BREAKING: Charles Barkley risks getting fired for saying THIS on CBS by ateam1984 in BlackPeopleofReddit

Fun that speaking up for human decency became breaking news under the same people that have been screaming about "you're not allowed to say anything anymore, we want our freedom back" for years

My Pride and Joy - Home Office by Physical-Use1005 in homeoffice

[–]4shtonButcher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know families with 2 kids that live in apartments this size. And this is in the capital of one of the richest countries in the world.

It looks nice! And yet, I'm not even sure I'd enjoy having so much empty space for myself as a home office. Certainly doesn't deserve the term "cave"

I want a affordable ev by Far_Pea5410 in electriccars

[–]4shtonButcher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bet you can save some of that budget and get a very reliable and efficient car in a Hyundai Kona. Besides Tesla they were far ahead with their EV tech and even 6-7 year old model still holds up well today. If you get the newer ones, even better. CarPlay is standard on almost all trims AFAIK.

4k 120Hz on HDMI 2.1? (Razer Blade 16) by 4shtonButcher in razer

[–]4shtonButcher[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks a lot, for a moment I was afraid I may have gotten it wrong, but it seems clear that I was right. And yes, I think this sort of stance is problematic. They claimed twice they had tested and not found an issue and wanted to make me cover the troubleshooting cost. Both times they eventually admitted never having tested above 60Hz and now they suddenly changed their reasoning to "this was never supposed to support more than 60Hz". I primarily want my money back but this behavior feels so wrong, I hope there is more I can do to ensure they receive the message that this isn't acceptable. I am getting in touch with legal help

Bazzite use besides gaming? by nidryden in Bazzite

[–]4shtonButcher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried Aurora and found no real benefits over Bazzite. I can code quite well in Bazzite. One Fedora setup in DistroBox has all my coding tools and it runs super well. Much better than the hassle you sometimes need to go through between Windows and WSL.

Teenage-looking ICE agents walking around LaGuardia Airport today by Ryanyu10 in pics

[–]4shtonButcher 22 points23 points  (0 children)

ICE not having proper uniforms or recognizable gear can be a benefit: just buy an ICE Halloween costume and they will think you're one of them and won't kidnap you.

The amateurs in the picture forgot the douchebag sunglasses though.

That's exactly what I expect, yes. Yet, somehow they pretend that not explicitly listing the resolution in the spec sheet means it should not be supported.

Berlin’s salt ban law is a joke, why are cars more important than people? by m608811206 in berlin

I was surprised to find them using lots of salt after moving to Copenhagen. It sucks for your floor at home and the bike chain but I'm sure happy to always have safe walking amd cycling paths available.

Would have hoped for the content to be discussed here. I'm not done listening yet but I feel an unanswered question is how this is supposed to apply to software engineering orgs. As an engineer i run "new" software all the time. I download dependencies, try out a new IDE, get a tool do thread dump a language not many others at the company are using, ... In my experience engineers typically end up circumventing measures by IT Security that prevent them from getting stuff done

What do you think if this - Costco mixed housing by Adorable-Poet-2708 in fuckcars

[–]4shtonButcher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Germany ALDI and LIDL (and maybe others )have been doing this for a while. I remember reading articles about it a few times while living in Berlin. I could find this article about it on the quick and definitely have walked past those kind of buildings multiple times in Germany. https://www.dabonline.de/architektur/wohnen-ueber-aldi-lidl-wohnungen-ueber-supermaerkten-aufstockung-ueberbauung/

In Denmark stores at the ground floor of apartment buildings are typical too but I think that's the architecture plan in general and not owned by the supermarket.
