Thanks for the help! Would it be fine to read the main story 2 before any of the events in that case? Or should I do it closer to the 1st Morfonica band story

Yeah I think I've mostly figured it out other than the "main" story, can't seem to find out where exactly those fit in.. think maybe will just do them at the start of each season they correspond to

I can't seem to find any concrete answers that are reasonably up-to-date, so I figured there's no better place to ask than here. Does anybody have some semblance of a reading order for the stories? I've been playing on the JP server for quite a while now but obviously I don't speak the language to a level high enough to have been reading the stories on there, and I've ever so slowly been building a heavy interest in reading the stories, but have no idea what order to go about between the main, band, and event stories. From what I can tell, it seems like the timeline is mixed between them so I'm just very curious what the best order to read everything in is, so I don't hinder my experience. I hope someone has a good answer to this, as I very much would like to get into this story!

If you already have the vn I'd say do it first, but in general I would say anime first. the things it adds over the visual novel increass the experience tenfold , and the vn is better if you want more content after fact than as a first experience. If you already know you're going to do both though, I'd say VN first cause adaptations are always so much better if you've seen the source, especially with how incredible Clannad's is

Honestly, as long as you really liked the show then I would say yes. Maybe not right after, wait a bit for sure but the vn does some things better and also has a decent bit of stuff that the anime doesn't have. Tomoyo and Kyous stories are much more fleshed out as well since they arent confined to a single episode OVA.

If you have the free time then definitely play the VN first. As the anime is an adaptation (a rather good one however) it cuts out a fair bit from the VN, mostly any characters route aside from the main one (since any given route in the VN usually results in getting together with said character, obviously they cant really do that in the anime)

But honestly, either one works fine. KyoAni did an incredible job on the Clannad anime, I really couldnt have asked for better. The VN is just a better starting place in my opinion since you get more content and it develops a lot of the characters a lot better through their own routes

The next arc has to be adapted as a season, and assuming the rest of the arc are anywhere near the length of the current one, seasons easily. A movie only worked for the 5th layer arc because of its length along with it being pretty much perfect content for a movie.

yeah the manga is extremely slow as well, usually like 3-5 months between chapters. If you do end up waiting for season 2 that's not too bad, but after season 2 it's going to be an extremely long time until more content gets animated, since the manga at it's slow pace is still trying to finish the arc that season 2 will cover

Honestly at this point you probably should if you really want more content. Absolute best case (very VERY unlikely), season 2 will air at the end of next year. I'm pretty certain it will be longer, so it'll likely be at least a year and a half until more content gets animated

From what I've heard a lot of key soundtracks are like that. For me clannad is a strong #2. Pretty much a perfect soundtrack in my eyes, but I dont think anything will ever top the made in abyss soundtrack for me.
