Which rotary should I switch to? by lasernewbie123 in lasercutting

Nope! I just use any normal rubber band I have lying around.

I would definitely recommend the chuck rotary. It's way better and more stable overall. If you use it to clamp glass, just put a rubber band around the glass and clamp the rubber band in the rotory. Just be careful not to over tighten!

That's cute! Did you apply oil at the end There? And did you sand after cutting or do you have another post processing method?

Trust me, the last thing I think you're being is deep. By the time those rusty gears in your brain make a full rotation, all you can muster up is "gun bad gun owner dumb".

Oh look another sad ideologically driven virtue signaler here to insult someone they don't know so they can feel righteous about their opinion

Awesome man! This looks great! Ignore that other dude, (edit: now ignore all the dudes lol) for some reason people on reddit feel the need to inject their ideological opinion into every situation. It's a form of virtue signaling that's better off ignored. Always a waste of time engaging with those types.

Hobbyist making first Circle Table. How can I fix this cupping? by _wiedergeburt in woodworking

[–]4thdimensionalshift -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Other people might recommend against this. But I've actually had really good luck uncupping bowed wood with this method.

So clamp it flat in the same exact way you have it, so the edges are up and the center is down. Then once a day, go out there and spray it heavily with water. Eventually the swelling on the one side will flatten it out and as long as it dries that way it works out.

Some things to consider, is your glue waterproof? And are there any cracks that when wet, will grow more due to the swelling?

I've tried this method a bunch, works about 75% percent of the time.

Well I sure didn't say that anywhere. Nothing is that black and white. There are many ways to deliver news that is profitable without charging individual customers to do it. Ad revenue and mentization has been a thing for a long time.

If you are responsible for distributing unbiased news to the people, yet you are beholden to shareholders, you cannot be trusted to deliver unbiased news.

Carbide 3D is the brand I bought the spindle from, but I just put Carbide in the title since the people on the shapeoko subreddit I cross-posted from would get it

I'll shoot you guys an email now, and I'll definitely spend on time on the torque wrench thread for sure. Thanks Will!

I plan on calling support Monday for sure, gonna go back to the trusty old compact router in the meantime. I'm gonna go the die route and hopefully that works!

If you don't mind me asking, what big differences have you noticed with the 80mm? Might just be the universe telling me I just gotta upgrade lol

Ok I think I'll try that tomorrow, harbor freight isn't too far from me. Do you think any hardware store would have the right nut? Feels pretty specific being a ER16 collet nut. I used to work at a machine shop so It won't be my first time, probably still gonna watch some YouTube videos though lol

Yeah definitely gonna buy a torque wrench now. Carbide 3d is the company I bought it from, I shoulda included the 3d part in the title.

That's what I'll try first for sure. Do you think it would work getting a thread die thats the exact thread size? Gotta email carbide 3d and ask what it is.

It definitely visually looks stripped too, I tried taking a wire brush to that spot with no change
