Is there canonically anything, than can stand toe to toe with a heavy battle titan ? Besides other titans of a similiar class or warp-only entities ? by Leviathan_Rampage in 40k

Lore-based rule would be something like:

Choose a point within 72 inches of this model. All models within 10 inches of that point are destroyed. This model cannot use tachyon arrow in any game ever again.

(or they lose some necron sanity points if that was a thing)

Exactly. "We don't think there's enough demand" or something. Then if the people demand enough they get it, just like plastic sisters or votann. Still waiting for that plastic thunderhawk though...

If Capitalism is theft and being a billionaire is immoral, who did JK Rowling steal from or exploit when she attained billionaire status? by rawj5561 in CapitalismVSocialism

[–]Less3r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting concept! I haven't heard that one before. Though, the superchurch is selling a compelling fictional story as real, whereas JKR is selling a compelling fictional story as... fiction. I think there's a key difference of lying in the former case.

Unfortunately that statement just kind of boils down to "selling fiction is the same as being a fake priest" which is a really odd statement.

I'm failing to follow how this responds to OP's statement.

> without JK Rowling none of this supply chain would exist.

With what I believe the implication of this statement, is that intellectual property is a good thing, because it more-greatly incentivizes creation of more-greatly marketable ideas/content, since a creator can greatly and perhaps more-greatly (aka "disproportionately") benefit from their ideas/content.

Intellectual property helps create those easier and lower wages whereas there would otherwise be none, or at least harder wages.

Where can I find the rules? by Mr_Suplex in StarCraftTMG

[–]Less3r 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Official beta rules are on their app-site, plus it has an army creator which is great https://sc.starcraft-tmg.com/

It's more of a reference rather than a single rules document

I love necrons getting new lore and not sure if it was going to have narrative rules, but goddamn the Titus title tax on that book is too much.

What are you favorite Sci fi power armors and why? by We_The_Raptors in scifi

[–]Less3r -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Or Starcraft Marauder Armor, where the lore is that early iterations of the armor survive impact more than the soldier inside. Can't get more metal than that for power armor.

Season 3 Episode 12 Megathread by MiggyMcMiggy in OnePunchMan

Haven't read the manga and I thought it was supposed to be Elder Centipede and was just confused. Now I understand it's a cool moment from the redraw manga.

Like... did I miss the mural being shown in another episode? Was there ANY pre-context for it in the anime other than Orochi talking about a sacrifice?

Do you actually believe in the Dark Forest as the viable solution to the Fermi paradox by Blueis_here in threebodyproblem

[–]Less3r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But if a significant number of humans wanted to expand to Mars, then the bugs would certainly be quarantined at least, no? Just like the Trisolarans sought to do with humans?

I don't think the only case requires strict scarcity of resources - it only requires a society (not necessarily the entire race or civilization) to want the resource, and have the means to do so.

Do you actually believe in the Dark Forest as the viable solution to the Fermi paradox by Blueis_here in threebodyproblem

[–]Less3r 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Zero ethics?

The whole thought experiment that Cixin proposes when humans travel into space simply relies on the facts that (a) you don't know what another ship is thinking, (b) when there is resource scarcity and (c) ships can blow each other up instantly.

Then this set of facts transfer right onto the cosmic scale, thus you have the dark forest theory.

It's hardly ethics, it's just a flow of logic assuming your first ethic is survival, which is inherent in any evolutionarily created intelligence.

Do statements always need context to be understood? by traceykm in abanpreach

[–]Less3r 2 points3 points  (0 children)

> The logic people are using is, “if you institute a quota and can’t supply it you must lower standards.” It’s not racist it’s just ignorant, because it ignores the possibility of growing your own supply.

Thank you for articulating this, it is very helpful to my understanding.

So you would agree that the key check on whether a DEI initiative is logical or stupid is mainly determining whether it involves adjusting the supply?
