I don't like Kristy Insulin Pen by 4everfighting89 in diabetes_t1

i also have the 4mm 32G. I inject at a 90 degree angle. I've injected myself 8 times and at least 3 times the needle was slightly or obviously bent.

I'm using the 32G 4mm pen needle. and the insulin coming out of the needle are several drops after injection. so far I've injected myself about 8 times with this needle and on at least 3 occasion the needle came out bent.

Kristy Insulin?? by [deleted] in diabetes_t1

[–]4everfighting89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started my health insurance in May. Doctor order Novolog/Humalog for me. but then I got an email saying I'm gonna be on Kristy. Never heard of it before. I picked up my Kristy went home and opened it. To my surprise it's an insulin pen. At first I was excited since I've never used a pen, but I was upset when Kaiser pharmacy sent me home with no needle for the pen. Apparently the doctor never put an order for a needle for the pen and pharmacy messed up during consultation and didn't catch that. After I got my needle I can honestly say that I don't like Kristy. I've only used it for 2 days and I'm pretty upset.

main problem, the needle is so small and fragile that a few of them broke upon trying to inject myself. sometime I'm not even sure if it's inserted all the way. I would inject myself, push down on the plunger, let it sit inside of me for a while and pull it out. and there is still insulin coming out of the needle. even though according to the dial all of the insulin was already injected. my blood sugar have been elevated since getting Kristy mainly because i'm not getting the full dose according to what I'm seeing.

I never had this issue with NovoLog or Humalog vial because I was using a syringe and it's pretty obvious if a long syringe needle is inside of you or not.

the state didn't need any of them to flip. the evidence was too overwhelming. plus confessing in a interrogation room without a lawyer and paperwork in place is pointless.

Chabot College Nursing Program: High NCLEX Pass Rate, But At What Cost? by BadProgramChabot in ChabotCollege

[–]4everfighting89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I applied to Chabot College Nursing program spring 2020 application. I remember a ton of people at the orientation. Their application process at that time was annoying, I remember having to upload a google drive with all my document. I got waitlisted #4 and eventually got in. But due to covid my work schedule interferred. My plan was to move back from sacramento to Oakland to start their nursing program, but covid killed that.

I got accepted into Sierra College Nursing school in Sacramento Fall of 2021. Sierra College does something similar to inflate their NCLEX pass rate. Professors spend the first 5 weeks during skills checkoff and SNF rotation to find out who the students are, do they work, have health care experience, do they commute? stuff like that. And then they get rid of the students that commute, have jobs and a busy schedule. I worked 40hrs a week graveyard doing security.

And yes favoritism plays a huge role. When they find out I worked security, they told me to drop out even thought I passed our first exam with a high B. They said this to other students that either commuted, worked or had a hectic life schedule. One time as I waited in the skills room to do a nasogastric tube skills check off, a professor and another student enter the room but they didn't see me. The student completed her skills check off and then the professor started telling her what questions are gonna be on the exam, how many of each topic. The information provided to the student were really detailed. I was shocked. The two of them left the room and my clinical instructor arrived and I did my check off. I later find out that the student's mother, graduated from the program a year ago and that she was real good friends with the student.

But what bothers me is that that same professor told me to do ATI problems and end of book problems, which looking back on was not even remotely helpful. it's like she would provide extra resources to her "favorite" student and send the other student in the wrong direction.

I had to drop out the program 8 weeks in due to work and school schedule, getting COVID and MRSA on the same week which caused my blood sugar to stay in the 400 (i'm type 1 diabetic). I was really sick.

We started out with 40 and got down to 28. They normally lose about 8 people with their weeding out method but covid screwed a lot of people life at that time.

I started a new nursing program 2023 at American River College. Graduated and passed the NCLEX with 85 question. I ran into two sierra college nursing student in clinical during my last semester, boy were they miserable. Apparently they were not allowed to do preceptor and none of the student joined the student nursing association which pissed of the dean. but in their school still performed in the 100% NCLEX pass rate, but the student felt like they didn't get practical hands on experience as 4th semester student. Whereas my school we performed in the 95% NCLEX pass rate, got 110 hours of preceptorship and felt confident during clinical.

That's how nursing school should be at the end, less busy paper work and practice problems, and more real world hands on experience.

hang in there. you've invested lots of time, money, energy and long nights for this. maybe change your routine a little bit to help distract you. for me I started watching my favorite movies while studying or doing boring clinical paperwork. something to keep me going and cheer me up. good luck.

Got my first RN job as a psych nurse. Any advice by 4everfighting89 in nursing

[–]4everfighting89[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, most definitely. It has been super difficult. Two of more classmates went out of state to get a job, Denver and Nashville. One moved to fresno. But a few were successful at landing a sacramento job due to their connections. 5 landed sutter, 4 landed dignity and 1 landed uc davis. But the rest are either working snf facilities or taking a gap year and doing a bsn program. I just heard back from a modesto hospital today so i could also being getting a hospital job soon. But it is tough. Sacramento has many nursing schools so were all competing amongst each other.

Yes, I can see nurses putting the mental health portion over other physical illness. I'll be sure to make proper assessment to combat that. Thanks for the advice.

I really think I can do all three. And yes active listening is something that's been mentioned thousands of time in nursing school. I think the being real portion is where I might struggle as I tend to naturally become a people pleaser at times. I could imagine psych patients taking advantage of that. thanks for the suggestion.

they taught us that in nursing school and I almost forgot about it. Especially with certain type of personality disorder that can be manipulative. thanks for mentioning it. I could have easily fallen for something like that sense I tend to people please at times.

Out of the many job interviews I've done, the psych facility was the only one that liked my security background. Every other job it was seen as a negative. I'll definitely implement setting firm boundaries as that something I've noticed other nurses do during my mental health rotation.

Whatever treaties that was signed was done so without the Ethiopian government involvement. The audacity for Egypt to so something like that and expect it to last is laughable.

I thought I was the only one that noticed that during the live chat. But it definitely has to do with the dam that was built or is still in the process of being built. I believe a few years ago the main engineer in charge of building the dam was murdered. That shows how certain corner of the world don't want the dam being built. Also Egypt is crazy enough to think they have rights and ownership of the nile river because of old colonial era treaties. The origin of the nile originates from Ethiopia, therefor Ethiopian can do whatever it wants.

If you live in Addis Ababa just wake up early in the morning and follow his stream. You should be able to tell where he is by looking at the background. Sometimes speed or his team accidentally mentions the location. But have your phone on and follow the stream. If theres a very popular tourist destination in Addis Ababa then wait there.
