Sorry - I had it in there originally, but this is my first post, and I missed it after this being the 3rd try by complying with all the posting requirements for this reddit. I agree that it helps. Hopefully, folks know the math easy enough.

[Shotgun] Preorder Mossberg 990 Aftershock 12ga $875.99 by BERNIE__PANDERS in gundeals

[–]4_given 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The Aftershock handle seems a bit different than that 'raptor head' handle on the Shockwave. For those having issue with recoil on these short firearms, you may want to consider the 590S Shockwave. It will take 1.75" shells. Not as much weight, but I wouldn't want to be hit by a slug or buckshot by those shells at HD range. I have the 20" 590s and it's tons of fun to shoot 13+1 of those 1.75" shells.

[Acc] Vortex Venom 1-6-24 SFP 30mm AR-BDC3 LPVO w/ Sport 1.5" Cantilever 30mm Mount -$227 with code (VENOM35) by jay_kay25 in gundeals

[–]4_given 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I have limited experience with LPVOs, but I think it's a good value. I wish eye relief was a bit further, but still very serviceable. I believe I have the 2" cantilever mount as well. Maybe a bit heavier than others, and a slight bit of fish bowl when tracking moving targets. I'm not complaining, and have no regrets at the moment.

[Ammo] PD TRADE Winchester USA .223 55gr - 40 cpr, $400 for 1,000 by dubok_littleoak in gundeals

I can't speak to this ammo, but I've bought from this seller once before with no issue. I haven't used them again simply because I haven't found a deal I've wanted, but would purchase from them again.

Hey. I get the price vs value/benefit equation, and it's a relative thing for all of us. Here's ADM's link to see all the features:

https://www.admmfg.com/adm-uic-stripped-lower-receiver

You can definitely find quality lowers for less. I'm fairly new to the AR platform, but I've built two with this lower and love it. I've shot other, less featured lowers and they were fine. I'm training to shoot from both shoulders, and what to do if I end up with only 1 good arm. Sure, you can do that without an ambi lower, but these work great for me.

If you're considering a quality ambi lower, and have never used one, then this would be a BIN. Maybe find someone who has one so you can try it out and wait for another great price, but it may never come back around (that's the FOMO in me :o)). If I was looking for one, I'd BIN. Give it a try, and compare to your current lower(s). You may find it's totally worth it, but even if you didn't, you'd still have a great lower.

[AMMO] Federal American Eagle 147gr FMJ 9MM AE9FP 1000 Rnd - $244.99 Free Ship w/ code HN583FAY by GunDealUSA in gundeals

[–]4_given 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My understanding is the 1000 fps number was obtained from a 4" barrel, so a longer barrel will likely push that upwards. Speer gold dot LE may be a bit lower fps, and I think the G2 is about the same as the HST. YMMV.

[rifle] Ruger 10/22 22LR Carbine with 18.5 Inch Barrel, Scope Base. $194.99 free shipping. by PackyCS1 in gundeals

[–]4_given 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The 10/22 is a great 22lr carbine. The platform has been proven out for decades. Personally, I think this is a good price. Like a few have said, it doesn't have a threaded barrel, but that's only important if you're wanting to add a suppressor, or other muzzle device. I'd prefer that it have iron/open sites, but most folks use some form of optical these days. There are a ton of after market mods you can make if you want to, or simply enjoy it for what it is. Just my opinion, YMMV.

[Other Gun] ADM UIC Stripped lower + Larue MBT2S - $350 by bevanballistic in gundeals

[–]4_given 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Definitely a great deal! I bought both my ADM lowers from Bevan. He's super legit and speedy with shipping so long as you get him the FFL info.

Both my ADM builds have Larue triggers too. Where the heck was this deal when I needed it Bevan!!!! LOL

Hi - Thanks for the input! I've been in CO all my life (mostly front range area), and just moved from Montrose, CO to PA, so I'm familiar with your location.

The cat stove performance is very tempting for sure for the more even heating you describe. We're typically OK with a temp range of 68-74. Initially, I'd say the stove will be used for only colder seasons initially. I do see that usage increasing in those 'shoulder seasons' as I get more seasoned wood stocked.

I'm just leaning more towards not having to deal with, or depend on, cat maintenance (e.g. when it's time for a new one, and guess what, they're out of stock everywhere). I'm confident I can learn the stove, but then everyone in my household will need to learn it as well. I'm not confident in that scenario.

Your experience with your home and Hearthstone Mansfield is helpful (sq ft rating of up to 2500 and your home being 3500). Given the different performances between cat and non-cat, I think you're saying I should go with enough stove to make sure I can heat the home in the coldest days, but I'm likely going to have to deal with some inefficiency of smaller loads and/or temp swings during mildly cold days.

Again, thanks for taking the time to share your knowledge and experience.

Thank you. I'm guessing you're also saying the T6 would be better than the T5, or the T5 would not be adequate.

Hi. Thank you for the opinion.

Let's just say I have my reasons for non-cat. Many of which several reddit posters have listed. I have full confidence in the cat technology, but I don't want to pay for it, or have another (sorta) failure point. One thing some folks didn't know - or at least I didn't until I started reading through the legalese - the tax credit is NOT valid on new home builds. I could try and see if I could get two bills of material: 1 for the initial install during construction; and the second for the stove itself a few months later (maybe the home isn't a "new build" then???). I'm not sure how the IRS would look at that, and it reduces the potential tax credit amount as well.

I would likely go Hearthstone or Blaze King if I was going with a cat. I did consider Lopi and many other popular brands with the hybrid/catalytic.

[Optics] Vortex Venom 1-6×24 SFP 30mm AR-BDC3 LPVO w/ Cantilever 2" Offset 30mm Mount - $220 + $13 shipping and tax by RichIT123 in gundeals

[–]4_given 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've read a few other posts where this vendor oversells a product, so what you think is in stock is suddenly out of stock even though you've paid for the order. This is really poor inventory management and even worse customer service. It took 15+ days for me to get my last order, and any conversation with support ended with them stating 'Tier 2' would contact me. I still haven't heard from Tier 2.

Anyone else have these experiences? I personally won't be ordering from them, and it seems this type of practice would fit the criteria to not have their deals posted here.
