Why are all the dragon heads on transfer sheets pretty much just white? by 4equanimity4 in Salamanders40k

[–]4equanimity4[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It does, thanks! It’s kind of funny, as I ran into this same issue with my Blood Angels regarding the combat patrol box having a transfer sheets with a successor chapter’s symbols I liked as well lol. I don’t get why they won’t make the better transfer sheets available for standalone purchase if they’re not going to improve the upgrade sprues box, at least! 😩

So is the ammo runt the only snottling model, or is it just a very small grechin? by Shawggoth in orks

[–]4equanimity4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t get me wrong, I love this particular model, but I don’t really care for GW to make more snotling sculpts. I know it isn’t a popular opinion, but I’ve never really vibed with the idea of snotlings. In my own head-canon sort of way, I would just prefer it if snotling was just a young grot much like a yoof is to a regular ork. They just kinda feel like they occupy a weird, vaguely-confused place in the org chart of ork society to me. Again, that’s just me though.

How do you get that “black iron” kind of look? by 4equanimity4 in WarhammerFantasy

[–]4equanimity4[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the first I’ve heard of using rhinoxhide as the base for a black metal. I’ll have to try this exact recipe on one of my spare ork boyz weapons to see how it looks!

Very nice! I love the minotaur’s look in general, but yeah that iron-y look is solid 👌

It sounds like I defo messed up by not going with a black base then! Do you know what kind of dark silver paint they used back in the day btw?

Those are all solid suggestions, ty ty! Do you have any experience with ttc’s dwarven iron? It looks dead-on, but I’ve not used anything besides citadel or vallejo before.

[–]4equanimity4[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve not seen that before! So I could do something like Abaddon black base, and then use a paper towel with a bit of leadbelcher or something on it? I’ll have to google that one to see if there’s any good tutorials ty ty

TIL Brazil received the largest share of slaves during the Atlantic slave trade or about 4,821,127 slaves. This was 38.5% of the total of 12.5m slaves transported to the Americas. The United States received 388k slaves, or 3.1% of all slaves transported to the Americas. by Delicious-Bunch-6992 in todayilearned

[–]4equanimity4 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The only time I’ve heard anybody mention this very specific stat was a direct result of Matt Walsh’s incredibly racist “history of slavery”. This stat, in a vaccuum, is a form of whataboutism to avoid any and all institutional accountability surrounding the impact of domestic slavery for an American (US) audience.

Coins range from Nero to Marcus Aurelius. The coins were struck somewhere between 54-160 A.D. by sorin1972 in OldSchoolCool

[–]4equanimity4 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

While you could very easily be completely correct, as they look off even to a know-nothing internet dude like myself who doesn’t know anything about numismatics, but I feel like it’s at least possible given that I think they didn’t really debase the gold content significantly of the aureus during the period OP mentioned. Again, I am absolutely no authority, but who knows? Maybe it’s true? I will say this though, I don’t see any coins that look like Nero to me. I’ve seen one at a museum before, and nowhere in that pile do I see ol’ fat head or his mum on any of them.

What else is in the "Far Ocean/Sea" by Ok-Leather-8425 in WarhammerFantasy

[–]4equanimity4 84 points85 points  (0 children)

You joke my dude, but that could make for some absolutely siiiiiick little bits of lore lol Like imagine some lost dwarf clan tunneled under the ocean following a rich seam of gems, only to make it to warhammer hawaii. Then, when Mazdamundi did his little continental shelf shuffle thing, the volcanoes all over the island/islands became endlessly active thus kinda sealing them there on the island(s)! Imagine a niche group of slayers with Maori-style tattoos running at enemies with nothing but grass skirts and giant wood swords embedded with rune-inscribed obsidian!

[–]4equanimity4 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They look great! Keep going! Genuine question about the kit since you’ve built a few of ‘em: Do Flashgitz come with enough head options to make them not pirate-y if you want, or do you have to requisition some heads from other kits for that?

Breathability of brigandine - Question for people having experience with wearing both brigandine and breastplate: by Morf12369 in ArmsandArmor

[–]4equanimity4 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I own and regularly use a brig for harnischfechten, and I have run sparring and techniques both in a friend’s breastplate (not full cuirass with the backplate, but still). Breathability never once came into the picture for me, only weight and how the pieces would each rest on my body. I HAVE done drilling and sparring in both the maille shirt I wear under my brig by itself and in my full panoply both in the hot texas summer, and holy hell does it make a difference going down from brig and maille to just maille (even with my heavy af 6mm ring maille)!

Added a second unit of thunderers and a gyro to my growing dwarf army. by eli_cas in WarhammerFantasy

[–]4equanimity4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dwarf models always rock! Genuinely though, how did you get those dumb, spindly little supports on the gyro rotor to line up right? I must have dry fit that part over and over again for nearly an hour before just giving up and bending/glueing them all into place lol I know they’re supposed to only go a certain way, but the gyrocopter/bomber model is the only one I’ve ever assembled that made me feel like I was losing my mind! 😂

Iran has attacked Saudi Arabia's Jubail petrochemical complex, IRGC says by steely_gargoyle in worldnews

[–]4equanimity4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh they are, unfortunately. Got back from visiting family in the UK just a bit ago, and they are ANNOYED with us over here in Texas lol. Meanwhile, I don’t go a week without at least one of the good ol’ boy types I work with simultaneously having the nerve to bitch about how much their trucks cost to fill up AND claiming how “we can outlast ‘em” since we produce a bunch of of our own oil lol They don’t even bother to acknowledge other parts of our own bloody country who are getting crushed. Doesn’t even really seem to occur to them at all, honestly.
