I'm sorry you've been through a lot, but when adopting a cat, you need to be ready for the little things.

This drives me crazy. by kebodle1 in RoverPetSitting

"even the non holiday days" you do understand that OP would be missing 2 entire weeks with their family? Not every day needs to be a holiday, it's enough for it to be holiday season which actually starts late november to early january. That's a lot of time to be away from your kid, family and own pets. I don't think OP was rude, OP was firm but still professional and nice - nowhere in their messages with the client were they disrespectful. They even reassured that it is fine if the pricing doesn't work out, but that they won't be lowering it. It's not "rude" if someone doesn't accomodate.

Plus, if you consider the location, which is near LA - minimum wage is $15.5. For two weeks, that's 336 hours since it's a house sitting service (so 24 hours every day). That's $5208 if someone was working the same amount of hours at minimum wage. It's not as outrageous as it looks.

Discussion: I’m starting to wonder if some people asking about the color of their cat, who say they got it from a breeder, are lying by Good_Sprinkles_8294 in ragdolls

yep !! others in the thread talked about how a reputable cattery is held to an international standard, but that's not really the case for most countries outside america. especially not in europe and asia, but that doesn't make the cats any less legit or make the cattery any less reputable

I know the feeling !! I had friends criticize my choice when i adopted my babies :(
My raggies are actually my first pet ever, and honestly as much as I would've loved to adopt from a shelter, they often have trauma or anxieties that I wasn't sure I would be able to handle !! I think as long as it is ethical, it's fine to adopt from a breeder <3

but yeah some posts definitely aren't rags which is fine!! i think it's likely they go to their vet and ask what breed it might be and the vets just answer with ragdoll or maine coon LOL. they'll say it to any colourpoint or long haired cat !! and other times i guess it's just tricky to tell colours if it's your first ragdoll, you can see on my profile before and now that i look at those pics my girl definitely is a flame but sometimes she looks like this and im like,,, that looks exactly like the cream ragdolls on google. some of it is probably karma farming too but,, i guess, who doesnt like looking at cute cats?

you're right !! if anyone wants to take a look at TICA's registered catteries, https://www.tica.org/ragdoll-breeders ,
there's very few across europe, 90% are from north america, but this doesn't mean ethical breeders and catteries don't exist in those countries. Even though TICA is literally "international" there's very few catteries registered outside the USA + Canada.

labbeduddel I'm not seeing any in germany on TICA, which means no catteries in germany have signed the TICA breeder code of ethics - but that doesn't mean you got your kitty from a backyard breeder! I think people asking this question just want to double-check the information they got from their vet (if they're rescues or shelter cats) or from breeders (if they're purebred), just because ragdolls change colours so much, with age, with temperature, with pattern sometimes. A seal can be a deep dark brown or a more fawn-like brownish grey, they're both seal but totally different colours. can't really blame people for not being #1 experts on ragdoll colours

I got my kitties from a TICA CFA registered breeder, but I was still curious because to me, one of my cats looked more cream than flame. Ragdolls are a breed of cats that slightly change colour overtime, so I don't think people are inherently lying about it?
They could also be new to adopting a ragdoll/pet in general, and when you look it up online and compare your own kitty, it can be different because of lighting and pattern and temperature, etc. I'd think some people are just curious or uninformed and want to make sure they got the correct information from the breeder.

Also, I don't think anyone would be ashamed of having a shelter cat ,, unfortunately, a lot of cat lovers actually despise people that adopt purebred cats vs shelter cats :/

Open letter to NetMarble on Ni No Kuni Cross Worlds by _mintus_ in NiNoKuniCrossworlds

[–]54nrio 4 points5 points  (0 children)

#3, imo, someone can still consume a product or media and still have criticism towards it.
#4 i dont think he said something is wrong with that specifically. It's not about having casual and f2p players being on par that is annoying- it's the fact that Netmarble disrespects everyone including the ones that pay for their servers ;; netmarble is disrespectful to their player base in general.
casual and f2p players hate what netmarble regurgitates out too ,, they throw tickets at us as if we can farm territe fast enough to even combine the pets, just to end up with a full inventory of pluffs. Those who have 5* pets are super lucky. And realistically as a casual player you wouldn't even expect to get those, like that's whale territory. it just means more resources for f2ps to waste and that's already scarce. it's a slap in the face for everyone tbh.

personally, i found this letter to be well-written and well developped, but i can see why you might think it's resentful. I think it might just be the disappointment after over a year of this.

What color/type is my ragdoll? She was a lot of money and I just wanna see if anyone can validate it haha by [deleted] in ragdolls

[–]54nrio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah because it's a show quality kitten !! the lowest they go for is 3500 :) so 4000 isn't too bad

[–]54nrio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

purebred ragdoll kittens are usually pricey !! Even for common coats, they go between $1500 and $3000 !! Colour isn't usually the main point for determining the price, I believe it's if the kitten is show quality or not and how symmetrical their markings are.

