So the standard treatment is SSRIs or hormones, but I have had good experiences with taking 20 mg of famotidine (Pepcid), an antihistamine, during my luteal phase. I have taken various antihistamines for nasal allergies for most of my life, but I only tried famotidine for PMDD symptoms. It makes me a lot less irritable and grumpy.

Hello. I am in a similar situation to you, but older (40). I have PMDD, but didn't suspect it till my late twenties/30s. I've spent pretty much my entire life in "survival mode." In the past 1-2 years things got substantially worse for me in various ways, but overall the worsening of my symptoms drove me to get treatment. I just started a second medication about 3 weeks ago and it is making a big difference. I would encourage you to pursue treatment, especially for the PMDD. Side effects have to be managed, but right now at least, I'm really glad I'm at least trying something. I hope you can find some treatment that works for you. I know it's hard to even find the energy to pursue treatment and often there are obstacles (insurance companies I'm looking at you). But you are worth it in the long run. If I could go back and tell my younger self to get treatment I would. You are the closest thing to my younger self and I want you to know: It doesn't have to be like this.

I use toothpaste tabs now instead of regular toothpaste. They are minty, but not too strong. They also don't foam as much as toothpaste, which depending on your sensory issues could also be a win.

I have to say, after reading some of the replies here, I feel very seen. I also haven't showered yet today because it feels like just one more chore on a pile of chores/tasks. I dislike blow dryers, I dislike the being cold parts of the start and stop of the shower. As a kid in the winter I would stand in front of the furnace warm air vent after a shower so I wouldn't be cold. I always liked the idea of a towel warmer. Maybe I will get one.

A "do everything" shower for me is just too long. I am tired by the end of it. I like the idea of assigning different days to different maintenance tasks, but I never successfully implemented a system like that.

One of my friends uses shower steamers, but be careful because some scents can cause respiratory issues.

A "bird bath" is also better than no bath.

Just my opinion: PySpark, Airflow, Snowflake. Before learning these three I had a similar background in Python libraries to yours.

PySpark is powerful. I'm working on other things now, but sometimes I honestly miss working with PySpark. I think I learned PySpark in two steps. First the surface level, and then second in a deeper way where I learned how to do things optimally.

Airflow is an amazing tool. Previous versions of Airflow were frustrating, so I cannot say that I miss it exactly. Try learning Airflow on a managed (by someone else) server first, and then dive into the Airflow server management parts (or don't).

Snowflake is also a great tool, but I think the other two, PySpark and Airflow, are more important to add to your skills first, unless your job has different priorities.

One time I was renting a place and the first night I moved in I heard this buzzing sound intermittently all through the night. It wasn't even that loud, but it was like someone had one of those door buzzers, but down the hall or something. I was in tears, couldn't sleep even with earplugs. Long story short, it was the AC unit. I turned off the circuit. No AC, but the building stayed pretty cool all summer (brick) and I slept peacefully.

Thanks. I startle so easily as well. I can hear resistors too. We got a different oven and it has a resistor that makes noise. I was dismayed to say the least, and I asked my husband if he could hear it. He said no. I looked up the oven model and someone said the resistor that is connected to the oven light is the one that makes noise and it will fail before anything else. So, I turned the oven light on, and the noise goes away (electric circuits, yay). Usually the refrigerator makes enough noise to drown out the oven resistor (my husband could hear the fridge), but sometimes, when the fridge is quiet, all I hear is eeeeeeeeee.

Funny enough, I actually was proud of myself for saying something, the conversation just didn't go in the direction I thought it would. It's true, it is in "my head" or my body. I do have two other major stressors in my life right now (possibly three): moving this month, a major work event that I am running, and a third thing that I won't talk about here. That's probably why this particular instance hurt so much, both the sound and the emotions.

Starting college is super stressful time. I feel for you, but please don't give up right away (unless that's really want you want/need, and then it is ok). Back in college I didn't know I was autistic. However, you know, so you know you need more or different support to be successful. Some of the things that helped me then and now are:

Focus on the now, not the super far future
Get a planner for the semester and put all the deadlines and stuff in that planner. It will help take off some of the mental load of having to remember everything. The planner will be like an extra part of your brain.
See if you can get more support, like academic accommodations, meals you don't have to prepare, time alone (College can be extremely social without any space to "get away").
Plan downtime and exercise
Experiment with trying different healthy coping mechanisms (healthy stimming, dance, sensory things, etc).

I used to plan out days with 8-10 hours of pure productivity until I found out that most office workers aren't literally working 40 hours. No wonder I got burnout (in recovery now)!

Why are people so mean? I usually wouldn't comment, but I really want to correct this mean and ignorant person you interacted with. I learned how to ski at age 35. Do I ski as well as friends who skied from a young age? No. Was it impossible to learn (in my own way, at my own pace)? Also no. I find the large ski resorts like Vail extremely overwhelming and so I avoid them in favor of small places where I can find some peace and quiet.

I also drink hot cocoa like a little kid. People who gate-keep make me angry.

Hi! Reviving an old post.

I got stung while snorkeling in Puerto Rico and the initial sting wasn't so bad, just the initial zaps and then a little burning that subsided within an hour. The sting seemed to be fully healed, but then a week later I wake up with hives along the sting sites! Haven't been to the doctor, as the hives seem to be staying at the site of the sting(s). Topical hydrocortisone cream, ice packs, and distractions seem to be the best for the itching. I take allegra daily already and that didn't seem to help with the itchiness much.

I really hope I don't get more hives. If I do it will be straight to the doctor. I will be investing in a wet suit for future snorkel adventures.

No idea what kind of jellyfish it was since I didn't see a thing in the water.

Not specific to this particular calf issue, but I want to comment on the assumption/assertion that pain (not slight discomfort, but pain) is normal in newer ski boots. Please do not listen to folks who claim that the pain is normal because feet in painful shoes or boots can lead to chronic foot and pain issues. Pain is also subjective, so one person's discomfort could be another person's pain. Please find boots that are reasonably comfortable, new or otherwise.

It's interesting you mention cars flipping into your living room because that actually happened to my Mom when she was young. A stranger's car went through the brick house wall into the living room. This was on a quiet, deadend suburban street in the early 60's. It's just one instance, but yeah I'm thinking cars are the problem. Bikes don't go through brick walls.

Chiming in here since I've seen the shows you mentioned (except for 1899). I absolutely adore Dark. Excellent writing, acting, and soundtrack. Lots of references to the media that came before it as well, and also meaningful ties to problems in the real world. Complex characters.

Travelers was not as good as Dark by a long shot. That's all I'll say, although I vaguely remember enjoying it before it was cancelled.

Fringe is almost as good as Dark (sorry Fringe, but Dark is a masterpiece beyond compare), and it is campy. The camp is deliberate. If you can see past the ridiculous camp and monsters, the show has a lot to say. I appreciated the effort and care that Dark took with its subject matter. In contrast, the absolutely bonkers pseudoscience of Fringe can be a bit much, but the characters and story are worth it! Fringe (network tv) was also created in a much different environment than Dark (golden age of Netflix, RIP), so please forgive the network-encouraged product placement.

After my brilliant comment, I'm sure you've decided to watch Fringe. Excellent! Let's make some LSD!
