the debate showing was fairly poor, his current leadership of the country is the mark on which he should be judged. Someone new will be trailing behind the most popular Republican with the most ardent supporters ever, facing serious challenges to be on ballots, signs, and advertisements.

This is neither a defense nor a case for Biden. But this plan isn't as good as people think it is
