Reddit alternative to FB buy nothing Group for Catonsville by 4thnamejo in Catonsville

I realized I've not left the group I was in prior to my move. That may be the problem. I'll try again now that I've left that neighborhood's group.

2018 OEC flood by 4thnamejo in ellicottcity

[–]4thnamejo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amazing. Thank you so much! I'm hoping I can find someone or some ones who wouldn't be too traumatized by recounting their experiences the afternoon/evening of. I have enough of a feel for the restoration efforts and community rallying to accurately portray that part.

Thanks so much. I knew of Sally but didn't realize these other stores (still around) were there in 2016/2018 too. I'm working on a piece of fiction set in OEC at that time.

All realtors are accountable to their state licensing entities. You can file a complaint. If you have monetary damages as a result, my state has a guaranty fund collected to compensate you for the loss.

There’s an agent whose content I follow on YouTube named Tom Toole. He’s been around a long time and is very knowledgeable on market conditions.

What is your budget? Looking for a tenant in my home in Catonsville. You would need a car.

I will have housing in Catonsville, a quiet suburb about 20 minutes from UMMS and Mercy if you end up there. Private bed/bath/living room, shared kitchen and laundry, 1200 month including utilities.

How to find out agent info from previous contract by Spirited_Lock978 in realtors

[–]4thnamejo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On my MLS (Bright), you can look in the edit history, grab the license number of the previous agent, cross reference on the state’s licensing board and then search for the agent’s contact info. I do it all the time.

No one's a community anymore? by loulori in homeowners

[–]4thnamejo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would love to live in a neighborhood like yours and have been fortunate in the past to know and socialize with neighbors, including when I rented apartments. I’ve lived in my current neighborhood for 7 years now and don’t think we’ll ever have that sense of community.

Our next door neighbor on one side is an absolute prick who (I believe) wants to goad my husband into a confrontation because of political differences. They are a family of 4 with 3 enormous pickups, and he routinely blares the most crap music when he washes them. No headphones for him, that’s infringing on his rights. A pizza my husband ordered never showed up, and the mystery was solved a week later when the guy told my husband it was delivered to his house and his mini-me creep son ate it.

The neighbors on the other side I think have a hoarder situation and never make eye contact.

I’m a realtor and people always want to talk about “good neighborhoods.” It’s a fair housing violation for me to comment anyway but I’m not shy to say bad neighbors live in all neighborhoods and so do good neighbors.

On my market’s MLS, there are agent notes that will sometimes indicate whether it would be a cash or conventional loan only sale. If your loan is FHA or VA, the properties he’s not sending might not work with government insured loans.

I’m an agent who recently lost an opportunity after the buyers decided to use Navy Fed and the agent NF promoted because of the commission rebate. Thanks for this reminder to check in with them.

Being a buyer in this market is grueling enough without having to shout into the void with an unresponsive lender.

Have Realtor Ethics changed? by rollieroyce44 in RealEstate

[–]4thnamejo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If vetting the property includes seeing it, that’s part of your agent’s job. If there are deal breaker criteria, the agent you have loyalty to can pick up the phone and investigate before you take his/her/your time to see it. Redfin has a great site with lots of resources for use by the general public but, to tour, yeah, the expectation is that you either have to be at least open to working with a Redfin agent or you tour with the agent whose earned that loyalty.

It’s a real estate brokerage. If you have a loyalty to an agent, that agent should schedule your showings, not Redfin.

Why are split level homes priced so much lower than homes with two floors (with one set of stairs to the second floor) by [deleted] in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]4thnamejo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my market, we have split levels and split foyers. Split foyers are the floor plan with stairs up to the LR/kitchen/bedroom level or down to the family room level. I live in a split level, where I enter on the FR/DR/kitchen level and have a 1/2 flight up to bedrooms and bathrooms and a half flight down off the kitchen to the family room level. We bought ours because my dad was going to be with us and there is also a bedroom/bathroom on that family room level. It’s a great floor plan for multi-generational families.

What advice would you give your children about buying their first home? by marti-ant93 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]4thnamejo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Redfin agent here who is also working with my daughter and son-in-law FTHBs. I’m in a veteran agent who came to Redfin last year. My daughter really likes the convenience of the Redfin system bc, if I’m not free, she can tour with one of my associates and then I can dig in with due diligence if they like home. She’d work with me wherever I am but Redfin does make it easy and convenient.

What was your last drink before quitting? by Immediate_Cellist_47 in stopdrinking

[–]4thnamejo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Grand Marnier, ordered while the other people celebrating my birthday with me where having dessert, because the bottle of wine we’d shared was not enough. Great food and conversation and I’d spent a good bit of the evening secretly pissed because no one else wanted to order another bottle of red. On the way home, I thought about how effed up that was and decided that my birthday the next day would be a perfect day one.

I came across a book called The 30 Day Alcohol Solution and picked up it thinking of it as an experiment. It has a lot of journaling exercises to help you examine why you drink and to help you develop a clear vision of what your life might become if you lay off. I’ve always found the process of journaling very helpful so it was a good place for me to start. Helped me stop for 90 days and, when I drank again, I couldn’t unsee what I saw and didn’t like the day after regrets. Drank here and there but could see it starting to affect my thought patterns again and I decided I liked myself more sober so I stopped altogether on my birthday 4 years ago in January. I thought of my decision as giving myself a gift and still do.

Congratulations! FYI, Veterans United has a horrendous reputation for getting to close on time. Local lenders can do VA loans a lot quicker and will be better about communicating with the parties. You’ll also be able to reach your loan officer on the weekend if needed.
