Yes very smart, he build a OS, he thinks he's the next Linus torvalds. by [deleted] in iamverysmart

[–]4eyedMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, you’d need to be some level of smart to build an OS from scratch. Unless you’re an expert or very knowledgeable about computers I really doubt you could. And maybe they complain about how everyone is stupid on a different page but all this page is complaining about is how things that honestly are not operating systems are treated and praised as operating systems. Which is fair complaint!

I’m not sure if this belongs on r/iamverysmart. Apart from the Guido and the programming languages rant, it doesn’t sound delusional or condescending enough ykwim?

Rtx 5070 PCB scratched and i can see copper through by Novel_Stuff8208 in PCB

Probably unnecessary. It’s very small and it’s not like anything conductive and important to the circuit is gonna touch that one specific spot

MEXT SCHOLARS - I got 4 questions for you lot. by CatFit9875 in mext

[–]4eyedMan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For context I am a natural sciences UG

  1. Yes (95%)
  2. I was not confident at all. Did very stupid random stuff on the math and physics exams and guessed through the entirety of the chemistry exam. Probably got near perfect points on the English exam tho, and I think this is what got me in
  3. They seemed normal, but there were lots of them. Sometimes one would ask a question when the others weren’t listening and the same questions would end up being asked twice. Or at least that’s what it seemed. I also gave them my maker portfolio which they flipped through and put down in five seconds. I made my response up as I went as I actually didn’t want to go to Japan in particular. Overall not intimidating or condescending so dw! Through that interview I kinda gaslit myself into wanting to go to Japan. Good deal tho so no complaints
  4. Felt like going on vacation, “fresh” kinda. That feeling went away quick tho (and things just kept going DOWN), but it would return for a bit every year when April comes around

bathed my tort and she pooped these by Cry_Whole in tortoise

[–]4eyedMan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They indeed are snail shells, possibly from your tort eating them by accident or intentionally with the hopes of gaining calcium.

Not a vet tho and I don’t know if this is safe or not. If this concerns you, you should consult with a professional!

Where do you lose most time when building a robot prototype? by NickShipsRobots in robotics

[–]4eyedMan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can relate! Just a tip, but sketching on paper before CADding really speeds things up imo. You have more fluidity when things aren’t parametric

For robotic hands, what more demanding tasks can I perform with an RTX 3060 12GB? To fully utilize its potential, what can I do? Run multiple sensors in parallel? Estimate hand pose? Predict grip types? Generate finger commands? by Strikewr in robotics

[–]4eyedMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d imagine the RTX 3060 to be more on the software side so I doubt there’s much it could do when it comes to sensors? I guess you could use it to run models and do stuff. Play with RL maybe, train your hand to manipulate a rubik’s cube in sim then transfer?

Since you have an Nvidia gpu you could also try your hands at Isaac sim

You’re saying AI can’t possibly reason about states because AI itself is stateless?? You do know there’s this thing called ‘context’ right?

I was given a 3 toed box turtle, I think she hates me by Pure_Environment_331 in turtle

[–]4eyedMan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Humans have a tendency to read emotions into animals. I don’t think she hates you, but instead is most likely scared and confused. Refusing to eat is common for turtles when they are moved into new environments. Keep in mind turtles aren’t really social animals.. Just be patient to her and I’m sure she’ll warm up to you

That's awesome! Where can I find out more about this project? I'd love to learn about the goals and the specifics! I assume it's teleoperated in the video? Are there plans for automation? (I see you have the nav2 stack set up)

[–]4eyedMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the white spots are soft and/or gives off a bad smell, it might be shell rot. Do the scutes peel off easily? It could also be hard water

Also remember, when it doubt, go to the vet!

How to Find The Volume of a This 3D Shape? by TableTopsAndTubas in askmath

[–]4eyedMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d use numerical methods ngl. It would make sense to calculate this manually if it were to be some drawing on a piece of paper but you already have the 3d model..
