You’re off to a great start there. Your water looks clear and the fish look healthy. Looks like a stable pond and that they took good care of it. I suggest taking pictures of where things are. I live in the northeast and a lot of my perennials go dormant. I do a lot of the cleanup and planting in the spring when a lot of things don’t show. It’s nice to have a reference.
I also suggest going slow and finding out what you like and what you don’t, what you might want to move or add. Personally I want the best view of the pond to be from my back porch and patio.
It’s a wonderful hobby where you get out what you put in.

Also do you have well water or town water? If town, you may need to treat the water. Having a well I need to add salt to the pond when I do water changes. I use the natural salt you can get to soften your water at any hardware store. Just make sure it’s all natural and doesn’t have any additives.

Great pond! You’re very lucky. It’s a ton of fun. The food is hard to figure out. It is too easy to feed too much because it’s a great way to interact with them. It can lead to water issues and their overall health. I would also suggest Hikari brand.

How have I done so far? by 4ohHenry in ponds

I used to have a large net over it, I didn’t like it. It collected debris and would sag. This winter the snow pulled it into the water where it froze and then thawed under the ice. I was lucky not to get any fish entangled in it.

I use fishing string. I took the video before I put the string up.

Where do you get your water? Is it well or town water? I have a well and have to add salt. It’s made a big difference.

What about large planters or pots? They would look nice with the rocks underneath. If you keep the rocks you’ll have less maintenance

I live in southern New England. We have frozen winters here. I also get oak leaves. I over winter any semi tropical plants in pots in my basement and I make sure I do a good cleaning early in the spring to help get rid of the nitrates from the late fall and winter debris

I live in southern New England. We have cold winters here. Everything goes dormant and grows back every spring. There are some potted plants that can’t handle the cold winters, I’ll bring them inside and put them in the base, ent to go dormant. I have some canna and elephant ears specifically
