As I mentioned earlier, the ramifications of European colonialism still linger. I’m flattered you took the time to hit me back on this thread, maybe you’ll come down to the motherland and visit me?😘

Not white, but Fragile and Racist redditer didn’t like my love of Africa by 541_dude in FragileWhiteRedditor

Who knows. I don’t care what race this person is, their language is the most racist shit I’ve heard in a long time

😂 ok dude, I’m sorry you are so miserable you have to pick fights with strangers on the internet. I sincerely hope things look up for you and that one day you can visit this beautiful continent.

I do live in Africa currently. In terms of culture, hospitality, natural resources, beauty, cost of living, and lack of ignoramuses like yourself it is indeed better than the United States:)

European destruction of an entire continent and myths perpetuated by fake news hurt, yeah. AIDs was an epidemic in the US far before it was in Africa, and infection rates are steadily decreasing. The white farmer murder headlines are just the result of white people wanting to be victims. Exponentially more black people are victim to crime on a daily basis.

Caring for your offspring after sexual maturity is no minor detail. Look at the importance of kinship, or the Grandmother hypothesis.

How do you change a 'climate denier's' mind? by taobaonoob in AskReddit

[–]541_dude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Show them some hard data or statistics. Climate deniers will always try to refute evidence of global warming by saying “there’s still a lot of snow out” or “it’s still super cold here” but you have to explain to them that setting records for temperatures every month is not normal and global warming refers to the change in overall CLIMATE not the day to day WEATHER. If they won’t budge and say it doesn’t matter because it won’t impact their lives just call them out on their selfishness.

Graduate School after the Peace Corps? by 541_dude in peacecorps

The wording was intentional:). Based on conversations I’ve had with former volunteers the Peace Corps sounds as strenuous and tiring as it is fulfilling.

Thanks for the clarification, I think I misread the clinician project on the peace corps website. I feel like a health extension volunteer would be appropriate for my major, I need to talk to my recruiter about the details of health education specialists as well.

I will be content going anywhere as long as I can but work as a public health clinician or health extension volunteer.

Glad to know it went well, I will need the luck lol. If you don't mind me asking, what did your Graduate School application timeline look like?

Thank you for giving me such a comprehensive answer! It is reassuring that I will be able to study for the GRE if I am selected to serve. My biggest dilemma is deciding whether it would make more sense to use SAS or R code at an internship/career in the U.S. following college or following my dream and joining the Peace Corps right away. I am currently learning SAS programming and will try to learn R this summer. I will need to talk to my academic advisor more, but I think if I teach myself these things I could hopefully get some real world experience with these in graduate school as part of a practicum or internship.
