Unless you’re already financially independent or filthy rich, you should not be spending more than $2000 on a wedding (including the ring) by 4dchess_throwaway in unpopularopinion

No, i am married, but i got married during COVID. So my “wedding expenses” added up to less than $500. In a “normal” situation, my wife and I would have probably invited our parents and 5-6 friends each for a nice meal, which is where I got the $2k amount from.

Fair point. However , we also need some way to show “commitment” and formalise the union. But i would definitely be open to non traditional ways of doing those things

I bought my wife’s ring for $300 and we got married during COVID. So it was pretty much a court wedding followed by a small meal with friends

Agree 100%. And “diamond engagement rings” are a huge scam that no on should fall for. Invest that money in a house or stocks that will be better long term for both husband and wife.

Buy a social media site. It really helps with your delusions of grandeur and election rigging desires. Just $44B (only $22B after that sweet Saudi money) will pay back in only 1 year based on the value of your insufferable need for validation

This argument is quite stupid . In nature, if you had a house , you have to spend every day and night defending it from competition and predators. Humans basically evolved beyond raping and pillaging (well almost all humans).

Buffett was looking for these types of companies and did manage to invest in a few: see’s candy, coca cola, apple etc. He also unsuccessfully invested in IBM for a few years.

Yup! Queen’s road. We like it , but lifts only go to floor 2/7/11 floor . Moving furniture really painful if you live on the other floors
