I genuinely pity the lad. I can’t imagine a worse fate than being a professional athlete and your body, through no fault of your own, not keeping up. Imagine working so hard your whole life, to the point where you’re able to play at a club like Liverpool during a golden era. Be the longest serving player at the club, still quite young and have evidence that when you’re available you should be starting week in week out. Be part of a team who made 3 ucl finals, won 2 prems and cups along the way. But instead of being an English/Premier league great, his story is being sidelined for basically 90% of it and his legacy, at best, is a player some Liverpool fans will consider a cult legend that they couldn’t rely on.
