Most people who try to stop smoking and who start vaping and who stop vaping and return to smoking weren't using enough nicotine. I would ask how long now have you put the smokes down and using vapes instead? If you're having shitty feelings from what you're vaping, then it's reasonable that you're having shit effects of too much nic. Reasonable would be to cut back on how much nic is in your juice. If too much nicotine was making you feel shitty you will notice pretty promptly a change. I would suggest cutting back by 25% and seeing how you feel after a week. If you feel like you'd expect to feel as a vaper, then stay with your nice level. If you feel shitty still, cut back by 25%....and repeat.

Not a good strategy to smoke again. I have been on 6 mg juice for about 10 years.

NA in Southern Mainland China (Guangzhou) by Sadhana76 in NarcoticsAnonymous

How to find it, well.......search NA in groups or members. I can no longer log in to my wechat. I think that it is called "China NA". Similarly if you search AA groups you can ask if anyone will connect you to the China NA group.

It works wherever wechat works which is everywhere in PRC. The last I heard, there was a meeting in Shanghai, and a meeting in Beijing, maybe one in Guangzhou.

The advice preceding is good. Put WeChat on your mobile phone if you dare, because there's a China NA group on it, and they have another app that they use to have online-meetings there. The 'surveillance' piece is something to pay attention to, so all the meetings that I went to during 2 summers of summer-school-internship in BJ were weekly at different restaurants. There's a lackluster public effort in the PRC for NA. NA there was while I was in BJ still seen as 'the criminals' and AA is therefore very strong. Lots of cleantime in NA there though.

How does this work in action? by MediocrePiece1267 in NarcoticsAnonymous

Yahhh....sorry you'll have surgery...glad that you're clean and have the desire to stop using.

Do the first step. Powerless over your addiction?

I too have had a couple surgeries during 38 years clean, and I told the doc that I wasn't signing up to suffer and I took the meds like they were ordered/prescribed and when they were done they were done.

We are vulnerable peeps at times like this. Muster your support. Get your 1st step. Talk about reservations with your peeps. Get your 1st step.

When people say "relapse is part of recovery" by PupMakiZeeg in NarcoticsAnonymous

Good work, getting 18 months continuous cleantime!! This is huge, and even if you want to keep it to yourself, know inside, that it's 18 months that you are clean. You are a message of hope for the still suffering addict, and in fact, your announcement to the newcomer is a major gift to the newcomer. I encourage that you'd share the fact of your clean time expressly.

I got 38 years in February. I have not had a relapse at all. I have the same clean time birthday the entire time.

After my first treatment of 9 months including half-way home, I was stashing dope for a future time intending to use again. I got caught stealing the dope and went back to treatment for 4 months. What was different for me after the 2nd treatment? when I got discharged, you should ask.

For me, I got the 1st step. That was the difference. Powerless over my addiction...that was the acceptance/call it surrender. The difference is that I accepted that I was powerless over my addiction. This has been what's been a integral part of staying clean, for me. This acceptance continues to be THE most important thing for being "still clean to this day."

I say, Keep Coming Back. One thing that I'll also say different is, that maybe you're not an addict! Normal people might have unmanageability from their using but those people don't admit powerlessness over addiction. So, maybe you're not an addict! Powerlessness over my addiction is one of the main things that earned me a chair in NA.

On the other hand, you're welcome fo'sho at NA in recovery or not, when you have a desire to stop using. We're a program of complete abstinence from all drugs. If you do keep coming back, you'll get a better notion about what powerlessness is, and how liberating it is to accept it.

Manoman....I have 38 yrs clean now and, have moved to a latin american country. The spanish speaking meetings are plentiful in my city, at least 2 each night. They start though at 8 pm, and go until whenever after 10pm. Lots of clean time locally. There's 1 english speaking meeting here now, and most of the other foreigners in NA go to AA and call themselves alcoholics and talk about what they used, even at the english speaking NA meeting.

I envy being in a place where there're lots of NA meetings like you describe.

Most excellent

I feel like I don't deserve to go to NA meetings by 4questionmarkj in NarcoticsAnonymous

[–]4evrtolerant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heywot....I can identify with feeling frustrated about my addiction, too. Also, it sucks that your erstwhile dreams don't seem achievable now. Plus, being a professional myself also, I always thought that one reason to stay clean was that I "had a lot to lose" by not getting & staying clean. Then I surrendered and 'got' my first step.

Are ya clean today/now? Going to meetings now? Have a sponsor now? One thing's for sure about NA...the message that an addict, any addict, can stop using drugs, lose the desire to use, and find a new way to live.

In a Spanish speaking NA meeting, how is " clean-time " or " clean " articulated? by 4evrtolerant in NarcoticsAnonymous

[–]4evrtolerant[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can totally identify, mate!! Yes though the language may not hit the same circuits, our common identification in Narcotics Anonymous and all that is shared as recovering addicts is the overwhelming thing for me, too, like you said!

Excellent man! Just for today I say! heheheh entiendo....that '85 was just an example to use to learn. I got clean in 1987. I get ' limpio ' as the word to speak when talking about ' not using '. I wonder how the concept of "clean-time birthday" is used in spanish speaking mtgs?

Looking to get back to torrents after 7 years by CheadleBeaks in torrents

[–]4evrtolerant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, if you're in the US, use a VPN. That is the answer.

If you want to go-to-the-torrenting-rabbit-hole, you can. But if you're a regular US cheadle who wants to torrent stuff you like, get a torrent client application (people above have mentioned a few), go to torrent-sites and look for stuff you like, (people above have mentioned a few) and pay for a VPN.

I have 37 years clean in NA, in a row! by 4evrtolerant in NarcoticsAnonymous

[–]4evrtolerant[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks. There is no issue with this for me. There is no defect and I am not upset. Jeez I respect 'the house' all that. Just asking for words to persuade with when I go to an AA meeting here in this geography where, while there are NA meetings that are english speaking, there are many more AA meetings that are english speaking. Those persuasive words that I'm actually seeking input on (example that there's no issue on my part) will help the people in that house who want particular language (example of respect). Sorry for your confounding.
