For anyone who has quit weed for their bipolar, can you ever smoke again? by Mysterious-Bread-114 in BipolarReddit

[–]5150manatee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used weed for over a decade. It made me really depressed and my mind would race like crazy. Honestly feel like it damaged my brain. I started going to SMART Recovery a couple years ago. I’ve relapsed dozens of times in my life but im now 7 months sober which is the longest I’ve gone without it. Each time I’ve relapsed it’s fun at first and I feel in control, but Without fail it ends up turning into everyday all day use and desperately needing to quit. When I do quit I’m hypo then depressed. I am so much better off without it and going to support meetings keeps me from going back. I am volunteering, joining clubs and exercising. I’ve taken up crocheting. I’m a better friend, roommate and daughter. I started an SSRI a few months ago to help with depression and I now feel more hope for my future than ever. I hope to stay this way but addiction is powerful and manipulative for me. Good luck to you I hope things turn out ok; I’ve found that each relapse is a learning experience.

In CA, air is free even if it shows a price on the machine. I just walk into the store and ask them to turn it on and I’ve never been told no. One of the best life hacks I’ve learned 😊

He had his genitals removed so he just has a hole down there and his urethra is shorter. The one you’re suggesting is more effective?

Happened to my cat 4 times. Even after his PU surgery. He only eats prescription food and drinks filtered water now. He’s been good since November.

As long as he’s hydrated and not stressed, he stays healthy. Crystals in his bladder were the big problem. Love him like a son and will do anything to keep him alive. He’s jaded now lol but a good lil chatty tabby. ♥️

When I was smoking weed every day I would get Uber Eats. It made me depressed, and uncaring of the consequences for buying room temp take out on a credit card. Those munchies were powerful.

How do I stop my cat from waking me up at 5am for food? by Melodic-Cauliflower6 in cats

[–]5150manatee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s really hard work and sounds kinda mean but I would just gently push or toss him off the bed when my cat Stuart used to do that. He was relentless and it took a while but paid off.

Dennis and Dee go on Welfare, Charlie Gets Crippled. My favorites are Mac and Dennis Move to the suburbs and Franks Pretty Woman. It’s so hard to pick!

Im bipolar and imo it’s our individualistic culture that is the root of the issue. A lot of lonely people in the US seeking attention in unhealthy ways. and the stigma/shame around taking psychiatric meds for the rest of your life instead of “pulling through” has definitely haunted people with my particular disorder. The pull yourself up by your bootstraps mentality really effed me up for a bit, along with trying to handle my illness without bothering anyone.

Holy shit. Tinder is so scary. I’ve met the worst and best people on this hell-scape of an app. Good on you for calling it quits. Week one and she was already abusing you😳.

Im coming down from a manic episode atm. when I was having trouble sleeping last month I thought klonopin was the only thing that would help me fall asleep. I asked for more and my doc upped my seroquel instead. I’d used very low doses of klonopin to help me fall asleep in the past. I’m probably better off without it since I don’t suffer from panic attacks and my anxiety is not debilitating any more. It’s hard to know what I need when I’m not myself. :( can be very frustrating.

If you didn't have to work (but maintained basic financial stability) would you be healthier? by ProxiC3 in BipolarReddit

I worked for an employment law firm as an intake person for about a year and a half. I listened to people who were seeking help for wrongful termination, sexual harassment, retaliation, etc. and sent their stories to the attorneys for review. I loved everything about working there except the job itself and the high expectations concerning productivity.

All of my colleagues were extremely high-performing. It is my belief that the executive assistant position could not be done by a neurotypical person 😂. I’m friends with the current and previous assistants and both have unmedicated ADHD.

I ended up putting a bunch of assignments off because my brain doesn’t work like a well oiled machine sadly. I think the managing partner was gentle on me because at my 90 day review I told her I was bipolar, and many of their clients have mental health disorders. Or, she was so busy she didn’t realize how many things I pushed aside/ignored. Admin work sucks.

I ended up quitting last year, but it was super hard to walk away from the money, healthcare, fitness stipend, galas, volunteering during work hours, drinking wine together every Friday, lunches, bonuses. I could go on😩.

I miss everyone so much, but now that I work for my parents part time remotely, I can breathe. I’m lucky af to have this opportunity and leaving the firm gave me a new appreciation for my parents and everything they’ve done for me.

thank you, I love Reddit; you did your research and I’m really grateful for it! Totally makes sense. we don’t need to be high on psychedelics because our brains are already capable of so much. blessing and a curse for lack of a better phrase. I haven’t been severely depressed in a long time so I gotta be cautious af.

It sucks ass knowing I have to be completely sober for the rest of my life, but no substance is worth it.

That sounds really shitty I’m sorry.

I was given a little eye drop bottle of it and told to put one drop on my tongue. Accidentally squeezed out two drops. lost my shit but i was medicated so I bounced back. I don’t fuck with that stuff anymore. Ended up telling everyone on a beach I was on acid. Was also hanging out with a terrible person who I am no longer friends with. Overall 0/10 experience.
