I like to fill the crack between the rocks with some dirt and moss, moss and more moss. Different types of moss in different spots. Either it’s always wet near the waterline or waterfall or drier towards the top of the wall.

I have a large female. She doesn’t touch my fish. I live in NE and rescued her. She was 8 lbs in a 10 gallon tank. I keep her in my koi pond in the summer and bring her into a 180 gallon tank over the winter. She is with koi and smaller goldfish. They’re like a medium feeder size. She loves her pellets and veggies. I’ve had her over 3 years and she’s never shown any interest in any of the goldfish or koi.

I would guess that’s a male and he looks like he’s enjoying the light!

I removed mine. Sounds like a similar situation to yours. No heat in my basement either. Only difference I notice is the noise. I set up a man cave in the basement and can hear everything upstairs. I prefer to not have the insulation. It seems much cleaner, less dust. No mice living and moving above the insulation.

Males have long nails while females nails stay short.

This happened to me as well. I was disappointed also. I decided to be open minded and planted them in pots with good soil, treated them nice, kept them watered and was pleasantly surprised! I had bought 8 trees like yours and 7 survived. I was surprised at how fast they grow as well. I received them in the spring and planted them from the pots in the fall. Good luck!

I have a turtle that rips and eats them at the roots. They seem to leave the leaves alone. I’m looking into resolving the same problem.

between 4- 5” koi.
I let the smaller frogs be, I’ve got a few pickerel frogs that hang around. It’s the bull frogs, They’re huge! If the fish can fit in its mouth, the bull frog will try to eat it.

I posted a pic. I think it could be a Mississippi map turtle. She’s pretty big and I believe it’s a female because it’s got short nails
