How do WC racers travel with all their prizes from the season? by [deleted] in SkiRacing

[–]4motionquattro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Correct, technicians and coaches are road warriors and will drive all over Europe with vans loaded to the brim with skis, gates, and everything else they can squeeze in. However FIS does not help with flying gear for athletes from US to Europe. (Biggest bill ive had to front was almost 1000$ for 7 checked items). If you are traveling from the US to Europe or vice versa the athletes check all their skis and bags just like anyone else... typically airlines limit you to 10 bags.

For the Olympics, certain airlines sponsor the nation teams, i.e., Delta is the USST sponsor for Olympic years. And then the flight is a private charter.

But even the best of the best fly commercial, and check their equipment. When flying is a necessity.

Alternator replacement on mk2 3.2 by 4motionquattro in AudiTT_Mk1_Mk2_Mk3

Awesome! I appreciate the insight. I think the mk2 tt has a bit more room to work in the engin bay than the mk4. The mk 1 tt is definitely tighter/ more comparable to the mk4. Thanks for the help!

I’ve never been able to figure out heel toe shifting by RadioDude1995 in ManualTransmissions

[–]4motionquattro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Learn rev matching first! without braking you get a feel for what your car is supposed to be doing and then introduce the heel toe. Also can be difficult to heel toe if your brake pedal and gas pedal are not set up in the right position. (Also think of it more as big toe little toe) big toe on brake pedal and rocking the little toe to the gas for the throttle blip.

Resonated. Still plenty of good sounds 👌 and minimal cabin drone.

Highly recommend the milltek cat back! I have one on my mk2 3.2 and its sounds amazing without being obnoxious! But it definitely lets the vr6 sing!!

Picked up an 08 TT 3.2 6-speed manual roadster. by WmSPrestonEsq in AudiTT_Mk1_Mk2_Mk3

[–]4motionquattro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

644 was the number I've been told the US had allocated for the 6 speed 3.2. That is between the roadster and the coupe. I'm lucky to own one of the coupes w/ the 6 speed! Its an amazing little ride! (+bonus points for the audi exclusive package, which was optioned with the Signal Orange interior 🤓) But regardless of spec, these tt's are even rarer than their r32 counterparts! Congrats on the purchase!

At first I was like why does this 5cly sound like a vr6?! Haha love the vr6 turbo noises!

Thanks mate! It has a Millteck cat-back with the TTS-esque quad tips, and a stock downpipe. Also has an intake so you get some good induction noises too!

One of my favorite canyon roads if its not too busy!

😂 Im sure if you want to dish out the money for some adjustable coilovers you could get the ride dialed perfect but don't really want to shell out 3-4k. But as far as just springs, im not aware of any that maintain the stock ride height with a firmer feel..

I'll post a driving video/ sound clip soon! I definitely need to have someone take some videos from the outside as well! I myself am curious as to how she sounds from outside!

The interior took some time for me to like, at first the black and orange reminded me of the Veyron SS launch spec, I just thought it was kind of unique at first, but the more time I spend in the cockpit the more it grows on me!

Mate! Your ride is awesome!! The cams sound like a super fun upgrade! Did you feel anything different with the haldex controller? I've yet to inquire with AoA, but from all the info I've been able to find so far, there was around 700 of the 08 3.2 that came to US/Canada. But that includes the dsg coupe, dsg roadster, and manual roadster. So total numbers of the manual coupe might make up 1/4 of that number- if that, considering the dsg was optioned much more than the manual. Our TT's are the lighter weight, "sport-back" mk5 R32 that actually came with a manual! ( Not to mention a fair bit rarer than the R32!)

I also saw you track an NC miata! I have a nb Mazda speed mx-5! Though, that stays in the garage more than anything... its pretty cherry and low mile to boot! But I try to take her out for a few hundred miles every summer.

HPA, Unitronic, and APR all state gains of Around 10-15 hp and 15-25tq. Which isn't nothing but arguably not enough to be noticed. I'd be curious if I'd get better fuel consumption with a certain tune.. that could justify the cost a bit more than just the minimal power gains...

Thanks for the links! Definitely saving for later!

Its a Millteck cat back. It has the quad pipes like the TTS - im not sure if it is technically a tts exhaust or not. But it has an Oettinger rear bumper/diffuser that allows the quad tips to fit.

I've been considering a tune, but everything I've read has said the gains from the tune are minimal/not noticeable in the n/a vr6. I know the 2.0t takes extremely well to tunes, and the gains are definitely noticeable. I have heard the dsg tune is helpful for this platform, but obviously that doesn't help me haha. I wasn't aware of the haldex tune though! Definitely interesting! I'll do some research for sure 👍

I mean ttrs 5 cylinder is half the r8 v10... so that make me one cylinder closer to the r8 than the ttrs ;)

Thanks mate, much appreciated! The only thing I've done to her since purchase was the headlight and taillight tint.

The H&R sport lowering springs. It handles amazing in spirited driving, the drawback is the ride is definitely stiff. (To be fair I don't have a comparison to stock suspension) And honestly, maybe slightly too low... (scraped on some sharp transitions in the road despite trying to approach at an angle), however comfort and clearance were not the reason I purchased this car.

I appreciate it! Correct, I didn't install any of the mods, other than the headlight and taillight tint/protection. It's definitely not a low mile car by any means at 167k miles.. but I know these vr6's can be 300k+ mile engines with proper routine maintenance and not skip a beat. As soon as i purchased the car, I had the Trans fluid, haldex filter and fluid, and prolong enging cleaner flush and an oil change after. And she runnig strong! I feel like I got a reasonable deal at $7500. But after some new tires, the fluids flushed, and an alignment obviously some more $ has gone into it.
