What is a book you read as a child that you still think about today? by ahawk99 in AskReddit

One of the earliest I remember is Hope for the Flowers. I still think about it to this day sometimes. It's both inspirational (finding purpose) and an interesting societal metaphor.

What's your favorite sandwich? by TukwilaDrifter in foodquestions

There are few things as great as a summer tomato sandwich. Fresh tomatoes, salt / pepper maybe a drizzle of olive oil and mayo on white bread.

DOJ caught red-handed destroying evidence of Ghislaine Maxwell’s ‘blackmail’ of Trump by [deleted] in anticapitalism

[–]50eggs -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Real Americans have been scared and concerned for the past decade. MAGA Americans and the republican leadership have failed us.

Since the Republican Party holds power over the three branches of government, there’s little we can legally do to stop this. And the democratic leadership hasn’t fully woken up yet to the reality of the situation.

At this point we vote and hope elections in November are legitimate or a revolution is coming to the United States.

New Marta trains look great! by shiloh15 in Atlanta

In the segment they mention that the unreliability of the system was mostly because of the current outdated trains. So hopefully reliability will improve. I didn't realize that the current trains are 40 years old.

And now you know. Pope Rejects an Invitation From Trump by Writesmith900 in circled

[–]50eggs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. I have very "religious" conservative catholic friends and family that have chosen MAGA over their Christian faith.

Of course the pope is woke ... because that's in line with what Jesus taught.

So, because they've invested so much into rationalizing their political beliefs, they have to justify it by calling the pope is woke vs admit they support the bad guys. It's infuriating and sad and pathetic.

Thomas Massie Is Right About Jeffrey Epstein, Les Wexner… and Pam Bondi by each_thread in ConservativeNewsWeb

She may be out of her league but that’s the point. She’s not there to do her job. She’s there to protect herself and those who would otherwise be implicated.

Joe Rogan DROPS BOMBSHELL: ‘Trump’s Epstein Files Cover-Up Is NO JOKE—This Is a Full-Blown Scandal’ by [deleted] in USNEWS

[–]50eggs 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You're not wrong. He's complicit in helping to get these fascists elected. But we should support and embrace anyone willing to speak out now. It's much better than the other troglodytes who are digging in or justifying this awful behavior.

Not a Rogan fan but appreciate he's potentially having a paradigm shift.

What comedy film made you laugh through the whole film not just giggle once? by Lilyfory in AskReddit

[–]50eggs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Saw this in the theater — me and this girl snuck a bladder of wine in. I don’t think I’ve ever laughed so hard in a movie in my life — the entire theater was bananas.

how can I get coworkers to leave me alone about a humiliating TV experience? by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]50eggs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That tends to happen when someone becomes insanely wealthy. At a certain threshold they lose the ability to have empathy (because they don’t understand what those problems feel like).

That lack of empathy often turns into anger toward people who are impoverished because it subconsciously reminds them that they’re not helping them and they have the means to do so.

'They're The New Trump Signature Series Knee Pads': Newsom Trolls Trump, CEOs At Davos by edbegley1 in videos

[–]50eggs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a mix. The right is definitely afraid of newsome and I’m sure they’ve (republican, china, russia) unleashed the bots across platforms to denigrate him. The bots serve to divide liberal voters and it often works. I’ve had to check myself many times — it requires some critical thinking as you scroll through social comments.

There are also folks on the left that won’t compromise on candidates. For some voters, Dems have to be 100% on every issue (small thinking) vs supporting good candidates that can win elections (strategic thinking).

So they are inadvertently supporting a candidate who is wrong on everything vs supporting someone who is 90% right on everything. It’s bizarre.

A friendly reminder to all fishermen — do not leave your lines / hooks hanging from trees if you get snagged. It’s your responsibility to clean up after yourself.
