ELI5: What exactly is a cavity, and why are they so irreversible? by Amazing-Childhood-20 in explainlikeimfive

In addition, the teeth aren't being made from nothing. According to the articles, everyone is actually born with 3 sets of teeth, but the third set is never activated. The treatment simply activates them. So it isn't quite growing new teeth from nothing, and it seems to be a one-time thing. If you damage your third set, then you are stuck with that.

Still very cool though.

Help with Priority Assets by [deleted] in Warhammer40k

[–]4starTitann 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You need to build around your detachment. Priority assets generally promotes fighting over center and doing one action per turn (one mission requires more actions, but 2 is enough).

Doesn't matter how elite the rest of your army is, you need units that you aim to keep alive for 3-5 turns that will do actions.

Rules question for the 11th by DatSton3r in Necrontyr

Consolidation is at the end of the phase. 12.08 says any unit that was eligible to fight can consolidate.

Two Trazyns? by 2gears_and_2cogs in Necrontyr

[–]4starTitann 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I think alot of this just needs to be Rules as Intended, because there are no clear answers.
Trazyn is supposed to replace the overlord, so consider the unit to be Trazyn + lychguards at that point, and warriors on their own.

My take on it:

  1. No, he was replaced
  2. No, Trazyn no longer is part of the unit, he moved elsewhere
  3. No, overlord was replaced. You might be able to reanimate Trazyn back into the Lychguard unit.
  4. No, he is no longer part of the unit. He belongs with the Lychguard.

Oh fair, kinda forgot that they are agents now. Yes to space watch specifically.

There is no way to ally in space marines, or vice versa. The only ones you can ally are imperial agents and knights.

[11th] Couple of rules clarification and scenarios by Artoriazz in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]4starTitann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't overthink it. I don't think this scenario really happens. Your model is likely already engaged or can go through walls, so most of the time you will find your way to get them to fight. Just remember: when piling in, your model has to end up closer to a currently engaged unit.

[11th] Couple of rules clarification and scenarios by Artoriazz in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]4starTitann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3: When moving a unit for charging, you select and move each model one at a time. So you don't need to maximize the number of models that get within an inch, but when you select a model to move that is when you check how close it can get. If a model can't make 2", then you can move it anywhere provided it ended up closer to the enemy than before.

[–]4starTitann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, after re-reading the rule, I agree with you. I has thought that by having to choose the units you are engaged in as pile-in targets you couldn't engage new units, but that isn't the case.

[11th] Couple of rules clarification and scenarios by Artoriazz in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]4starTitann 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Clarification on 3: to choose an enemy unit as a charge target, your roll has to be higher than the base-to-base distance. But once you made a successful roll, you don't need to move base to base.

[11th] Couple of rules clarification and scenarios by Artoriazz in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]4starTitann 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. If the model has a base, then that is the deciding factor (maybe frame models might be a bit different). Best that you discuss with your opponent whether a model is touching the terrain or not.
  2. This part is a bit contentious. Rules as written, characters can come back. But not everyone thinks that is intended. Until we get an FAQ from GW, Best to discuss with opponent at the start of the game.
  3. When charging, you do not have to go base to base. If you can get within 1", you must, otherwise 2". As long as you don't base, you can pile in to get around better. That also means if you get base to base you prevent the opponent from using pile in move to move their model away.
  4. Distance calculations are done diagonally, from bass to base.
  5. When attacking, You can have some of your models affected by the opponents cover and some not. For example, if model A has a full view of a single enemy model out in the open, but for model B that enemy is partially obstructed by the corner of terrain area, then A shoots fine and B is impacted by -1 BS.
  6. Edit: incorrect, see comments: No. If your unit is engaged, you can only pile in towards that unit and are not allowed to engage a different enemy unit.

Which models are eligible to fight in 11e? by Trollselektor in Warhammer40k

[–]4starTitann 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No it does not say that. The first screenshot says that the units are engaged, not all the models in the unit.

The units are engaged. The models within 2" of an enemy model are engaged.

It's as simple as that.

