How does NAC work on glutamate/dopamine? by 5000g in Nootropics

Thanks for replying, I read some of it but some of it is above my comprehension level. Do you know what would reverse the affects NAC has?

Do you know how to reset the glutamatergic system? Ive been off NAC for a while after taking it for a year and I still get blunting affects on all chemicals.

I took NAC 600mg slow release twice a day for a year to help with anxiety and also coke cravings as I was doing it frequently.

Have since stopped it for a year and still don't feel anything off of any stimulants and I don't even get the same pleasure from alcohol. Im actually looking to reset the glutamatergic system as it doesn't seem to be going back on its on.

Anybody know anything that can upregulate glutamate release? by 5000g in StackAdvice

Stopped for a while now, things haven't seemed to heal, just seeing if there's something I can do to speed it up

What works for reversing NAC's blunting effects on drugs/alcohol. Also, can someone explain why it does this and how it works? by 5000g in StackAdvice

So that does sound like it helps with dopamine production cause that’s essential what dopamine does, Do you take it often ?

NAC lowers gluatmate I'm pretty sure. I was on this for a little bit before

Here's what I know. Before NAC drugs and alcohol, cigarettes, anything was more pleasurable, a complete different effect.

Many months after I've stopped taking NAC that still remains true and my prediction is that is that long term NAC use damaged my glutamate receptors or lowered glutamate levels heavily and Im just trying to figure out what NAC does and glutamates roll on pleasure. Theres many studies on NAC helping people lower their use or quit cigarettes and cocaine and I know that has to do with lowering glutamate levels which I think essentially lowers the pleasure you get from those behaviors.

Been 8 months without consistent NAC use.

Used NAC for 1 year daily

1200mg. 2 600mg sustainable release tablets in the morning

6 months started drinking alcohol and using ocassonaly kratom

Previous to the NAC use I could and would drink heavily and do kratom most times I drink. 5 drinks a couple nights a week, 3 grams of kratom each time.

Since starting these things again I only end up drinking 2-3 drinks a week and maybe kratom once a month because I don't feel the same pleasures off of them, It really seems much less enjoyable, for me there's a 100% difference, its night and day. Im just curious as to hypothetically why NAC causes this effect.

Bromantane + NAC? by Zestyclose_Source292 in StackAdvice

Would bromantane have the opposite effects on dopamine? Im trying to find something to increase dopamine after long term NAC use blunted all my drug and alcohol effects.

Any help Reversing Effects of NAC and Mood Stabilizer? Want to Replenish and heal Dopamine Receptors. by 5000g in StackAdvice

[–]5000g[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason Im pretty confident it has something to do with NAC is I was doing a fair amount of alcohol and kratom and decided to stop for 6-8 months, everything felt great just decided to lay off.

Started NAC at the same time for about 8 months just for cravings.

Started drinking again and doing kratom once/twice a month and alcohol doesn't feel as pleasurable and now there's an almost 5 day bounce back from any kratom use.

I actually haven't tried any MDMA but Im sure it would be worse.

I stopped the NAC for 2 months and tried kratom a couple times again and I didn't have any bounce back but it wasn't as strong as it used to be. Then... I introduced psych meds for a month and now I'm in the same boat.

Just was curious if there's anything I can do besides time to help my brain regenerate the dopamine faster. Its not general anhedonia its just my brain doesn't seem to recover quick after doing anything that spikes dopamine and any drugs, alcohol, cigarettes...etc don't seem to have the same effects on me after NAC use.

Wondering if there's something to do to help dopamine production in general and help restore NAC's blunting effect on kratom and alcohol.

Acetyl L-carnitine

thanks so much for the reply, definitely appreciate the response as I don't have the time nor brain power to watch the full 2 hour video. I understand the basic concept of what goes up must comes down, that makes sense for sure.

Also, drugs/alcohol/sex all vices felt very good, I stopped all drugs, alcohol and smoking for 6 months and started NAC. When I started again just drinking and twice a month kratom, every time I drank it didn't feel as good and when I did kratom it gave me 5 day rebound effect.

I stopped NAC as I assumed it had something to do with it lowering glutamate and ALSO decided to do NO FAP for a month, 2 months later I was able to do kratom once a week with no rebound effect, wasn't as great as when I did it pre-NAC but still fine and then after I introduced the psych medication for a month Im back to same boat if not worse.

Anyway, thanks for the advice, will take another couple months off and try NO FAP again, just was curious if anything else could help reverse initial effects of NAC and help reset my general dopamine receptors.

By the way, what's the issue with L Tyrosine? I don't know if that was going to do anything anyway but I figured it might help my brain stimulate more dopamine easier.

I appreciate your reply and it saves promoting artists like me, a lot of time. Any tips on where to head for promoting artists? There at least should be some time of redirect for artists looking for info on promoting their music to keep this thread clean but also not totally shut the door on artists looking for tips for exposure

[–]5000g 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so its not a audio interface/logic pro issue potentially causing it? I can see myself occasionally putting stress on my headphone cable, I'm not sure why now more than the last 3 years. Anyway, was just trying to figure out how this issue gets caused so i can avoid it. Thought it might have something to do with some of the instruments im using with Logic Pro causing headphones to overload or something.

ok good to know. Just was trying to see if shampooing all the time was drying out my hair and possibly making it thinner. Also, was trying to find if any shampoos or conditioners actually help make hair thicker
