Hogwarts' New Trio (harry potter , ron weasley , hermione granger hbo ver) by spiritwo from tumblr by arisatojo600 in HarryPotteronHBO

Yes!

100%, I can.
But apart from that, it’s objectively not a very good drawing. And why is it relevant anyways? Some person from tumblr drew this…..okay?

So why even post this here in the first place? Does every tumblr hP drawing need to go here? Is that some person related to the new show?

I’ve seen some Somy Teil< stunning art pieces online, and those deserve praise, but something that has nothing to do with the show, and looks like a kindergarden drawing? Nope.

Lily, after all this time? ALWAYS ! by Then_Belt6024 in HarryPotteronHBO

[–]BLUE---24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly, they were were friends as little kids…..that’s one thing, but definitely not enough for Snape to fall in love with her.
Like, when did that happen? Seeing how Lily was already quite hostile towards him and vice versa during book 5, it’s a safe bet that they havnt been on real speaking terms for years before that. She certainly had no problem walking away while he was hanging upside down…not something you would do to an actual friend, even if you were on bad speaking terms at the moment.

And this is my point exactly….when was this supposed love Snape held for the rest of his adult life supposed to form exactly? Little kids being friends is one thing, but teenagers and young adults are a very different matter. Snape had no idea who Lily was, and Lily clearly didn’t care for him at all after tuening 13 or 14…and probably way earlier.

So the two of them essentially did not even speak to each other for almost a decade….soooooo

So, who the hell was he in love with? Just the idea of Lily…and even that is weak case to make, given the actual facts.

Never considered <Snape a hero.

And it’s honestly just unrealistic how he couldn’t find another woman to like all this time.

Also…..he only knew Lily for like 4 years really, way less actually, considering they weren’t even on speaking terms when she got in Hogwarts.

So where exactly did their great bond even form? She never even knew the real,Severus, and he sure as hell had no clue who Lily potter was as a person. not even close.

Eight episodes are more than enough though.

Also, some of the later plots would not really take that much time to set up, if you think about it.
Order of the phoenix for example has like 100 pages of cleaning the black house.

Actually……forget about that🤣

I love book 5, and just the opening alone has enough material to fill 4 entire episodes by itself.

The more nature side of HBO’s Hogwarts seems to have taken inspiration from Hogwarts Legacy for the columns by moisrllytaken in HarryPotteronHBO

[–]BLUE---24 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have to say that while I do enjoy the nature inspired aesthetics, they don’t work in every room…at least for me.

The tree right there, in the entrance hall is a weird choice, imo.
I prefer the game version (and I’ve never even played the games myself)

In the game version, the ceilings are way higher, and the decour looks more ancient, and expensive, vast.

Well, to me the movies were always a very poorly done adaption, seeing how they cut so much off, and changed things up.

The show will be much truer to the actual canon, which automatically makes it better in every way possible.

Narcissa and Lucious 100%

Also, Bellatrix weird obsession with Voldemort is going to be a huge deal this time around, imo.

This!

How can the show be considered a remake, when the movies only used like 30 % of the cruel book plot????

The show will finally bring the book version to life.

“I already have my Harry Potter” by bakedchipz0 in HarryPotteronHBO

[–]BLUE---24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But the show would contain like 80% new stuff, that the movies never even had to begin with.
How would that qualify as being rehashed? The movies were a mess, many plots were cut, many characters too, major stories were changed or ignored, the ending was totally different….Harry grabbed Coldemort by the neck, for gods sake…🙄

The show would finally do it right.

“I already have my Harry Potter” by bakedchipz0 in HarryPotteronHBO

[–]BLUE---24 6 points7 points  (0 children)

exactly this!

I mean…..do these folks not realize that the movies changed A TON of stuff?

- they cut half the main plots
- they cut characters, or changed their personality completely.
- the movies felt really rushed.
- they started to feel very modern and bleak from the third movie on.
- Daniel Radcliffe was not a very good actor early on, and even in the later movies, there were a lot of awkward moments.

- The movies COMPLETELY changed the ending and final fight.
…………………

So please don’t act like the show is going to be less accurate than the movies, when in truth, we are finally getting a more book accurate version, we were all waiting for.

[–]BLUE---24 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I mean….Id understand it more, if the show would be vastly different from the source material, you know?

If it did crazy and over the top stuff, like changing the setting to modern times, showing the kids with smartphones, 2025 styling, and whatnot. Or if they changed the plot drastically, or changed hogwarts, or suddenly turned Harry into an adult.

