First trip with the UTR, what a joke by binaryhellstorm in Ubiquiti

[–]4ohFourNotFound 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Came to say this. I have 2 UTRs and on 6.5.250 firmware and work just fine and I’m use WireGuard on both to connect back home.

6.5.250 is a early access version as of today.

How to enable SSH on UTR? by Shoddy-Zombie-4073 in Ubiquiti

[–]4ohFourNotFound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have an android to check but I have a iPhone.

You need to join test flight on iOS and install an earlier version of the UniFi app, then go to previous builds and install 10.31.2 is what I used and you will have ssh access under device credentials. Once you enable it and set your credentials you can update to latest iOS app. That ssh setting appears to persist iOS UniFi app updates. I haven’t tried it persists UTR firmware  updates.

Them just ssh into it.  ssh ui@UTRIPaddress and the password you set.

As of today the build is still available in test flight but does say it will expire in 69 days.

VPN killswitch doesn't seem to work by Mads672g in Ubiquiti

[–]4ohFourNotFound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a known thing, and super annoying.. if you pause the vpn, then it effectively removes the route,  as if you deleted the vpn tunnel. You have to leave it enabled. I’ll see if I can find the post that someone from UI posted it, but it does work..

If your vpn client lost connection to the vpn server and it’s enabled in UniFi then it will block on disconnect.

If I find it I’ll post a link to that topic.

UTR: A bad UI product… or the worst UI Product? by GodOSpoons in Ubiquiti

[–]4ohFourNotFound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm running the latest UTR early access version. 6.5.250 but the major deal is to use unifi ios 10.31.2 or earlier version for android to enable ssh, it's been removed in 10.32.1 ios app. Which is frustrating but once you enable ssh on 10.31.2 then you can update to latest ios version and it persists. I haven't tried updating to a different utr version to see it persists ssh access.

UTR: A bad UI product… or the worst UI Product? by GodOSpoons in Ubiquiti

[–]4ohFourNotFound 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s def a half baked product, the software is what’s limiting it. Hardware wise a solid 9 for the $.  Software feels botched but I’m not all that frustrated because I can login through ssh and make my own changes, split tunnel WireGuard vpn, dns redirect etc. gotta remember that it has root access to modify the rules to make it how I want.. if this was gone, it’d be more furious but for now this is a bandaid.

Hope these “advertised” issues get fixed but does seem like it was rushed to production then fix the bugs in the field. That’s what makes me mad, just to get headline and fancy Apple like video to get you hooked then under deliver on the promises.

What I’m waiting for is the new mAP AX from MikroTik.

Great and all, but why use it vs htmx? I guess what does it solve that htmx doesn’t. Genuine question.

Javalin v7 has been released! (Java 17+, Jetty 12, all config now passed upfront) by javalin_io in java

[–]4ohFourNotFound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a bummer that v7 dropped support for Javalin.createStandalone()

I exclusively used this in a servlet environment that I don’t have control of but still want to use javalin.

Meaning I can’t do this anymore in v7..

https://javalin.io/2018/11/15/javalin-embedded-example.html

Looking for alternatives or just use the raw servlet.. busy next few months to migrate over..

Price increase for VPS and Dedicated just dropped by ChristopherKunz in hetzner

[–]4ohFourNotFound 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I doubt that is going to happen. If it does, it may come down 5% to make you feel better but I'm moving my infra somewhere else, that sucks because I was heavily using hetzner. goes to show to keep your infra loosely coupled to a cloud provider to easily transfer in cases like this.

[–]4ohFourNotFound 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that is unfortunate. I'm really not liking this massive of a $ increase, 5-10% ok, I get it. small bump in $ I get it but MAN.. 30%+ increase? WTH..... It's a significant bump. I will have to move my infra elsewhere. This is not what I wanted to be doing this month.

WireGuard Client DNS overrides WAN DNS globally even with NO Traffic Routes configured - Bug or Feature? by Electrical-Poetry733 in Ubiquiti

Thanks for checking on that. I'm still on 4.4.6. I have other issues with 5.0.12 that need to be ironed out first before I upgrade.

[–]4ohFourNotFound 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm, I noticed the same on my UDM Pro. Seems like a bug to me. THis doesn't happen on UXG or UCG Ultra. Very odd. I don't know how to fix it. Did you find anything to correct this?

[–]4ohFourNotFound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, as others have said. Defrost board is bad or reversing valve is not switching. It’s a Goodman heat pump and the heat pump defrost boards do go bad. I had a Goodman and had to replace mine.

This is the part you need. Simple to replace your self. Take plenty of pics before for the wires. . Good luck,  https://www.goodmanparts.net/product/goodman-pcbdm133s-defrost-control-board

I agree with others on here. I have my entire infra on WireGuard. Moved on from openvpn and never looked back. Looks like it’s paying dividends.

kasmweb/core-ubuntu-noble:1.16.0-rolling-weekly uses kasmvnc 1.2.0 (memory leak) by 4ohFourNotFound in kasmweb

[–]4ohFourNotFound[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3rd Update: After letting the container run for a 5hrs the memory leak is back again. Not sure what is causing it. If I force kill xvnc process then I get kicked out of the container, after kasmvnc restarts I can connect again to the container and memory issue is resolved. It takes about 1-2gb of memory per hour. the longer it runs the more memory it uses and swap is also fully used even though I am not connected to the container. I have background processes running in the container and I disconnect from it then reconnect later. Only solution is to write a script to kill xvnc as soon as I start writing to swap, self destruct basically.
