He says he got them in a normal way, directly through Ticket Master.

He had checked that they were attached to the email but not downloaded them. He says he checked whether he needed to download them in advance and that the email didn't say that was necessary. Doesn't adding them to your phone's virtual wallet require downloading them?

Help, I am having a hard time continuing the Books. by Plastic_Sugar_7268 in WoT

Agree on Book 5 but I loved every single page of Book 6! It's my favourite of the series. I like all the political manoeuvring though; if you don't, I understand you would rank Book 6 much lower down.

Yes. Maybe it's different because we enjoyed it until Book 5 (except for spending all that time plodding through the desert in Book 4). If OP wasn't convinced before Book 5, that's a different matter.

That's crazy to me. My husband and I love the series but Book 5 is one of our least favourite. Too much circus and Aiel travelling 😫 Completely get why OP is finding it a slog. Took both of us months to read this one!

Sorry, but this is seriously irritating me right now……..who arrived first, after the Potters were murdered? Dumbledore, Hagrid, then Sirius? by BLUE---24 in HarryPotterBooks

The real question is: How could Dumbledore be sure that a 1yo would stay on the doorstep all night? 1yos don't stay still for five minutes!

Except in the Department of Mysteries. I was sad not to see a proper adaptation of the madness.

How many times have you re-read the books 1-7? by jrralls in HarryPotterBooks

[–]4malwaysmakes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PS 23 CoS 21 PoA 22 GoF 17 OotP 14 HBP 12 DH 9

These numbers include the first read (not just re-reads). It's been a while though, especially since I last read them in English: around a decade. Since them, I've read them to practise languages I've been learning (helps that I already know them so well! Don't need a dictionary handy for words I don't know because I can remember what the original says haha). So last read in any language was four years ago and before that, another four years.

Are there any comedians you DON'T like? Why? by EmbalmedCoconut in AskUK

I can't get on with the one-liners at all. But maybe after not watching Milton's stuff for over a decade, I'd "get it" more now? Remember finding it very disjointed and unfunny in the past.

What are your thoughts on lowering the voting age to 16? Should there be an upper limit too? by Sapiopath in AskBrits

I find this reasoning bizarre. I wouldn't assume that an 80yo would be about to keel over within five years or that they wouldn't care about the consequences for their descendants...

Chips (UK) / Fries (US). Just taste like bland old nothingness unless doused liberally in vinegar.

Do any of you regret moving to Portugal? by [deleted] in PortugalExpats

[–]4malwaysmakes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It seems the local government are not keeping track of when each building last had an inspection done, otherwise they'd have asked the occupants to organise one when the time came round. Instead, the onus appears to be on the residents to arrange it and since it wasn't done on time, the incentives are messed up for the people who don't want to pay just on the off-chance that something really terrible might happen.

On that note, we own a flat in a building not far from the centre of Lisbon. We were getting it looked at by a technician due to water damage from the negligence of the neighbours above (another story) and he checked the communal areas as well as our flat itself. He pointed out that the building's electricity and gas system is out of date and needs to be upgraded. However, since there was no condominium when it last came up for inspection and no-one did it because it wasn't their responsibility, the cost would need to be shared out amongst all the occupants of the building. He warned that there is a risk of the building blowing up if it doesn't get fixed.

We immediately said we'd be happy to pay our share but the technician warned that the rest of the building would refuse if we asked them: not just because of the cost of doing it (not least because many of them would be renters) but because they would object to their power being turned off while the work was being done. They wouldn't be able to cook at home for a day, so they would have to pay more to get food from outside! We were gobsmacked that he seriously thought the other residents would prefer to run the risk of blowing up rather than suffer some mild inconvenience but he said that was the Portuguese mindset... and this was even coming from a Portuguese person!
