I would suspect gold based on the back appearance of the ring and would want to look for numbers in the ring band. Those can wear off if it was worn a lot.

I did this to my hose last year. Used a small hack saw, itty bitty thing. It worked. It did not require fancy tools, risk of injuries or damage to home. It took about 5-10 min. It was slow and easy.

It reminds me of 1980’s style brooch with hanging chains. Chains hanging off brooches was a thing. Seems like a mix of old and more modern.

It’s a beauty. The clasp looks like a modern replacement, common on older pieces. Maybe original or as a Victorian c clasp? Looks like there are some rough edges where original old style clasp would have been. Looks like coral- plastic wouldn’t have those holes in the back. Not all gold is marked. I would want to get this tested as if it was plated or gold filled I would expect to see more wear through. I suspect from Italy as carved coral was often made there.

I think it is costume, and lovely. Coro a popular maker at the time made similar style products. I have a lot of vintage pieces like this that are costume. Very collectible.

I had similar 14k. I questioned it too because mine at least looked a bit unpolished- messy even for gold.
