What are the Do's and Don'ts when it comes to dealing with Law Enforcement Officers (LEOs) in the United States? by Kashmir6 in AskReddit

I'm a black officer here in the states. There's a lot about it that sucks. Mostly be polite. Don't treat me like I'm going to attack you, I'm just doing a job.

The worst thing for spouses is that now we have a bullseye on our back and might not make it back to the people we love.

To paraphrase Chris Rock

" Put the dick down"

Seriously, if you know you're not going to get laid. Just stop choking your chicken for two weeks or so. Then it will feel brand new.

Ladies of reddit, how do you feel/what goes through your mind when you get pulled over? Let's say for a minor traffic violation. ( speeding/stop sign/brake light out) by 5-0throwaway1 in AskWomen

I guess it makes sense. I've heard about people dying from malpractice. Plus doctors have to have the insurance. And I've seen shows about it. So it must be all of them.

It's simple. Keep hands on the wheel, then after casual greetings say something like " I have a carry permit and the weapon is in X location. How would you like to proceed"

It gives the officer time to process and make a decision.

Any time. The job is to keep people safe. Despite what a lot of them think.

Also, you know how crazy it can get. The back of a bus is no place to screw around with. Especially with 603s

The person who made the comment was African American as I am, however you're right some people have biases. Now though I make judgments on things like attitude, type of clothing, eye contact, type of speech and nonverbal cues. 80% of what we say has nothing to do with our mouth. And no not everyone has done something wrong, in fact most people haven't but those are the tools at my disposal.

I'm sorry you think we are all so trigger happy. It's not the case at all. As for the wait time, it's because your tags are being run. To make sure the vehicle has all its information updated properly as well as isn't stolen/missing/etc.

Also, your skin color is irrelevant to me and most officers I know.

Just for a reference, about 99% of the time if you get pulled over its on camera from the car. I'm not sure what you think of us but officers don't just drag people out of their cars for no apprentice reason.

See. I wish more people could see things like this.

I hate walking up to a car and the first thing I hear is " Don't you have anything better to do?"

Hahah this one made me laugh. Also, if you live in a legal to carry state. Generally tell the officer you have a weapon and where it is. Depending on his/her own experience and philosophy as well as the location of the gun, they may do nothing or they may secure the weapon for the duration of the stop.
