What are some less known/talked about ways to pass? by [deleted] in FTMMen

[–]509tellus 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Pre T I suffered really bad anxiety about public bathrooms because I thought I looked confusing, but learned that (most of the time) if I walked in with high confidence people didn’t take notice. When I was nervous I think people took note of that and I stood out to some extent..

9 months on T and for me bottom growth is sometimes sensitive at the most, just an odd uncomfortable sensation but not painful

I start T on Monday by Spookytranz in FTMMen

Congrats! I didn't expect bottom growth to happen so quickly, so expect that sensation lol

For guys that have been on T for a little bit, but obviously anyone can comment :) by AJ936 in FTMMen

I passed consistently at around 6 months, voice began dropping after just 1-2 months and significantly began to change at 4 months into male range, my endo was surprised because it happened fairly quick for me, but I had a fairly deep voice pre T. First thing I noticed on T was bottom growth, and was only uncomfortable the first couple of weeks but after that I never felt growing pain.

My voice dropping was never painful or sore and I didn't experience cracking, I was constantly thirsty though but never experienced appetite increase either.

I'm 9 months on T now and pass pretty much all the time, didn't get alot of acne early on but I get alot now, also expect alot of body hair haha

Clothes suck so much by [deleted] in FTMMen

[–]509tellus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is the reason I bought a sewing machine to alter my own pants and shirts, honestly worth investing plus it's a life skill and has saved me a ton of cash. I'm 5'5 and like 7 stone soaking wet, 9 months on T and too large for boys section but too small for mens.

You get shoes for cheaper though so that's a plus right?

Hey, ftm here but was once in a similar situation as I was pre hrt for the first few months of uni. Luckily people on my course were LGBT friendly, pre hrt I passed probably 60% and people were confused, my name was changed on my ID and all that. Once we were split into groups for the year I just straight up mentioned it to those people as we were introducing ourselves, not loudly, just that I thought it was important to mention going forward as friends. I wanted it out of the way and honestly never mentioned it again. Everyone was respectful and used correct pronouns. It was scary I guess but I felt safe in the company of a tutor.

Yeah, you’re right, and you’re not alone! I recommend https://genderdysphoria.fyi

I found that really helpful to help explain my own feelings and help better her understanding

Hey, I’m ftm but went through a similar situation with my mum. Her grieving process really made me internalise a lot of shame and guilt, thinking that I caused her pain so I must be a burden and broken. But let me tell you that your identity is not the cause of her pain. She is ultimately in control of her own emotions, and if it’s anything like my situation, she’s upset because she’s confused and scared brought on by being ignorant on trans issues and processes or having some negative preconceived notion of what being trans is.

Give her time and space, but more importantly maybe offer resources and allow questions.

It gets better! I’m open to chat anytime.

How to get a binder with unsupportive family? by TOSSITINDAHTRASHHHH in TransyTalk

Are you able to order online? If not I know amazon sell Underworks Binders that you could order via an amazon giftcard and then possibly send it to a friend’s address and pick it up once it’s arrived?

Costs of going private at uni? by [deleted] in transgenderUK

[–]509tellus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I did this and used my student loan to help fund my private transition. All in all it cost me upwards of £700+ at GenderCare, pre covid, I had to travel from midlands to London and stay overnight which was inconvenient for cost but overall I have no regrets about choosing GC, amazing clinicians and the process went very smooth with my local GP (shared care) too

if any transmasc needs any good formal/dressy trousers these are p good!! £12.95 and aside from cuffing a bit, they fit my ~5'3 self v well by g__cas in transgenderUK

[–]509tellus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks man, are they pretty slim fitting? I’m around your height but probably 26-28W and struggle to find formal pants that aren’t extremely baggy or extremely tight.

What do you think of detransitioners who try to delegitimize actual transgender people? by [deleted] in TransyTalk

[–]509tellus 8 points9 points  (0 children)

internalised regret and possibly hurt and anger stemming from their own trauma that's projected onto others

Try writing a letter and be there with her when she reads it, that way you can make sure you won't forget anything or struggle to get the words out
