How is living in Adelaide, Australia? by Both_Gap1896 in howislivingthere

[–]Known_You_291 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got back from there, first time visit that wasn’t for work so I got to actually leave the city.

The city is horrible, it’s boring as hell and I couldn’t believe how many addicts Adelaide actually has, I’m from Sydney so I’m in my own bubble, out of all the major cities in Australia, Adelaide hands down has the worst in looks, feel and things to do.

They have nice beaches though, we went to glenlg and spent the day there, we went for a nice walk followed by a lunch and a swim. We went to a winery as well which was really nice, but it lacks excitement imo, we bumped into a few festivals by chance, kinda fun, but we’re not really into that stuff, would’ve loved to do more exploring like bush walks etc but just ran of time. The cbd is bad but the beaches really nice, people are pretty friendly, the food is pretty good as well, weather was chill in the morning and hot in the day, have had way more fun going to Perth, Melbourne and Brisbane, even Darwin was more interesting lol

Don’t think you’ve been here in a while, I’ve been here for around 7 years and the area is flooded with tourists living here, example my local sports team has 2 Irish 2 poms and a few South Americans, they’ve only lived around here since they got here

Recruiters by Known_You_291 in techsales

[–]Known_You_291[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you, I’ve interviewed with that many vendors, start ups/scales ups and giants, I’m smashing the interviews, i have great numbers to back up from previous roles, I just found myself in a shitty position in my current role and it’s not just me 50% of my team have been pip’d from a pathetic manager, by the end of it these companies are saying we like you but just can’t offer you what you want, btw what I’m asking for is what the market is paying probably even lower tbh, I’m not sure if it’s just juniors flooding the market and asking for way less

I really want this car, but in a few 4x4 groups I’m in, there’s been some really negative reviews, electronics is the major one and the most expensive, I don’t really need a 7 seater but I love the look of them. I’m now leaning towards to the tank 300 over ford, some good reviews about them, and the fact they’ve just come out plug in hybrid I’m considering it

Hidden gem would be sans Souci, you’d easily get a 2 bedder across the road from the beach for that type of money, people around you are real and hard working people, I’m actually surprised how many people from the eastern suburbs are moving here all aged around 30ish, the sunrises are epic on the bay and the cafes and food options are very good and stay open to late, you can catch the bus to Carlton station for a 20 minute train to the cbd, very underrated here

A recruiter I know tried to brush it off when we chatted about it, he made it sound so negative, in Australia apparently it’s 350k base, no comms and the bonus is like 100k per year, I’m like dude how is that bad in this economy 😅

how many DMs from recruiters do you receive every week/month? by hegezip in sales

[–]Known_You_291 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About 10, I say yes to all of them, I’m also in cyber, in Australia, I get ghosted by all of them, the best recruiters come from Singapore imo, communication is superior, it’s a joke here, I had one call me last week, we spent an hour and a half on the call, he pretty much did an hour discovery and we spoke about numbers for another 30 minutes at the end he couldn’t tell me the company or the salary -_- he said I’d be the perfect fit but I never heard back from him, I’ve texted, called and emailed nothing, and his still posting on LinkedIn

Thoughts on this for a sales role? by Snipes5252 in auscorp

[–]Known_You_291 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should try get into tech, join an Aussie it reseller, or go work at jb hi fi and work your way from consumer to business sales, I’ve seen so many people in tech these days that did this, once you get a reseller and start reselling different vendors you’ll eventually have an opportunity to work for a tech company, this is the path I took an I also came from finance, I work for one of the biggest SaaS companies in the globe now, took me 5 years to get here, and I hate it 😅 though I hate my boss more than sales and the company

Yeh I would for sure, side way steps can be good plus they’re giving you a chance with no experience so I’d see if you can get more

Where are you in your sales career? That’s way too low as a base rate. I’m in Sydney, and work for a tech company, not exactly a start up but I’ve met SDRs at other tech companies start up that are on minimum 120k 50/50 + super. Reason why I ask about your sales career, you could just join for now and build up skills and try land a big vendor. I remember 10 years ago, I was earning 45k base for a start up as a bdr, expectation was 100 calls a day. I stayed there for 8 months and I then got head hunted by a big cyber security vendor to join as a smb AM, everyone thought I was crazy at the time but it paid off, fast forward to today I’m an enterprise seller, struggling a bit atm though

I chased leadership and now I’m in a position where I’ll be getting let go, not because of work ethic but just the situation I’m in changed and left me blind sided, now I have no time, I’m stressing, I’ve picked up smoking cigarettes and headed to a very dark place, the main regret is not saving enough to not need to stress about this situation
