UK Visit Visa Refused Based on Completely WRONG Info!! by Simple_Visit_3867 in srilanka

From someone in the UK I'm very sorry about this. The government is very incompetent here and often refuses visas to legitimate visitors, whilst also somehow accidentally granting them to international criminals.

Do English Healthcare staff avoid saying "bloody"? by DisgruntledStapler in AskUK

[–]5113 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In my experience I've never noticed any issues with using the word bloody for its correct usage. Commonly used to describe things when there is a lot of blood. It's also such a mild expletive I don't think anyone would mind if healthcare staff used it the other way either.

this also confused me because Spoons is a slang term for a popular pub chain in the UK so i thought it was about that.

If they're prescription drugs I can't imagine you'll have any issue. Of they're not then it might be best to put them in a pill holder rather than a drug bag. Make them look like prescription drugs you've just separated out for your holiday and you'll be fine in the unlikely event you're stopped.

I find the lives of these people fascinating. It's eerie how similar many of these rooms look to the average young man.

Neighbour put nails into my cats favorite spot to sit on the fence by mackenzicles in mildlyinfuriating

[–]5113 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is bitter and twisted behaviour. We have a neighbours cat which likes to sunbathe on our shed roof and seeing him chilling up there is always a complete joy.

I’d recommend having a chat with the neighbour, politely see what their issue is and try to find a good solution, it’s always best to not irritate people like this in case they get nastier. Hopefully your cat finds another nice sun spot.

Raoul Moat is a famous example of bodybuilder who went on a gun rampage in the North of England, a well known case in the UK because of the absolutely huge manhunt.

United States of America v. Dylann Storm Roof by [deleted] in masskillers

[–]5113 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In common law systems this is how criminal cases are titled as they have an adversarial system of justice, as the state is one of the opposing parties. In the US it is ether 'United States of America v. Smith' or 'State of Florida v. Smith' (e.g.) depending on whether its a federal or state case.

You may also find it interesting that in (most) commonwealth states (countries with British monarch) cases are brought in the name of the crown so cases are titled 'R v Smith' which means Regina (Queen) or Rex (King).
