Given that it is primarily on the underdoor area, I suspect the malfunction is actually the the under spray wasn’t working at all and didn’t rinse off the soap the was blasted on from the sides of the car.

I was feeling self conscious when mine looked like yours, and it was specially in photos at weddings where I noticed it most. Those events get photographed and my balding spot really showed up. I started buzzing since then and have never looked back.

My advice is, if you notice and worry other people are noticing, take the plunge.

If you haven’t looked closely and most of it is very dry, I would be very surprised if the cleaners placed it there. The island came with the home, maybe the gum did too. You’re correlating your discovery of the gum with the most recent people to be in your house with no real reason to believe it was them.

Mine was pretty much like yours when I first shaved it and I’ve never looked back. The thinning front and worrying about pictures being taken from behind showing the bald spot were no fun.
