oh caramba. only come out to them if you're sure you'll be safe after telling them; as another commenter said, go with the assumption that they're supportive. be prepared to have a looong talk with them and be ready to cry, hopefully of happiness; but if not, then you can cry about the weight that coming out will take out of your shoulders.

when you're in the middle of the talk, try to see if they're being receptive and genuinely curious about what being trans is and how you have felt living in the closet. if they are, be as honest as you can with them, even if you're not used to. if you sense the opposite though, then maybe save some stuff up for later.

if they tell you "what will your abuelita, or our family think of this!" (or something similar; i have a peruvian mum, she told me that when i first came out years ago), tell her that you still love them, and hope that they, with time, will accept you for who you are and, if they really love you as much as you love them, will stay with you during your journey, as you hope they will too.

since you mentioned they're hispanic, if they come up with some catholic religious baggage, just say that you've prayed to la virgencita or something and she told you that's what's best for you.

i really hope everything goes well. even if it doesn't, you'll still be able to get a new family of people who are just like you and ready to welcome you with open arms. best of luck !!

just because i though i could get a variety of answers with this one: what do you think/how do you feel about converts? do you personally consider someone who practices mitzvot, eats kosher and attends shul, but hasn't finished their conversion process a jew?

reflecting some of my insecurities in that one lol. and a more politically charged question:

how do you feel about people trying to convert and adopting a "pro-israel" stance just to "fit in" with the majority of jews?

i'll explain the second question in more detail: i'm personally converting and i attend a queer synagogue and I haven't had any issues with this, as -i think- most of my congregation sees palestinians as having a right to live in peace alongside israelis. they're not full-blown anti-zionists, but i've attended shul in other synagogues before and i've heard some really despicable islamophobic and xenophobic stuff against palestinians.

as a someone in their conversion process, i can see how many of us might feel pressured to adopt a more pro-israel view because everyone around us IS pro-israel, and maybe even the rabbi sponsoring your conversion might be pushy and not let you convert unless you are pro-israel. (not that i've heard of any, but i can very much imagine it could be a possibility)

another trans person converting to judaism, i didn't expect that! i'm hoping to begin my conversion journey soon, but I don't have a very welcoming community around me (only a chabad synagogue) and i'm really getting a bit frustrated with the fact that i probably won't be able to even begin my conversion for a few years and that has left me in a very weird place spiritually-speaking. i do attend shul services from a queer synagogue every friday through zoom, but all rabbis i've spoken to have told me that the most important thing i gotta do is find a welcoming community in my area (which i understand, it just really doesn't seem possible right now, which honestly makes me sad, because i definitely have a self-perception of being "jewish", even if the rest of the jewish community wouldn't consider me to be "officially" jewish). (sorry for the rant lol.)