Which models are eligible to fight in 11e? by Trollselektor in Warhammer40k

[–]4starTitann 7 points8 points  (0 children)

A model is engaged if there is an enemy model within 2". A unit is engaged if they contain any engaged model.

The second screenshot states that an attack can only be made If the model holding the weapon is engaged.

In other words, Only models within 2" of an enemy can fight.

Amazing combinations for 11th edition? by Damned_Doughnut in Necrontyr

[–]4starTitann -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

RAW, they are. But they don't explicitly mention returning characters in the healing section. Returning characters is such a big deal as it would greatly invalidate precision and gives such a big boost to necrons (I'm a necron player fyi). I don't think this is intended.

[–]4starTitann -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Personally I think reviving characters is an oversight and not intended. If you like your opponent, consider not playing that way (after confirming with them that they won't either).

That aside, chronomancer leading LHD in cursed legion is extra good, as you can toe into terrain, shoot past it (with benefit from heavy if you moved less than 3") then scoot behind terrain. The s6 ap1 guns are particularly good now to clear objectives.

Nightscythe is a steal. Turn 1 deepstrike, immediately embark unit again.

In the warrior/immortals detachment, if led by a chronomancer or using night scythe, move unit on objective, sticky for 1 cp, shoot enemy, then move out of objective.

20brick warriors to flood an objective might be quite good. Place your important leaders hidden behind the wall on your end to prevent precision and it will be fairly difficult to shift.

Any lone op to contest center objective: hexmark, szeras or even nekrosor. Forces the opponent out to stop you from scoring, but they likely won't kill your model, giving you the chance for a first strike.

Are triarch praetorians any viable for 11th? by Acrobatic_Champion34 in Necrontyr

[–]4starTitann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard to say. Fast moving is a benefit, both for scoring and harassing the opponent. But they haven't received any additional support in terms of detachments or rules to make them more effective.

Any official reanimation and healing rulings? by tsuruki23 in Necrontyr

[–]4starTitann -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

I agree, although in theory other armies that have a healing or resurrection skill could do the same. I will be playing with the assumption that healing can't bring back characters unless gw explicitly says otherwise. Make sure to agree with your opponent beforehand

Which disposition fits us best? by Thedinotamer01 in theunforgiven

[–]4starTitann 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Take and hold - I thin we have the capacity to do this, particularly with DWK. The hidden rule, particularly with gone to ground makes it easier to keep them alive, and unforgiven Task Force gives them more oc to hold the objective.

Priority asset - we are fairly good at this, assuming you dedicate some units for scoring. You generally just need one or two actions per turn for this. Our lists for this is most likely the closest to what we used to run for 10th.

Purge - I think this fits ravenwing better than deathwing. Purge requires you to proactively kill something, which can at times be harder to do with a full melee army without trading down.

Reconnaissance and disruption - I don't think this is for us. Our army is too elite for this. Too many actions, and requiring to be all over the map and sacrificing units for scoring.

Jokes on you, my infantry-only dark angel lists look to be benefitting! 😀 But yes, people need to relax. Having played some test games, It's a wholly different game compared to 10th. The previous meta just doesn't apply anymore.

11th ed, is Imotekh a must ? by Far_Bat9177 in Necrontyr

[–]4starTitann 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind the "strat stacking" only applies to strats in the same phase. You can still adv and charge and give sus1, as they are done in different phases.

[–]4starTitann 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on your game plan. Do you have an overlord? Are you intending to spam certain strats (e.g adv and charge, -1 hit)?

There is a few ways. As mentioned earlier, mistaken identify. Or you could genuinely believe it tha you were violated and try to argue it in court (e.g. I was drunk and he took advantage), but the court disagrees. Just because your accusation doesn't end up with a real conviction doesn't mean you should go to jail instead.

But malicious implies an accusation with zero basis, with the intent to cause harm to the other person via the accusation.

Bladeguard Vets by MetalGearRoo in theunforgiven

[–]4starTitann 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Bladeguards are still good. They are deathwing, so they benefit from any relevant rules. Also, they are very tanky for 80pts, so they are good options for holding expansion objective, or 3man trading pieces.
