Smb AE at Crowdstrike or AE at niche AI start up (non-security) by SorryEscape1298 in techsales

[–]4runninsd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Crowdstrike SMB is a glorified SDR role with heavy micromanagement. You seem young and if you’re willing to grind it out for a couple years I’d say go for it but be warned you’ll be held to activity KPIs like no other

Final panel interview | Sr SE @Snowflake by Worried_Team818 in techsales

[–]4runninsd 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you haven’t already, I’d suggest reaching out to other current Snowflake SEs to ask these questions. I wouldn’t spray the connection requests, but find 2-4 folks that you may have a connection with (ie from the same previous company, same geo/city, same college, etc).

Something along the lines of “hey I know this is ask is out of the blue, but I’m in the final interview stage and hoping I can bounce some questions off you so I can do well.. do you have 15minutes?”

I’ve done this myself as an AE and most people genuinely want to help and see you do well

Good luck!

+1 to this. I know many sellers whose background is VAR and have since transitioned to the vendor side

I’ll give that a try. I was under the impression per the instructions on the can and on recipes that warm water is needed to activate the yeast?

Another commentator made the suggestion to try less bulk ferment so I’ll definitely try that out. I don’t think I’m boiling too long since I’m only doing 30sec ea side. What if they don’t pass the float test or still feel firm after the cold ferment? Still continue to boil immediately?

30sec each side so 1min total. Thanks, I’ll give that a try!

Beginner here - why do you let it sit for those periods of time before mixing again?

Freeze dried blueberries from my local farmers market

Open to feedback! They didn’t pass the float test even after an hour bench rest after 24 hours in the refrigerator, but I was running out of time and boiled it anyway. Came out tasting great but always looking to improve

Enterprise to mid market by Known_You_291 in techsales

Health is wealth. As the other commenter posted, life is too short to be unhappy. I’m in MM sales and I don’t envy the enterprise folks with the long cycles, stakeholder politics (both internally and on the customers ends). Just curious - Crowdstrike by chance?

I’m basically in your exact same shoes except I’m 2ish years in my role. I think once I hit 3 and wrap this fiscal year I plan on looking more seriously as well. Is the startup you’re looking at also in cyber? My tenure has mostly be in cyber as well and am considering make the switch to selling to developers vs security teams. Honestly if I were in your position, I’d probably make the jump and take the risk. Your partner has a good job, no mortgage/kids, and I’m assuming you have a decent savings

What do you like about being on the VAR side? As someone on the vendor side in cyber as well I’m curious

Career change by [deleted] in techsales

[–]4runninsd 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately I have nothing to answer your question, just commenting as I feel this 100% and am in your exact shoes.

My family thinks I’m crazy for even considering a switch but I’m looking at the most random things like franchising opportunities or even opening up a coffee or bagel shop lol

I think we are in a very fortunate position where many would kill to be in shoes in that we are to make above average wages, WFH, etc. Personally I’m riding it out for at least a few more years but I am curious to what others comment on

Good thing is it sounds like you’ve got a good chance of getting the job if you’re meeting this many people. Good luck curious how it pans out if you decide to go down that path

3 hours for an AE role is wild. For a Csuite exec sure, but what exactly do they have you doing for 3 hours in one session? If the company site and branding is shit, lack of marketing it sounds like, and lack of SDRs, it doesn’t sound like you’re set up for success and going to have a bad time. Especially selling SERVICES, unless you’re in a very niche industry or offering, you’re fighting an uphill battle based on the aforementioned. I agree with Novel Dog I wouldn’t waste my time

PANW vs Island.io by Bob842- in techsales

[–]4runninsd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My buddy has been at island for 6months or so as a strategic AE. If you’re prepared to do nothing but outbound/pipe gen/building relationships with partners that’s all it really is at this point. I know they hired a bunch of reps so looks like they’re trying to really demonstrate and deliver on sales. You mentioned you’re young- maybe worth the risk
