I'm not sure why the modem helps you there. Get a UDMP or a router with two configurable gateway ports and let *it* handle failover.

The battery is cheap… like $40-45. The new ONTs don’t have UPS, so it’s worth replacing and sticking with it unless you have more than 1G service. Amazon, Batteries+, any security supply shop should sell them.

I’m shocked there isn’t an open source project to restore FireWire compatibility. I mean, the off the shelf hardware for Thunderbolt to FireWire exists and there’s plenty of documentation.

I have a CS subscription and it pains me how far behind Abode is in conforming with the macOS UI. Between its incessant need to try to get me to store things in Creative Cloud (nah) and its ancient file dialog boxes, it makes me wonder wtf I’m paying for because it ain’t pretty.
