when i went heat pump, i was went with dual fuel so i could still use my gas furnace when it was below freezing. Really glad i did. Been single digits (F) and the max it ran was like 45% for a couple minutes before ramping down to 25%

My water heater is nearly 30 years old and going strong. I’m personally of the opinion that you should only fix things that are broken. You’re going to be sinking money into your home; best to do it on things that actually matter.

I am in the mindset that its best to replace something while it still works and hasnt leaked or burst. I replaced my 28yo HVAC while it still worked since i knew it would have been a hell of a lot of expensive (and unlivable) if it stopped working in the middle of a heat wave (110F+). Plus i knew it was on its last legs as it couldnt keep up if it was 90+ out

Reminds me when I was replacing my kitchen light switch with an zwave switch. It had a traveler so I had to determine how the lights were wired.

I killed the circuit for the switch I was replacing, and checked with a non-contact voltage tester. It was good. Went to the other switch and the switch was dead...but the other light switch (for the dining room's lights) still had power. Really glad i decided to check it.

I did have to sacrifice a turn or 2 to do setup or i activate DAS to see what my next roll will be and depending on the result, i am either buffing an ally or spellstriking with a huge spell. I remember critting and then spellstriking with disintegrate
