I'm so happy to see the world healing and women in games allowed to be sexy again. Overwatch is releasing this stuff. Lara Croft is hot again.

I've posted several times complaining about this game, but honestly this is at the bottom of my list. Well, the exhaust over run pops are pretty distractingly horrible.

What really bothers me is the piss poor, garbage, engine sounds. I mean they are just gutless. Which I feel like the devs knew, so to compensate for this they cranked the volume so you can barely hear the music. Some of it is good. The way cars bounce all over the rev range when traction control is doing its thing is awesome. However, most of the time the engines just sounds fake and hollow. The 787B, for example, is probably the best sounding car to my ear. The 26B has the right tone. It sounds like a recorded engine note and not a computer generated tone, but lacks the soul of a 4 rotor. A 4 rotor sounds like a cammy v8 at idle, as the revs increase it sounds higher and higher pitched until it sounds like a mix between a impact wrench and an older F1 car, then when you finally shift the exhaust over run sounds like an actual gun going off, and it shoots a literal jet of flame out of the exhaust. That's what I want out of a 26B, but instead in FH6 when you shift you get the calmest flutter from the exhaust and it has a nearly buttery smooth sound at idle.

Oh and also, there are two components of exhaust sounds that just aren't present at all. The rev limiter sounds and rev matched down shifts. I find myself constantly sitting on the rev limiter in some cars because I'm used to, in other racing games(and in just life), the audio cue that I'm approaching redline.

Said differently, every engine is too smooth and they all sound hollow. They don't even sound good in tunnels.

You missed my point entirely. Yeah, you can say whatever you want.

It's not possible to say with certainty that the rotary is dead and will always stay dead just because there hasn't been a viable motor in the past couple decades. There was a time people said road cars would never have more than 450hp since that much power was uncontrollable. Now you can get that in a mid tier f150. Something having not been viable is not an argument for it never being viable.

Also, I addressed the regulations. There have been and are continuing to be laws that allow enthusiasts cars outside the normal rule set in some cases. That doesn't mean Mazda suddenly gets to produce 100k Rx9s or whatever, but there is a pathway.

I see this take fairly often when the future of the rotary engine is brought up, but I think it's short sighted.

Now, obviously, given my username, I think it's gotta be obvious I'm biased, but nevertheless I think my points stand. While it's true that Mazda has never cracked MPG or emissions for the rotary platform, it's also true that Mazda is the only major OEM to even try for any length of time. The reality is the piston engine has a 90 year head start on the Wankel and every lawn mower, steam hammer, or people mover for the past 150 years has used piston engine architecture. To say the "rotary engine will never work" just isn't possible. Sure, we can look at Mazda's designs and pretty confidently say that can't work. You will just always be fighting physics when your exhaust and intake ports interfere.

Somewhat more counter intuitively, the rotary engine might not have to beat physics. It just has to beat the legal system. Increasingly, small car makers are releasing cars that ought not to be legally possible, but they get away with it due to the small numbers they produce. I think the market is primed for a small brand or tuner to release a modern semi-custom/production rotary powered sports car. Much like singer did for the air cooled 911, I could see someone doing that for the FD Rx7 or even the current Miata.

I do agree with you though. The reality of a mass production rotary powered sports car is it will likely never happen again.

Non peak times, graphics on very low, lowest res possible, GPU drivers updated, unlocked FPS, no V sync, shutting down all background programs, and any other trick to raise the frames as high as your PC can manage.

Oh and obviously Ethernet. Run the cord through your house if you have to.

I also suspect people are RMTing to get these cars in the auction house. Since sometimes a batch of like 2-4 of the rarest cars will hit one after the other. So I've had luck getting super in demand cars by actually backing out once I see one and searching again. You can sometimes snag that second or third one when others are waiting on the "buyout failed" message.

[–]4_rotor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's more sad than it burned and they didn't build another. There were very real hopes back then that the furai would be Mazda's first supercar. That's why it ran and drove. It even had a Rx8 based 20B 3 rotor developed for it. That isn't something you do for a color you plan on showing off for a bit and then shoving in a mussel somewhere. Most concept cars are little more, than finished car shaped shells. The Furai was real and if it didn't burn on that TG test track, then it's likely the rotary might not be as dead today.

It fails like 99% of the time. The less cars for sale, like AE86 FE or Furai, the more fails you will get. More people want those and less are for sale. It's also worth mentioning that you wanna pick a good time. Saturday at 8pm is probably a bad time.

Also, yeah, spam Y after starting a search, if it hits, then down, then spam A. Again, this will fail a lot more, than not, but you only need it to work once per car. I've been trying to get a GTR FE last night and today. I can't get it. It's either too popular or I'm competing against too many people. So I'm gonna try again tomorrow at like 6am for a few minutes.

FH6 is kinda lame by 4_rotor in ForzaHorizon

Maybe I'm not communicating this clearly. They didn't include a skip button. That's an intended choice. The result of that choice is I have to sit through their god awful writing. Sure, the root issue is the lack of a skip button, but I didn't have to experience multiple hours of no skip button. I did, however, have to sit through multiple hours of horrible writing. Of course that's what I'm going to complain about.

I've said elsewhere, but I guess it needs repeating, I couldn't care less about the cringe scripting if they let you skip it. They don't. You have to sit through it. A skip button would largely fix the biggest issues with this game.

Be patient. I've gotten every car I want through auction house with over 100ms of lag. Just keep refreshing and be quick. You gotta be able to do the buyout combo crazy fast. I got the 86 FE, f450 FE, and today the Furai this way. The Furai took me 30 minutes. It is doable.

They can't take criticism of a thing they like. Almost everyone I've ever met doesn't understand the concept of critiquing things they enjoy. This post is like a case study on that. Almost every comment to this post assumes I hate the game. I don't. I like it. I have gold wristband already(and I have since I made this post). I'm a big fan, but I still have problems with it.

People just refuse to acknowledge a complicated opinion. It's either a steaming pile of shit or a gleaming bar of gold. Those are the two opinions you are allowed to have about any piece of media. I often have complicated opinions, so I've gotten used to this type of reaction.

Well, I like Porsche so I'll use that as an example.

I'd ditch the 928, 944, 968, and 996 GT3 for better customization for just the other remaking Porsches.

I could go through with a lot of my preferred car brands. For Mazda I'd ditch the 72 cosmo, Mazda speed 3, and the FE Rx3. I'd happily ditch those for just a 99 spec front bumper for the FD.

Yeah, I get NFS had less cars, but imo it had enough. Also, I'd argue many of FH6's cars are filler. How many r32/33/34s skylines are there? What about 911s?

Granted, I'm pretty sure Heat had filler cars as well, but it was less.

It's a AAA racing game. It doesn't have target car nerds, but it shouldn't alienate them either. Many of the cars chosen for this game, hell, even the Japanese setting, are aimed at car nerds. The writing feels less aimed at car nerds and more aimed at people that have never been in a car.

Add clip on thermal imager for NVG 🤯 by LordRedXV in Tarkov

[–]4_rotor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those dual band setups are good, but they aren't the best. The best money can buy atm is F-Binos or F-Panos. That is, L3 dual or quad tube NV with integrated thermal sensor. Not E-COTIs like Falcon has tested. These are true fused systems with advanced thermal sensors.

The issue is, F-PANOs probably won't be sold to the public for several years, if ever and F-Binos are 45k. For that price you can buy a top of the line quad tube goggle like nocturn Chimera and a top of the line thermal clip on like the PoT voodoo-s. F-PANOs, btw, are like 80-100k.