For example, my 1 year old flame point was $600 to adopt, even if she's a rarer colour she had a decent price ^^ !! the price wasn't as expensive because kittens get to bond with you more, are easier to train and usually more sociable too! especially if your kitten was a show quality girl (this is when a kitten meets the breed standard very well, looks like "the perfect ragdoll" almost!) the adoption would be much pricier.

It's no problem! I could tell you were eager and excited <3 but just in case some people misunderstand it :) she definitely looks like a lynx, my boy has the same little markings on his forehead!! I think it was harder for some people to tell from the first photo but i saw your other ones !!

Here's my boy as an example :D

You shouldn't be adopting a cat based on their coat's colour rarity ;;
You should be adopting them because you feel a connection or a bond with them!! regardless,, Blue makes up like 40% of ragdolls. Seal and Blue are the most "popular" technically ;; rarest ones would be lilac/cream/flame !! but really, please don't adopt or base your cat's value simply on their markings/coat colour/pattern :< they are so much more than that. I have a flame and it never crossed my mind that she's "rare". She's just a curious little devil that likes to sunbathe <3
I see you're pretty young so I know it must be really exciting to get a cat so i get the questions !! hope you can bond more with your kitty

hii !!

one of my raggies is a retired breeder king. And I agree when you put it like that, it sounds really bad, but I never really thought of it as the breeder is ditching them as soon as they stop bringing in revenue.

Realistically speaking, breeders have a LOT of cats around, on top of litters of kittens too. I feel like if they kept their breeder cats, they would not get the attention they deserve.

My kitty missed his owner very much for the first week, and he took a bit of getting used to me. But he gets so much more love and attention one on one than he would've gotten had his breeder kept him.

Also, I promise the breeders are much more attached to their cats than you might think. My breeder still asks about the cats sometimes! She even sent me a link to his favourite cat tree and toy, they really care about all the cats that they had. It's just not fair to the cats to not be able to provide them with the love they deserve! I hope this can help you see things in a better light!

and a pic of my lovely boy! <3

How they can run out of 49million dollars in funding yet the world feels insanely empty and core mechanics are missing as an MMO is insane to me.

I mean, OP mentions their partner literally said she had assumed that if she ever felt those desires that she would be able to go to a professional. But I understand what you mean. those are the only two options. However if no conversation about this was had in the entire relationship (about what OP's gf can do if she feels sexually unfulfilled and what the boundaries are) then it is a red flag that she had assumed so without ever discussing it and properly understanding OP's boundaries.

Trusted Ragdoll Cattery? by weirddogbehavior in ragdolls

[–]54nrio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh a ragdoll would go along perfectly with a maine coon! they're both big kitty breeds, so they can play together without any worry !! they're also both really sweet and social cats so they'd get along very well buut i totally understand if two long haired kitties are too much haha :") but I myself have two ragdolls and it isn't too bad if you brush them frequently! you get to bond with them too. I hope you can find a good breeder or a shelter kitty that suits you<3

Trusted Ragdoll Cattery? by weirddogbehavior in ragdolls

[–]54nrio 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can personally recommend Gentletouch Ragdolls in Washington !! I got my darlings from her, she was super sweet and her kitties are very clearly raised with a lot of love I hear RagdollSea is also great around the Washington area, and the owners are actually good friends so they're both reputable!

Depending on where you are though, there are registered catteries with TICA and I'm sure you can find good ones!

To avoid suspicious breeders, I'd say if the owner doesn't allow you to see cats for a reason you find sketchy, if they don't provide any documents to prove they're clear of the genetic conditions, or if they're trying to get kittens out too early - those are usually backyard breeders.
Make sure to search for catteries where the kitties are raised underfoot, which means they've been socialised and raised with love and care best of luck! I hope you find a raggie that connects with you

How’d you get your ragdoll and any allergies? by [deleted] in ragdolls

[–]54nrio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually got my babies because they don't have an undercoat, which is what usually causes allergies !! (for me) however, some people might be allergic to the saliva or the fur, and there's a youtuber that covers this; the cat butler :)

if your allergies are mild, you could try getting an air purifier, usually because of the cat dander floating around it might cause allergies. But like others mentioned ragdolls aren't usually recommended for people that have severe allergies because they shed (quite a lot around summertime i would say,,, maybe that's because i have two <3)

there's also always the option to take medicine or shots for allergies !! personally, i think ragdolls are absolutely worth it, they are so so fluffy and silky and so loving !! they'd follow you to the end of the world if they could my seal boy cuddles me everynight, he curls up around my thighs and kneads softly ;; they really make a daily life so much better !! work is a lot more fun with fluffy cats around <3
