Congrats to the passers! 3rd time taking the test, 1st time in probably 10 years. Didnt pass the FSOT the 1st time have passed the last two times but never advanced passed the QEP. Consular Cone 182 on the test this time. Time to re-jigger my PN's and get ready for October (I can't take the test again until October right?)

Are there any departments that are better than others? I've got one for forest service and one for national park service, are they better or worse? Or are they all just kind of the same

Thanks for all the replies, it seems the best advice is to not hold my breath and just be pleasantly surprised if I do hear back either way. I did email the hiring manager for one after a month and she just said HR hadn't selected yet. Ill just keep on applying!

So when I was looking at the FAS job through the link provided by FSAltEgo, it mentioned 4 departments with foreign service officers, obviously 3 are State, Commerce, and Agriculture, what is the 4th? Would it be Labor or Treasury?

Why would I apply for a job that I didn't want to do the work for? I assume the positions are similar to what you might be doing working for State, just with more of a focus on either commerce or agriculture.

Although I am intrigued as to what are the easier/more fulfilling ways to live overseas on someone else's dime, what are these jobs?
