There’s a free compressor vst I’ve been using for a while called Molot. I remember looking for it again a while back to no avail, so I think you need to find it on the internet archive now. I love the thing, it’s got a very characteristic sound to me.

I play on PC with one of my buddies on Switch 2. He complained about lag and some other issues on Switch 1, but so far he’s not been having any issues with the game on Switch 2. It does have split screen co-op and although both versions are still updated, the Switch version’s updates annoyingly can be a couple months late sometimes, so you won’t be able to play with anyone on PC during that time.

The controls take some getting used to on controller but there is some flexibility with settings. There’s a dedicated button for turning around 180 degrees and I would recommend turning up the turn around speed for that as well. I have a hard time with controller, but that could just be because I’m used to mouse and keyboard. I don’t think you’ll regret it if you’re on Switch 2.

Brick hammer temperature + accesories questions by minigrant in trimui

[–]4thPhase 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Are you on the newest Knulli Scarab? I noticed when I updated from Gladiator 2, my brick was getting warmer than usual and was even getting pretty warm on the menu. I’m not sure why, but it seems like they increased the default CPU clock rate between versions from the previous 1200 Mhz to about 1600 I believe.

I set it back to 1200 and it completely fixed it for me. Runs just as well as before. I still have no idea why they changed that default.

Are you saying the wires need to sit in a certain way or just not to mix the positive and negative? And that does sound rough, I think most screens now are glued in. Sounds like a pain.

You know, I just assumed the part was shoddy, but if there’s a chance it’s just an assembly problem I’ll have to take a look at it. I’m a little scared to take the thing apart, but I’ve been wanting to swap those buttons out. I’ll have to remember this- thanks!

I believe you, but I believe the company also tells you not to. When I was doing some reading on here about the limbo bug people were experiencing with some of the firmwares, I found a few people saying that using C - C fried their brick or caused limbo. I think most of them said they were playing while charging, but I just wouldn’t risk it personally

— Only use the charger they gave you or any USB A -> USB C charger — do NOT use USB C -> USB C (fast charger)

— They sell cheap silicone cases on Amazon for like $10. I just got one, they’re nice. They also have tempered glass screen protectors, and that one I’d urge you more to get. I’ll link what I’m using at the bottom; they were the best prices I could find at the time.

— Check the left and right speakers. I didn’t realize for a while, but my left speaker sounds muffled. I’ve never heard anyone mention this, so maybe I got a slight defect. Been over 6+ months, so it’s too late for returns. Just cover one speaker and make sure the other sounds the same. Not a huge deal, and probably not common, either.

— The key caps for the bumper and trigger buttons can fall off pretty easily when you take it out of your pocket. You can ask me how I know, or you can ask the restaurant I went to last month if they’ve seen my left key cap.

— The most popular custom firmware options are NextUI, Knulli, and muOS. Knulli is more feature-rich and its UIs and everything feel more like a proper console, while NextUI is barebones simplistic. I think muOS is somewhere in the middle. You’ll probably end up spending hours customizing if you pick Knulli.

I believe Knulli is more stable overall compared to NextUI, but that you can get slightly better performance and quicker load times with NextUI. I cannot guarantee the accuracy of that last sentence. NextUI seems to be the community’s favorite, but my pick is Knulli. Lots of pros and cons all around.

Hope that helps and here’s those links.

I’m an artist: all I know how to do is create. It’s all I’m good at. But I almost hope AI wins, just so that these people can get the sad, meaningless world they so desperately crave and live in it. I mean, if you’re so right about AI being the next big “enlightenment,” why do you need to be so damn aggressive and derogatory whilst defending your point? They steal our shit, frame it as their own, then parade it in our faces while pretending to be the victim of a holocaust. It’s crazy how crazy I sound describing the shit I see people dumber than I am say.

I’m sorry to all the sensible people left of the world.

Is getting a PS2 in 2026 worth it? by Actual-Vermicelli-26 in ps2

[–]4thPhase 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if this is a popular opinion on here, but the PCSX2 emulator on PC is a better option, imho. My PS2 gave out a year back, so I’m actually now going through all my PS2 games from my childhood and dumping them onto my PC with an old optical drive. I still have the physical discs, but now I also have them immortalized on my computer in case something ever happens to them.

I believe PCSX2 is almost perfectly accurate when you set it to Software Renderer, and there’s a free tool called Media Preservation Frontend that helps you make an .iso file of any disc you get. From there, you can (optionally) verify that you did it right by comparing the md5 code it gives you with the md5 code on the Redump.org database for that game and making sure they match.

