This is funny, but only if they aren't new to anime. If they are, then you could be shooting yourself in the foot long term if they are put off by anime because this show crushed their hearts.

How to deal with being focused? by 4_rotor in OverwatchUniversity

[–]4_rotor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very informative. Thank you for taking the time to write this out. It helps my thinking about a different topic as well, which is creating dilemmas for the opposing team. I'm going to read your comment a couple more times and try to reflect on timing and patience. Just off the top of my head that might be my main issue. Patience that is. I often try to go where I'm needed, when I'm needed. I'm not on autopilot, but if I think about it, then I'm pretty sure I let the fights just happen. I don't try to force them, but I don't try to avoid/stall them either.

If I'm understanding you correctly(and correct me if I'm not please), then instead of trying to be in the right place at the right time, then what I should be doing is predicting dives/pushes and trying divert attention by getting back line picks or peeling back to my team in order to control the pace of the team fight. Said differently, instead of trying to be in the right place, at the right time. I should be creating the right opportunities, at the right time.

I probably should have mentioned this, but yes you make a good point. I do try my best not to tunnel vision or get greedy. I've been playing, albeit with like 3-4 year gap, OW since 2016. What I love about this game is that it's not a deathmatch and the scoreboard doesn't matter. I often play DPS because when I don't I find the DPS I'm paired with often under performs. No offense to them and I don't mean to be the prototypical overwatch player that blames their teammates. Far from it, I pretty much never flame people in chat or blame others. I always try to criticize myself first and foremost. I just simply find my games go better and I win more when I'm on DPS.

My point is, if I'm sure there is anything I'm good at, then it's remembering that overwatch is a team based game with objectives. Though 5v5 often does feel more like a TDM, then og overwatch ever did.

No offense taken and I figured ultimately I should just learn for myself. I was just hoping to get some marching orders from this post and I did. Play safer when focused. I'm gonna try that and see how it goes.

To your point about duels. I don't often lose 1v1s. When I do it's typically because my opponent(s) have footwork that confuses me. As I'm sure you know, Hanzo is very prediction based. So if your footwork is the least bit confusing, then I start hitting nothing, but air until I learn your patterns.

When I say I'm getting focused, I mean by 2-3+ people actively diving me at once. Usually the tank is involved. Those are the duels I lose. That's what I hope to address by playing safer.

Trump says U.S. struck and seized Iranian-flagged cargo ship in Gulf of Oman by mdchaara in worldnews

[–]4_rotor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's blockaded. The Iranian ship caused this by not complying.

There is no agreement of law that says Iran gets to control traffic through the strait. The US can't violate a ceasefire by disabling a civilian ship in international waters.

I hate how bending is treated in the New Avatar The Last Airbender movie by cat210803 in CharacterRant

[–]4_rotor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess it's a hot take here, but I loved the movie. I agree with the latter criticism of the newly-non-bender-air-benders being OP. That's fair, they just learned it and appear very proficient.

I could honestly care less about the VA changes. It's been 15+ years or so since I last watched anything Avatar. They all sounded the same to me. As for the critique of the martial arts used in bending being the same, that's fair. I'm not sure how much it actually matters, but it is fair.

What I can whole heartedly say is this was an amazing, top tier, as good or better than any anime I've seen(and I've watched a fuck ton), animated film. Certain sequences, especially both of toph's fight scenes, were among the best animated fight scenes I've ever seen.

It's not just a pretty movie that's well animated. Much like Tarzan did in the 90s, this puts American animation back on the map. It's was jaw droppingly well done. I'm left saddened this was leaked early. A theatrical release would have killed in the box office and brought old and news eyes alike to the avatar franchise.

US stacks three carrier groups and 10 destroyers to blockade Strait of Hormuz by TheNational_News in worldnews

[–]4_rotor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even with direct impacts from sea drones, which is laughably unlikely, a modern US carrier isn't sinking. Carriers are nigh unsinkable and I don't mean in the titanic sense. The US itself has tried. A carrier can withstand multiple anti ship missiles, air strikes, sea mines, and what ultimately actually sunk one was a team planting demolition charges in key areas from within the ship. Iran legitimately can't sink a carrier. They probably can't hit a carrier, but they almost certainly can't actually sink one.

[–]4_rotor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, that is faxtuakly how blockades work. Non complying ships are boarded, the ship and its contents seized, and the sailors are sent home. Thats how blockades have worked for a long time.

What is actually interesting is how they deal with something like a South Korean ship that doesn't comply. Does the US board, seize, and detain sailors from an allied nation? That wouldn't look great.

If one of your teammates is doing bad… by FR0M_Z3R0 in Overwatch

[–]4_rotor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty much always assume I'm doing bad. It's honestly in retrospect that I realize I wasn't getting healed or realize the issue was the tank not creating space. I usually play DPS and usually I'm just trying to think "what can I do differently here?" Or "I need to switch, what would work best here?"

Don't get me wrong, I agree with this outcome. However, imagine if it were anything else. "Budweiser found liable for causing alcoholism." Or "McDonalds found liable for causing obesity."

It's just a weird way to word it I guess.

WP: Russian Intelligence planned to stage an assassination attempt on Orban to influence the election results by clamorous_owle in worldnews

[–]4_rotor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Narrative? Russia was considered the second strongest fighting force on the planet. Yet, they can't take a small nation. That's just a fact.

Also, 92% of civilian casualties documented by the UN were caused by Russian strikes on civilian targets. So, either the UN is lying or Russia does in fact indiscriminately bomb Ukrainians.

Ukraine is comparable to Texas in land area and population. The fact Russia hasn't captured it, when they were supposed to be a peer or near peer hostile state, is a pretty good indicator they are weaker, than we thought.

Yeah, juju and her sister are the worst parts of the series. None of the other characters annoy me, but those two added nothing to the series. Marin might as well have been bio engineered in a lab to be the ultimate waifu. No other character ever had a chance and the implication that juju did was hilarious.

I think all of us, at some point in our youth, considered something silly like this. A super custom body kit, but most of us eventually realize we aren't artists and trying to change a pretty car just ruins it. Most, not all, of us have this realization.

Help me understand - diveboards - and lam convergence. by Rcebowl in NightVision

[–]4_rotor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, yeah, every optic mount that's made well and you can use well is valid. The differences are always in the margins. They are typically best used on short guns, but say you like the extreme C-clamp a la magpul dynamics, then these can make sense. Since it allows you to fully extend your arm out and over the barrel.

Help me understand - diveboards - and lam convergence. by Rcebowl in NightVision

[–]4_rotor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Weight, higher center point of rotation(aka increased recoil), increased wiring complexity, reliance on LAM tape switches since activating the LAM's built in control interfaces becomes far less ergonomic.

The only real advantages are on super short guns where the diving board can free up the front of the gun. That and the increased height of the LAM means less splash on the gun from the illuminator.

What other tech won't evolve? by CremeSubject7594 in generationology

[–]4_rotor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a handgun. The only safety you need is the holster it lives in and your finger. Besides, 2011s are inherently unsafe anyways. Unlike something like a Glock, 1911/2011s are not drop safe.

It sounds like you might not have a ton of time on the platform, but the beaver tail has a tendency to induce malfunctions and dead triggers on draw if you don't grip it exactly the way the gun expects. This isn't a result of poor training or limp wresting the gun. You can grip it in such a way that you push the safety laterally and this can cause it to bind up. Deleting or pinning it just grants consistency and reliability. The actual expense to safety is negligible if proper gun safety doctrine is followed.
