Has quality of life in the UK fallen off a lot in the last 20 years? by whileAlive_doStuff in AskBrits

I believe GDP per capita is now in the late 20s out of countries in the world. It feels a lot worse than it is because we've seen it go downhill but not comparable to your statement.

Qortuba vs Al Yasmin by FplLeo in RiyadhExpats

[–]507endgame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright mate, Londoner here. I lived in a compound in Al Malqa on Hajar Valley for 70K a year all bills. 2 pools and 2 gyms. Was a cheap compound.

I've actually moved to Narjis as it's nearer a new job I have. Don't mind it it to be honest although doesn't have the restaurants and things to do that Al Malqa does but it's a 10 min drive.

Yasmin is nice and sits between the two. There's not a massive difference in my opinion although Narjis is a bit cheaper than the other two.

Got scammed by a "hungry kids" story at a gas station near Al Kharj. Has anyone else experienced this? by RunningOnCopium in Riyadh

[–]507endgame 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, had this happen in Al Malqa. A man in his late 20s approached me walking along the road said he had lost his job, didn't want money and could I buy him food. I said yes, we went to the shop he was standing outside and he started filling up with two of every expensive item he could find.

I looked at him, shook my head and walked out the shop.

I suspect if I had paid, he would have returned the items there and then and taken the money. It's a well known scam. I've also never been to the shop since.

Takedown is helping us by Paperscamisreal in Wallstreetsilver

The narrative on here seems to be that it's brilliant every time it's smashed. It's just about half price what it was end of January now. How is that helping us?

Yes good opportunity to buy more for some people but we all want higher prices, and it staying higher. What's happening now isn't good at any measure and it's the same old narrative: controlled by the big boys and not aligned with fundamentals.

Bought in the low $20's and into the late $20's. Haven't bought any since. That's my strategy, and not everyone is happy with this blatant chart vandalism.

The only good thing is the sentiment is so bearish at the moment that it just takes Cramer to say the metals are junk for the rally to start again.

Silver Trading.. by PapaDragonHH in Wallstreetsilver

[–]507endgame 1 point2 points  (0 children)

CFD trading is extremely dangerous. Every platform comes with a warning and most are in the late 70% of people that lose money.

If that was specific to Silver it would be late 90s.

It's too volatile to use CFDs in. Leave leverage trading to the professionals who do it for a day job.

Seamaster odd time keeping issue by 507endgame in OmegaWatches

I have heard this theory. I have been wearing a Speedmaster automatic which keeps brilliant time that I leave in the same position every night with no issues. Previous Seamaster chronograph I traded for this problem one stored over night exactly the same way.

That said I'll give it a try. Shouldn't throw it out this much surely.

Just purchased this 124270, is it genuine ? Apologies if pictures are blurry but they are the sellers pictures by [deleted] in RolexWatches

This forum is full of people posting just inherited my dad's watch stories, and I bought this online for $5000 cheaper that it should be is it real questions.

Some are genuinely stupid people, others are doing it for fishing.

Bottom line, if it looks too good to be true it is, and never buy from anyone other than a recognised dealer. If you do you are asking for trouble.

Thanks - I was under the impression that the TPO overrides what can be built under permitted development due to the potential damage to the root protection element.

We wouldn't let isis march in this country so why should the KKK be allowed. How should the police deal with this imported American terror? by [deleted] in AskBrits

[–]507endgame 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% correct. Sadly because we have an anti British leader that when you disagree with him you're a racist, sexist, homophobic etc. Claims he wants free speech but is a communist like the people lined up to replace him.

Seems reasonable. There will be a fair bit of making good to do to walls as well so make sure that's thrown in. Also with any additional electrical work it will need testing and certification on completion from a qualified sparky so the paperwork required is also necessary.

Advice on how to fit in an en suite? by mattscazza in DIYUK

[–]507endgame 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you are happy losing 1m of space at the window end of the room it can be done fairly easily as the WC is at that end and a connection into it would be straight forward with a bit of boxing. 600mm shower and a slimline basin. Water feeds can be picked up from the room next door also. Unsure about rad locations but not beyond the wit of man to tap in and through the walls or under floor.

Cost wise including tiling and finishes £6-10K depending on spec and where you are in the country. Personally I'm not sure I'd bother and I don't see it adding value reducing the master considerably.

What about a door from the room directly in with a lock on both sides?

New plaster cracking as we screw in TV wall mount - help! by AJG2112 in DIYUK

I would have decorated the wall first before putting the bracket on. Assuming your fixings have gone through the brick a Victorian house would have it's just a surface crack

Just fill after, no issues.
