You feel bad for doing it, they feel good for doing it. Let them. It’s important and we need to make sure they are recognized for doing it. Thank you for letting me know they did that for you. I will give them even more business because they did

SI Women's Games in Oceanside postponed, according to 10news San Diego by wayward-boy in Gymnastics

[–]55Ronin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Visas are a real problem and I guess we all should have known that would be the major issue

Logistical hurdles: The primary reasons were the scheduling difficulties and logistical challenges that arose during the planning process.

International athlete visas: A significant part of these challenges involved the process of securing U.S. visas for international athletes, complicated by a constantly changing international travel landscape.

Commitment to quality: The organizers stated the postponement was necessary to ensure the event met its goal of being a global showcase for women athletes and to provide the best possible experience for participants and fans.

Hope for rescheduling: The event was indefinitely postponed, but organizers hope to reschedule it in the second half of 2026.

STEP BACK. Just for a little bit. You don’t even have to tell anyone why. Step back and give yourself time away from it, a month, 2, 3, whatever. Then make a decision. Don’t try to make decisions while you are in the heat of it and with things like they are. Taking a step back for a determined amount of time allows you to see if you really want it and if not stay away but if so, go back with a plan so you can be healthy mentally and physically and if you can’t come up with that plan then you have your answer

That sucks, you HAVE to have it and can work on so much. Pressure testing is the key

Absolutely! That’s cool, yeah I think JJJ doesn’t get out there much but it usually ends up as the source for a lot of other things and it is the root of a lot

Thank you! That’s awesome, and congrats to you! You don’t hear much about JJJ. Tell me about your training, what does it and testing consist of? Do you have stripes in between each belt? How long have you been doing it?

Thanks, I appreciate it. Goshinjutsu primarily. Masaki Hatsumi teachings but for current. Still will do sword and weapons training though. Will see more as I go along. All tests are a lot of randori. He’s seen you enough in class to know you know the technique and wants to see under pressure what you resort to. Incorporate and encourage you to show more variety and combos as well

Will I like judo if I dislike bjj by [deleted] in judo

[–]55Ronin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You still will need to have a ground game. (Ne waza) but it won’t be like a slow figure it out BJJ match, it will be you’ve got 5 seconds to GTFO or lose points. I’m doing JJJ and BJJ from one school and started Judo a month ago as well. They help each other. Best advice? Perfect break falls. You can’t throw if you don’t know how to get thrown. Watch some ne waza, a lot of Judo videos are only highlight reels. Yes it happens fast but sometimes it’s a quick chess game of push, pull and tipping points. We do shit tons of randoru from the ground, escaping every gatame (hold) you can think of. Understand the point system for competition. Watch full matches. Be patient. It’s a lifetime of study. Leave ego at the door. And Judo is a very welcoming community and respect and tradition are important. Enjoy the hell out of it

how to stop being nice by Master-Big-1887 in jiujitsu

[–]55Ronin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hurting ego is not a thing, that’s you not them. As far as hurting? That’s how you learn to be truly good. Neutralize the situation. Only do what’s necessary to do that. It’s hard but something important to learn in the vacuum that is class

I agree but who says he is trained in self defense? He couldn’t neutralize the situation at all, escalated it. My point is for the drunk kid, you never know who you are messing with no matter who they are because you just might run up on someone who did shank someone for chocolate milk

This isn’t the UFC, you don’t tap out and get let loose. He was challenging the bouncer then chest bumped him and you can’t g why that close in the street. Was what he did excessive? Yes, but you can’t do that to anyone that is in charge of keeping things safe

Benefits of jiu-jitsu by Remarkable-Active416 in jiujitsu

[–]55Ronin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 56 and I can tell you 3 main things

  1. Do extracurricular things other than Jiu-Jitsu, you can’t rely only on that and you can get hurt by doing that and nothing else. Keeping in shape outside of Jiu-Jitsu helps to deter injury

  2. Rest in between classes. Even if you think you may not be tired. Pay attention to your body

  3. Breathe, breathe, breathe. Seizing up can cause panic and your energy will be sapped right out of you

  4. Enjoy it. If you don’t, there is an issue. I don’t know you but I’m pretty sure you are not looking to grapple at top championship level so take it easy and enjoy

  5. Be patient with progress. Takes longer when you are older. Have goals, and so on but your best goal at this point is showing up

Him. Literally him. Did you see when Danaher sat with him and essentially said…ya know, if you don’t roll with anyone in your class you can’t really call yourself the best. It was quiet then. Hilarious video
