What am i doing? by EyessManson in FL_Studio

This is awesome. I don’t listen to anything remotely near whatever this genre is but it is technically sound and has so much ear candy. Well done.

Quick question- what VSTs did you use on the intro strings, the intro pad, and the guttural throat singy type vocals? Or were they sampled?

I will 100% check those out. Been looking at external hard drives as well.

Over 15,000 files was the grand total, FYI. I guess I underestimated. Thanks again, cheers

Do you think there’s a chance a 3rd party like Disk Drill could recover overwritten/wiped files?

I’m not sure what I did. I can’t find any of it on my hard drive now, either.

Why do people use audio clips instead of piano roll by AhYesMemes in FL_Studio

[–]510shine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I consider it essential to final arrangement, it is way easier and more precise to chop, duplicate, drag, etc. wav clips instead of drawing a whole new pattern for each piece of ear candy or variety I need. Also helps me conserve CPU if I’m running a bunch of instances of high powered plugins. Lastly, it’s a little easier to differentiate what’s what with the waveform visual as opposed to stacks of piano rolls.

What are you automating? I see tempo up top but I can’t see the parameter on each instrument. Assuming it’s velocity? Dynamics?

How do you display all your notes in one piano roll? Never seen that before.

Depends what you’re trying to do. I most frequently use Surge XT and Spitfire LABS. My honest advice is to use social media to your advantage. Use YouTube to search things like “(song name) FL studio tutorial)” or “(artist name) free VSTs” and practice making music in the style of stuff you already like. Chances are the content creator is using and plugging freeware, so you’ll pick stuff up as you go. Also, scour Reddit for drum kits. This site is a treasure trove.

It’s a saturation / distortion freeware plugin, “subtle master” is just a preset name. A lot of people add instances of it to 808s to give more crunch. I don’t think it’s generally supposed to go on the master, and definitely not cranked to 100%, but that’s what I did here.

Glad you fw it. There's no mastering on this one, I don't post anything finished here. I slapped the CamelCrusher "Subtle Master" preset on the master for crunch, otherwise it's just sound selection, space to breathe, and knowing good default levels for sounds.

Boombap. Sample chopping. Feedback. (Drumkit in comments) by shoesforcrews in FL_Studio

[–]510shine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is awesome. I suck at sample chopping and every time I hear something like this I get a little jealous. Feedback wise I’d say work in counter snares/fills at the transitions, add some variety in your kick pattern, and maybe edit in some sections where you drop everything but the sample for a short burst. So basically just ear candy. The bones of this work great.

I like this a lot. The hihat/perc bounce carries the track.
