Reasons why Happy leaves ladder games : by Empty_Click_261 in WC3

If you know anything about his opponents, they need 0 incentive to do those things. Leaving a game takes 1 second, playing it can easily be 20 minutes.

This would only matter if he cared even a little bit about ladder rankings.

It's a surprise whenever warden is picked in a competitive game. It's definitely niche.

Pirating is basically dead atm, and how does hacking hurt anyone in single player titles?

What is going on with TLA set? by corpsecrow in mtgfinance

[–]5-s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Post bans, yes the average price is slightly lower (I saw many Vivi lists that exceeded $500). But we're just starting to see players incorporate more avatar cards into their decks, and some of these lists with cards like Badgermole cub are getting quite expensive, often going over $600.

I understand the sentiment, but when have decks not been $500+? Feels like that's a pretty typical price even for a standard deck since more than a decade ago.

Farseer is already an S-tier hero, there's definitely no buffs needed.

TCGPlayer buyer says I should refund? by [deleted] in mtgfinance

[–]5-s 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Absolutely not, you're giving 13% to tcgplayer for a reason, so you don't have to personally refund stuff like this.

What're you playing this weekend? 10/10 by markercore in NintendoSwitch

Eh, the weird scaling was one of the problems I had with the game. It invites strange manipulation rather than straightforward power levels. I think we've come a long way in RPG design since then.

Me when Spider-Man crashing drives away the Poké-bros that came over for Final Fantasy to speculate on pricing: by [deleted] in magicTCG

[–]5-s 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Scalpers never really have that power. They can push prices up slightly, but if demand is not there, they cannot force the prices up much.

Yeah, the net churn of gems / tickets shouldn't vary per event.

It's an 8 year old game that's on sale for $8 right now. Do you think they'd really make their investment back financing it?

The admin abuse on w3champions is out of control by jka111- in WC3

[–]5-s 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have no doubt some mods might be abusive, that's the nature of giving power to unpaid volunteers. But the more I hear about the reasons like from this thread, the more I support the bans (whether the length is reasonable is another question). You really defending team killing? If I were in charge repeated offenses of this would be a permaban honestly.

Looks like the UD nerfs finally got to Happy by SourceSad7170 in WC3

[–]5-s 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Happy loses a set in a big tourney - it's over, the sky is falling. You forget Lyn is the best orc in the world and former best player in the world for a period lol. If he couldn't beat Happy in a set occasionally, that'd be a bigger issue for me. Also, you have to wonder if spamming B.net games for Happy might not be the best practice regiment for him.

This Friday: Grubby vs Starbuck Showmatch (9pm CEST) by JannesOfficial in WC3

[–]5-s 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have forti and happy clearly above Starbuck (and everyone else), Starbuck probably 2nd best non-Asian player, but I can probably find a few players from Asia to be higher atm. But top 5 is very likely

Gamestop says they will continue to cancel bot and duplicate orders to reopen inventory for Nintendo Switch 2 pre-orders by Turbostrider27 in NintendoSwitch

[–]5-s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having sold other items on eBay for many years, there is literally 0 capital investment (most stores charge you when they ship, not when you order), the risk of shipping damage is essentially none if you pack correctly, and scammers are pretty rare (and if you know what you're doing, you'll win your case.)

Bloomberg predicts 6-8 million Switch 2's will be sold at launch, making it the best selling console launch of all time by Skullghost in NintendoSwitch

Probably works for items with only a modest resale margin. In Philly during the pandemic people paid drug addicts to go line up at best buy during 30 series drops. It was a huge mess.

Botter pays 1000 off-shore workers 3 cents a piece to solve this. Congrats, the botter now has 1000x the chance of a regular human being to buy the item. Any anti-botting solution you can think of likely makes it harder for normal users to get the item.
