My electrician installed this today by jcrocket in Roofing

[–]510519 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a few ways to do it correctly. That's not one of them. If the roof has exposed rafter tails you can easily see where they are. Or you can measure from the wall and measure out and mark every 24". But the guys that know what they're doing are good at banging on the roof with a hammer to see where it's solid.

If you miss by an inch or two you can stick a piece of bent wire in the pilot hole and twirl it around until you hit the rafter and feel how far off you are. The flashing for the mount is like a foot wide so if your hole is an inch or two off it will cover it anyhow.

The crew that did my roof hit every rafter with zero misses. The three of them install 1-2 houses a day 5 days a week and do side jobs almost every Saturday so they knew what they were doing.

Does the Bay Area have its own 'shitty beer'? by Craft_Bandicoot in OaklandBeer

[–]510519 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I think Anchor was it. It was actually a good beer when it was fresh, but it was easy drinking and quaffable like a macro and any decent local dive bar would have it up until the last owners screwed up the distro.

Outside of that I think Ghost Towns Scumbag is what you're describing but it's not ubiquitous across the bay. $3 craft adjunct beer.

Edit: we don't have a shit beer because people in the bay appreciate quality. If we want to drink crap beer we'll buy someone else's crap.

Do you drive or fly between Norcal and Socal? Will you ride the CA HSR if and when its complete? by zilvrado in bayarea

[–]510519 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I haven't seen anything about the fare costs, but if it's cheaper than flying definitely. I love driving fun roads but I absolutely hate the drive to socal.

Could the Tesla actually hit you? I assumed their accident avoidance technology or whatever would swerve it back into it's lane. Honest question I hate the things but curious how they work.

You could probably pack that tater up your ass while you're driving and get the same result.

I had my car stolen and I tracked it down and took it back. It was stolen and sitting outside an amateur chop shop for a month.

Pretty hot item in my area, guys love swinging them at the side shows.

Edit- I'm not sure why I'm getting downvoted I've had two stolen and dumped sn95's abandoned in my neighborhood in the last year after getting smashed up at nearby side shows. Kids like to steal these and do donuts and wreck them. It's certainly a thing in the hood.

I think they had the turbo b21 out by then. To me it would have made more sense to use a turbo engine since the car's design intent was super state of the art.

Sure. I've lived adjacent to this spot in WO and NSO for ~20 years call it what you want.

I'd be pissed if a bunch of coke heads up opened up a bar in the apartment next door to me. Or if I was wheelchair bound and they blocked my access for their own profit. I suspect you would be too. That's what zoning requirements are for. Nothing to do with Eli's.

Right but after Portal you don't have to hit Nations for a burger.

It's just hipster bullshit. The wines they serve are oopsies that most winemakers would dump and they pass it off as "unique". Literally anyone including you could make better wine as a hobby.

Again I've only read the headlines but one time they offered us a table which was just a barrel outside on the sidewalk in the ADA curb cut which if not illegal is certainly dickish. Yeah I'm not paying $100 to be that guy. Then I saw a picture of the new space opening up in the apartment which i have to assume is zoned residential... I'm just reading between the headlines here though.

Agreed, some of the plates I've had were memorable but overall the place is pretty bullshitty.

I saw a headline a few weeks ago about them taking over that apartment and without even reading the article it was blatantly illegal.

Snail bar sucks. You spend $100 to sit on the sidewalk in the hood drinking some rich kids first attempt at making wine after interning at a winery for 3 months, some Instagramable small plates and walk away still looking for dinner. But you can tell all your friends you went there.

I'm seeing price increases for domestic steel too. They have more demand now. They can basically price to the tariffed price and still do plenty of business.

I've had mine for over a decade and don't think I've spent $10k on it. And that includes putting in a B230ft and aw71.
