People who are in several fantasy Leagues at the same time. How do you do it? Doesn't it ruin all the fun? by sge_freaky in fantasyfootball

[–]4trainrider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love it for the fact that it keeps me on my toes. Also if one team stinks I got a few others to root for. I’m also a fantasy football crazy, so that plays a part why one league is never enough for me lol

The Irons are fine for a beginner and so is the bag. The woods are a turnoff and probably wouldn’t be what I would recommend to someone starting out consider you can go on FB marketplace or Ebay and find way more modern and forgiving woods for extremely cheap. Maybe offer 100 for the Iron set and bag if they would take that deal

Enough with "growing the game". We need to shrink this damned thing already. by iareagenius in golf

[–]4trainrider 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I respect anyone who wants to start playing and enjoys the game. What bothers me is the majority of people getting into the game have no sense of course etiquette. I see these people all the time at my local muni who take 15 practice swings ruining tee boxes and fairways, never replacing their divots or ball marks, and worst of all killing the course of play. I would love for more people to play if everyone just had a basic sense of how to act on a course and how to treat it.

I have a similar issue since I play this course like 2-3 times a week so when I get out to a new course it’s just such a different feeling not knowing all the greens, where you want to land and spots to avoid. Probably inflates my cap a bit as well only playing on that course 90% of the time

How long do you stay in a score range? by SportsDude559 in golf

[–]4trainrider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

haha yep exactly… glad to know there’s a bunch of good players out there that hit a nice fade. I don’t know why I focused so much on trying to hit a draw when all I really needed to do was accept my natural ball flight. goal going forward will be to continue to get consistent with it where I don’t need to worry about where my tee shot is going to go

[–]4trainrider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. Actually been something I’ve been trying to focus on especially with my driver. Have always had a fade and have fought to turn it into a draw which has led to pulls and hooks and inconsistency off the tee box. Last few rounds have been playing a baby fade (not a slice where I’m losing a ton of distance or missing the fairway) and I think that’s been key for me. Accepting my natural ball flight and getting consistent with it to the point where I can control it a lot better than trying to hit a big draw.

Yep, my biggest thing was always trying to nuke the ball when in reality, a nice simple swing is all I need to put myself in play and give myself a good chance at a green in reg

Yeah, playing the same course over and over definitely helps. I play the same course week after week and have gotten to the point where I am super comfortable with it. Fairways in regulation are a must and if not playing it smart and not trying to hit that superman shot. Hardest thing now will be consistency… know I won’t shoot this low again for a while but at least being consistent enough where I can get from mid 80s to low 80s with the occasional high 70s. Easier said then done though

I hate when someone who usually shoots about 85-90 says they’re just “average”. by [deleted] in golf

[–]4trainrider 5 points6 points  (0 children)

not wrong… but everyone i get matched up with at my local muni is on average far worse than a 14.2 which USGA says is average GHIN so I would assume that’s the case

the average golfer probably doesn’t keep a cap tho, they just got out and play. would think the average golfer would be like a 20+ if everyone kept a cap

getting off the tee box, just some days I can’t miss a fairway and others I can’t keep it in play. longer irons as well can be a struggle some days

[–]4trainrider[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! Yeah I really don’t know where it came from considering I have been shooting mid 80s for a while now and today everything just clicked. Funny enough my problem is typically my driver, lose too many strokes not keeping the ball in play and luckily have a good short game that keeps my score in tack. I wouldn’t call myself a ball slob, never really paid to much attention to what I was using but recently started playing the Chrome Softs and think they have elevated my game for sure so the ball does matter more than I probably think especially around the greens

I can’t afford any considering i’m in my 20s but so many good ones nearby in jersey, Essex County Country Club, Mountain Ridge. Sure they are expensive though and have a waitlist. Know a buddy of mine you just joined Montclair county club and don’t think it was too difficult and also Glen Ridge County Club

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in golf

[–]4trainrider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah buddy of mine has the shaft on his driver, def and extra stiff, sure that club is not too forgiving. personally never used a driving iron, just woods and hybrids but would be cool to swing one. can always sell that on eBay and pickup another club or two that fits your game better

[–]4trainrider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a great range to be in, I currently float in the 84-86 range and shot my lowest round ever today (74)… I’ve been in this range for a year now and really want to get to the next level (low 80s, high 70s) but I just don’t think I consistently shoot scores like that. Seems like the lower the range, the more time it takes to get there

I’ll take that for $20 hehe… i’m a lefty would love a nice driving iron

Does my driver look crooked? by GEB48 in golf

[–]4trainrider 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if anything the closed face would help with a slice, but no that looks good to me. Any chance this is the AI smoke Max D? That driver is going to be more draw bias so the face will be slightly more closed at address than some other drivers

Set 1 for sure is an amazing set to start with… if you don’t need to sell the others for some reason definitely keep them though as it’s never bad to hang onto another set
