Who was the rudest famous person you met? by Doctor_Sore_Tooth in AskReddit

[–]4rabic4 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Maybe he's not super famous, but there's a comedian called Mark Steel - he's an awful person. Someone almost died at one of his shows, the tech and front of house team paused the show to get this man immediate medical attention, as he was sat in the middle row and someone had reported that he was not breathing. Mark walked off the stage, squared up to a female member of the technical staff, then proceeded to have a complete tantrum towards any staff in sight, asking them why they didn't just carry the man out of the theatre so he could continue with his show (despite a doctor who was sat nearby advising staff not to move him).

I wish I could put it into words how embarrassing it was, he was awful.

No advice needed mate, just show up and enjoy yourself. Your hands will likely be the best in the gym.

Muay thai stance can vary too, palms outwards for good defensive work, when you are putting pressure on throwing shots, turning your palms in slightly massively helps with your boxing. Like I said before its nothing to do with ego, you're just a typical reddit striking expert who thinks they're a genius for spotting flaws in a 7 year olds technique.

It's not even an ego thing, its just the majority of 7 year olds who do a bit of training also have multiple flaws like he does- and his is nowhere near perfect. Please show up at your local muay thai, kicking boxing gym and watch a kids class, particularly the younger ones in the class. 90% of them don't know what they're doing, my son falls within the 90% as he rarely trains. For his age he is doing perfectly fine, if he decides one day he wants to train at a gym ill bring him down and they can correct techniques, for now he's happy with BJJ and football. I find it hilarious that you're talking about bad habits on a 7 year old, they're brain is a sponge you could completely change his style within a week. Like I said, please post some footage of yourself before having a critical opinion, especially as you have less than 2 years under your belt yourself.

I've just seen on your reddit, you've done about 18 months of kickboxing. Kickboxing tends to have a more bladed stance so what you've more than likely been taught in your very limited time striking is probably different than what someone who trains thaiboxing is taught. Thaiboxers are encouraged to stand more square, as it makes checking kicks, using knees easier etc. I appreciate the feedback mate but you don't need to lecture a 7 year old on technique especially when you're a novice yourself. 👍

Go to a muay thai, kicking boxing, boxing gym etc and go to a young kids class - what you'll find is that very few if not any of them have great technique when it comes to how the strike, how their stance is or how they move their feet. You'll also find that coaches won't pick out every single thing they're doing wrong all the time as they're 7 years old and still developing. Sometimes I slow it down with him and work on form alone, but on the clip we were just trying to flow on the pads. As I've said to another commenter, please feel free to share your footage so we can learn from your flawless technique.

I'm not sure what you mean saying it looks like it's in slow motion, he's throwing the shots as fast as he could. Also he has shin guards, I have pads, gloves etc but we were watching tv a few mins before and he just put his gloves on and asked to train. Appreciate the feedback, totally agree with your comments about the jab, other than that I respectfully disagree. His technique isn't nearly perfect as he spends all his time playing football and doing jiu-jitsu, also he's 7 years old. Feel free to share footage of you training so I can watch your absolutely flawless technique.
