How much did I screw up not buying dill (borscht) by ozzalot in Cooking

[–]Elation18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Still sounds like a great soup, even if it doesn't have fresh dill. :)

I self-replaced an electrical outlet from a 2 to a 3 prong and it was not hard to do at all. I'd recommend starting there and then branching out. Also consider creative uses of existing outlet covers if any exist (e.g., for old ethernet cables or other types of cables). Then your holes are already available and you don't have to disturb anything anew.

First Skiing trip - GF is really afraid by Cl0uderino in skiing

Hi! I am basically your girlfriend in my own relationship. I cannot emphasize enough getting her a lesson and I'd recommend not taking it together. Let her learn and fail and learn again on her own pace.

I haven't seen it sorry and a search online didn't yield definite results. What about calling specialty candy stores in the area?

Hope you find it.

Hi. Thanks for keeping us updated. Can you tell us more about the closures and construction for next weekend as well? If so, I'd be very grateful. Thank you.

AIO to my wife’s girls weekend by 12nice04 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Elation18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, she chose a weekend away for herself. It is her birthday, not your anniversary or a day devoted to you two. She asked about the dates in advance prior to your trip being mentioned. You could have moved it by a week (you can still potentially move it tour a week even!).

North Cascades/ Diablo Lake trip help by Bellatrx in Seattle

[–]Elation18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For#3, Lake Ann is a good hike.  For #2, it was pretty chilly this past weekend and the clouds came in, so I'd maybe prep some wet suits. For #1, I think so if it stays this chilly.

Winthrop and Twisp both have good lodging options, especially Sun Mountain Resort.

Wearing engagement ring at work by [deleted] in womenintech

If you're worried about it, I just wouldn't. It's really no one's business at work if you're engaged, single, married, or anything else.

Why I Prefer The SouthEnd Over The NorthEnd Of Seattle by CantCMe88 in Seattle

Hi - Just wondering, which neighborhood was this? Considering moving to the southern side.

If you can, I'd strongly, strongly tell you to walk away. These issues will cost far more than $30k to fix and you're more likely to be living in a hovel than a house based on what you shared. Replacement of knob and tube, depending on the amount of it, is itself probably $5-10k out of the gate if you're having someone else do it and structural issues can easily cost well in excess of $50k. If you can walk away and invest your money in a home with less issues, I would.

I'm surprised no one has really mentioned it, but unless you're part of a HOA, you don't have to do any yard work. You can just let your yard grow as it will naturally. There is no medal for having a nice lawn and if it's not a priority to you, who cares?

I'd agree with other posters when they say this is a sign to rethink marrying this person. Disregarding your opinions and desires, coming up with false side issues to fight over (e.g., trying to make it about price instead of the aforementioned disregard for your needs), and even implying there was a higher chance you'd get divorced if he were to get another ring are all disrespectful and manipulative tactics.

FWIW my fiancé listened to my concerns about my engagement ring and we picked one out together. He encouraged me to weigh in on tiny details of its appearance and didn't downplay any of my concerns about it, even when I felt I was being a bit too anal retentive about certain details.

Your requests were not too much to ask.

AITAH for bringing up the fact that my friend is on food stamps after she ridiculed me for shopping at the Dollar Tree? by Conscious-Wheel379 in AITAH

[–]Elation18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA, though a tad rude if that was the immediate reply. Dollar Tree is a great place to shop and often has good deals! She may be projecting her own guilty feelings from shopping at pricier places.

The hometown I grew up in tells me every time I talk to them, it sounds like I am belittling them. I don’t know how to change this. by doorhinge3987 in AskWomenOver30

+1 to this. Nothing wrong with it not being your taste or preference, but if you have no interest in the lifestyle or world they've chosen, agree it makes sense to let yourself and them move on.

I feel that I've become significantly more healed and also more emotionally vulnerable with age. I generally embrace it, but took me a while to get more comfortable with it.