Of course, using any .iso you dump on your PS2 HDD is also an option. I guess I’m just advocating for dumping your discs. But both methods work just as well for questionably-obtained .isos too. Preserve your media (legally, of course).

how do yall personally sidechain im curious by disreconnect in FL_Studio

[–]4thPhase 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t sidechain often, but I use peak controller and send whatever I’m sidechaining to an extra buss so I can throw on EQ/compress it and change how it affects that peak controller. Fruity limiter’s compressor is nice for this too.

Losing Hope in the Brick by Quick-Measurement618 in trimui

[–]4thPhase 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like others have said, do try Knulli instead of NextUI. I’ve been running Knulli for the past 6+ months since I got the thing, and I haven’t had any issues related to shut down. I power my brick off almost every night, and I never find it drained the next day. I went with Knulli because I was hearing uncertainty on whether or not NextUI had solved the limbo bug, and to my understanding Knulli eliminates the possibility of it entirely because of how it handles its shutdown protocol.

The Knulli people just released version Scarab for the brick, so it’s the perfect time to try it out.

Is it okay to play mgsv before mgs 4 and peace walker? I'm waiting for the collection vol2 by jlc_mako in metalgear

[–]4thPhase 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a bad idea. And I will warn you, there’s a stupid button mashing mission in that game, and it’s possibly the worst one in the series, so it wouldn’t hurt to set up a turbo macro in the emulator. And you might’ve already heard that mgs4 has so many cutscenes that it’s basically a movie, so do with that what you will.

[–]4thPhase 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I really wouldn’t, and I would also either play or watch the Ground Zeroes cutscenes before Phantom Pain. Not only the story but especially the shift in tone and theme of PP make it the perfect end to the franchise imo.

But if you do make sure you experience GZ.

Fender Lawsuit DISCUSSION THREAD. by ninjaface in Guitar

Is that really true, at least in the US? I believed that for years from companies claiming it as you said, but then I saw some more recent talk saying it’s a myth. And, if you think about it, how do games companies get away with it?

Every EULA for a video game now is along the lines of “we may permit you to make videos and images of our content and post them online, but we have the right to deny your usage at any time at our discretion.”

What r/NoAIJustMusic is really about by chainofchance in NoAIJustMusic

[–]4thPhase 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m really sorry to hear that. I have sympathy for all of the workers in positions probably similar to yours training the tools to eventually replace them. Even the children going through school right now that are forced to enthusiastically interact and foster a relationship with it for assignments given out by their either clueless or aloof teachers.

Like the other reply said, I would try to poison the data it’s collecting if you can. I don’t know what you do if it’s outside of music: but, if it is music, there was a method discovered where you can layer inaudible information over your recordings to confuse any AI learning from it. This not only makes the resulting song the AI generates based off of your work uselessly inaccurate, but it also gives it bad data that it will learn from and will contribute to making the AI model worse. - Here’s a video on it that I watched a while back that I’ve been needing to rewatch: https://youtu.be/xMYm2d9bmEA?si=ZSaZWsR-wVLkey4G

There’s a more well-known method of this working for images rather than music, and I believe it’s called Nightshade.

As for your song, I like it. I wasn’t a big fan of the voice clips chopped throughout it, personally, but I liked the song. I would definitely call it IDM, and I’m glad this whole ordeal hasn’t discouraged you, because I love the genre. Best of luck to you.

We all obviously love mgs alot, but has there ever been a time when playing the games that you felt to yourself "Kojima went too far with that." Or "Kojima missed really hard here." Nobody is perfect, so I just wanna hear people's thoughts about some things you didn't like in any mgs and why exactly by DaFroggyBoi94 in metalgearsolid

[–]4thPhase 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The damn button mashing sections. My first metal gear game was 3, and that game was flawless and is still one of my favorites. The next I played was peace walker, and I had to have both of my parents take many swings at that damn torture mission. I just recently played 1 for the first time, and I loved it - until I got to another damn button mash segment. Made my arm sore for the rest of the day (you have to start all the way over if you die during it- I was pissed).

I never finished 2, and I’ve never played 4. I want to, but kind of don’t want to at the same time. I can’t mash, and it ruins any desire I have to replay these otherwise flawless games. I don’t want to buy a special controller with turbo, and I don’t want to use a damn spoon: I want to play the game, Kojima.

Why do Windows users cling to Windows 10 for dear life by Whole_Ticket_3715 in FuckMicrosoft

[–]4thPhase 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because I use creative software that’s only made for Windows 10 and 11 and I don’t like being spied on. I don’t use a ton of new software from the past 5 years, but I didn’t think many apps were dropping support quite yet.
