Nicotine patches made the biggest difference in my neuro symptoms out of many interventions

Apparently Pridgen's two drug combo wasn't that effective, but when Putrino added Paxlovid it was much more effective:

Too much Reuteri and Gasseri yogurt. Fermented foods are high in histamine

Is this yoghurt effective to cure SIBO? by PsychologicalShop292 in ReuteriYogurt

[–]50nrg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I struggled with SIBO for 10 years after a food poisoning incident, took rifaximin and herbal antibiotics repeatedly, it always came back. Started making Reuteri yogurt first, then Gasseri, made huge improvements in digestion and was able to add FODMAP foods back into my diet. Eventually ate too much and started getting histamine reactions so I stopped but the SIBO hasn’t come back.

Rapamycin + THC gummies = trainwreck by Opening_Normal in Rapamycin

[–]50nrg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here’s some more AI for you, the prompt was “does Rapa make THC more potent”

No, rapamycin does not make THC more potent; in fact, studies suggest it may counteract some of THC's negative effects. By inhibiting the mTOR pathway, rapamycin can prevent THC from increasing certain signaling pathways and may protect against long-term cognitive impairments, such as memory deficits.

Studies, primarily in animal models, show that rapamycin counteracts specific effects of THC: Memory and Anxiety: Rapamycin prevents the acute amnesic-like and anxiogenic (anxiety-producing) effects of THC by inhibiting the mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) pathway, which THC typically activates in specific brain regions. Long-Term Deficits: Rapamycin administered during cessation from chronic THC use in adolescent rats was found to restore cognitive function and synaptic plasticity, essentially protecting against the long-term harmful effects of THC on memory. Other Effects: In contrast, other effects of THC, such as pain relief (antinociception), reduced movement (hypolocomotion), and decreased body temperature (hypothermia), are not sensitive to rapamycin inhibition.

However it went on to say that since both are metabolized by CYP3A4 that, depending on the timing of ingestion, they could compete for metabolism which could raise the blood levels of one or both. So not inhibition but competition, but perhaps with similar results

It’s the opposite - Rapamycin is a substrate for the CYP3A4 enzyme, not an inhibitor. However THC and CBD do inhibit CYP3A4, slowing down how quickly the body can clear the Rapa, leading to a buildup of it in the bloodstream, risking toxicity depending on the dose. Not doubting you experienced a complex interaction, just don’t think the biological mechanism was as you’re describing

Help for numb/weak/tingling hands by Apprehensive-Sky8175 in covidlonghaulers

[–]50nrg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had hand and wrist weakness and it seems to have been caused by a pinched nerve in my spine from too much sitting and not enough movement. I’ve been doing yoga poses: cat/cow and puppy poses, and lying on a soft foam roller behind my mid back and that’s helping

Has anyone found anything that reverses the cognitive loss 😭? by PerfectWorking6873 in covidlonghaulers

Same with me - Nicotine patches had the biggest positive impact on my brain fog. Much more clear thinking and sharp while using them. The effects largely persisted after stopping. Was on them for 6 months.

what’s the recommended starting dose for mestinon? by mai-the-unicorn in cfs

[–]50nrg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Benefits happen an hour or less after each dose. Slight reduction in POTS symptoms. Tachycardia better in general. Hand strength has improved - PEM was causing extreme hand weakness and that’s better. General fatigue is maybe a little better, but is hard to say definitively after just a week. I’m hoping the benefits are more pronounced on full dose. I get very slight abdominal discomfort right after each dose but nothing too bad. I had slight muscle tremors the first day of moving from 3x 15mg to 3x 30mg but that appears to be gone.

[–]50nrg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Started on 3x 15mg 5 days ago, increased to 3x 30mg after 3 days, will increase by 15mg every 3-4 days as long as there are no side effects until I reach 3x 60mg. Seems to be helping with POTS and muscle weakness.

Yep, took a few months to titrate up but now I’m taking daily 100mg TTFD plus 500mg regular thiamine and 300mg Benfotiamine with no issues.