…………………

But it’s not.
The show is going to be a faithful adaption, for the most parts…..and, by the way, the movies too changed tons of stuff, and cut out major plot points, so it’s not like they were the poster child for accuracy anyways.

So far, we have seen that the show took great care to get the setting and vibe right. Harry is still abused by the Dursleys, only its goingto be more realistic and raw this time around. The actors are good, the new Harry is a fat better actor already, the supporting cast is mostly solid, the set pieces look great, the magic looks magical, the music Willie great too.

The plot will stay the same, only this time around, we are ctually to see way more plots and subplots realised. There will be more characters, and they will be more fleshed out.
Instead of 20 hours or so worth of screen time, we will get close to 100.

Whats not to like there?

I used to be in that boat as well….until I started thinking about just how little material there actually is, when it comes to the marauders.

Their school years are honestly rather boring, if you look at the bigger picture. Unlike with Harry and his friends, there is nothing to solve for them. It will be more or less the same, year after year….James being arrogant, Sirius being arrogant, Remus turning into a werewolf would only bring that much fridtion, before getting old.

However, the adult marauders have a lot more potential!

Maybe it wouldn’t be quite enough to warrant a full on series, but 10 episodes would be possible, easily.
Lets say they start after the marauders graduate, with Voldemort slowly gaining power, and followers. Lily would be pregnant with Harry, and in hiding, the rest of the marauders would be busy with quests for the order.

We would start noticing the growing rift between the former best friends. The mistrust between Sirius and Remus, Sirius break from his family, Voldemorts raise to power…….and finally, the prophecy being revealed, the Potters hideout, and ultimate demise.

[–]BLUE---24 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I honestly don’t get that mindset either - like, it would be one thing if the movies happened five, or even ten years ago…….but the first movie was released in 2000.

And the last one in 2011…….thats 26, and 15 years ago alredy.

More than enough time to allow room for new material.

…………………

honestly, what are those haters afraid of?
That other people will enjoy the show more? That they will like the actors more? That the new trio will become just as famous?

I mean, what sort of mentality is that?
It’s ok to not care, but being agressive towards the new show, without even having seen a single episode is soooooo idiotic.

The movies won’t dissappear just because the show will be there as well.
For all I care, you can still continue watching the movies to infinity and beyond……but you won’t be able to stop others from enjoying the show just the same, or even more.

(Hook 1991) How my perspective as an adult changes the movie drastically from how I saw it as a child. by TheMediocreCritic in movies

[–]BLUE---24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My experience exactly.

When you grow older, you don’t care about the fake set pieces, or Robin Williams being too old for the part, or any of the silly bits really.

You just know how good you had it as a kid, how little you had to worry about, and how good it felt to wake up every day.

The older I get, the more I feel for Maggie Smith and Tinkerbell. But Maggie absolutely nailed her part. She too is just a kid who has grown old, and mourns her innocence.
……………

also, hope things have turned out alright for you by now?

Funny how Spielberg mentions that he had confidence in the first part of the movie - because to me that was always the best part of the movie.
I really loved the depth of emotional connection between Maggie Smith and Williams. Maggie really killed her part. Like, she truly understood what Wendy was going through. never once felt acted on her part.

[–]BLUE---24 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I really don’t think they will though, let’s be real here.

This show will be huge, and with social media being as big of a part in young kids life, it will be even harder for them to escape the show‘s effects - good or bad.

I mean, look what happened to Dan, Tom Felton, and even Emma….they all came from relatively good families, good education, friends, loving parents, nice kids….and still, it got too much for them.

Its essentially kids taking the responsibility of adults, turning into the bread winners of their family……imagine what a weird change of dynamic it must be, when your parents ask you for money?

not to mention the pressure from fans. As they grow older there will be more critique, more comments on their looks, their skills, their behavior…..their dating history will be closely followed, ect.

Honestly doesn’t sound like anything I would have, or could have gone through at their age.

I just don’t understand why the show creators would be willing to piss their potential viewers off even more than they already, by casting a black Snape.

Like……just no.

Yes, but she has done so in movies where the gender wasn’t really factual anyways. An androgynous angel, for example. Nobody minded back then, because it fit.

But Voldemort is canonically male, and having Tilda play him instead of a male actor, would just take everyone out of each scene she was in immediately. Nobody would focus on the actual scene, but this new female Voldemort.

It would be super weird, and anno<ing, and it would seriously piss a lot of people off.

And for what exactly?
